Via the KFC Fanpage on Facebook, we have a look at an upcoming recolor of the Keith’s Fantasy Club Transistor toy. The original version of this unlicensed take on Generation 1 Blaster was done in a metallic finish, and so, this new version is being done in a non-metallic matte finish with a shade of red that closely resembles the Generation 1 toy upon which it is based.
Transistor comes with HiFi, an unofficial version of Rewind, and several accessories, including alternate heads. No information is currently being offered on how this figure might be made available, if it is an exclusive or a limited run, so watch the discussion thread linked below for more updates.

Since DS is on the way, I made a Youth/G1 Toy homage decal set for Transistor.

I have a reissue Doubledeck that are I'm going to be selling for $130 shipped that was only ever open but never transformed, as well as the first run of Doubledeck that I'm keeping the cassettes from for $100. Boxes and paperwork included. If anybody's interested shoot me a p.m.!

All I've got is the unpainted red version. But here he is next to MP-13 (Well, the THF KO version, anyway).
The non-metallic ones are not painted. The joints are toleranced for the original painted version, so they feel kind of "soft" on this version. Not exactly loose and floppy…but not as tight as I'd prefer. Like he can stand and pose fine, but I can move his limbs by gently nudging them, they don't give much resistance.

Hi everyone!
I want a Blaster for my collection, though he never was a very high priority figure for me. Now, with DS and FT doing their reveals I'm thinking about actually going with Transistor, and I'd be grateful if you could help me out a bit. Although I'm OK with cartoon accuracy, it's not something that is a necessity for me. Case in point, I still have my MP-13, and I don't think I'll be going for FT's version. In terms of Transistor, I really like the headsculpt, and the metallic paint.
These are my questions:
– Does the metallic paint chip on newer versions of the mold?
– How do the non-painted versions hold up IRL? I'm afraid that the unpainted plastic may look cheap (for reference, I think the original Eligos looks cheap, but KFC's WreckGar is OK).
– Is there anybody who has comparison photos of all the versions side by side for comparison?
And, finally, do you believe he still holds up today, and what are his limitations?
EDIT: Forgot on thing: Are the non-metallic versions painted or is it bare plastic?
EDIT 2: Have the problems from the original version (e.g. the floppy panel on which his head is) been fixed on later versions?

I posted both of my Blasters in my sales thread at a pretty good price this morning. FYI

So many to chose from. Pimping that mould. I applaud. However they need to all be side by side in a video for the consumer to choose the one (or additional one) they want. I fear the blue metallic double-deckView attachment 29423878

That's the toyhax labels on the cassette cases
SquishyOH
Did the KFC cassettes come with those covers or did you print them out yourself? I've got a lot of cassettes, but none of the KFC ones.

Mine is the red plastic version, I'd heard nothing but bad reports on the metallic paint chipping and couldn't find the orange version so went with the plain red. I also managed to get the KFC cassettes, which aren't the greatest but with the toyhax label set look better.

Metallic version 4 life.

I had the metallic several years ago and sold it off. The color just seemed off and I wasn’t a fan of the chipping paint. I bought the orange one because I remembered Blaster as being orange, mostly due to the toy and the movie. I never noticed until recent years that he’s depicted as red much more than orange in the cartoon. In hindsight I would have gone with pure red. The only reason I haven’t gotten that one is because there’s a DS and a Fans Toys version coming and I want to see how those turn out before buying this mold a third time. It’s a fine mold IMO but nothing so special that it couldn’t be topped.

Here's mine… I got the silver headed version
Zircon72
That was the one I got because it came with Eject and Rewind. Not just Rewind, like all the other releases. Sadly I do somewhat regret not getting the metallic red version, as MP Soundwave is slightly metallic

I'd really like to see the "pure red" and the "movie orange" versions side by side.

Pure red is the one you’re looking for. The metallic versions are all named as metallic.
I have the orange one btw.
MacrossA
Maybe the 'movie orange' version

So, it looks like my memory is (at least somewhat) correct: KFC *DID* do a red, non-painted Transistor, yes?
Does anyone know what they called this version? I think "Pure Red" means the metallic painted one…

Yeah I did. Got replacement through showz. Took ages though

Anyone ever attempted replacement parts from KFC? My orange Transistor took a fall and both arms and shoulder assemblies popped off from the top of the torso. The nubs and tiny screws that held the shoulders to the torso, and allowed the shoulders to slide forward and back, sheered clean off. I don't often transform my MP figures, but I also don't want to take the option away by using plastic weld on it to put the arms/shoulder back into place.
