Head Writer Akiva Goldsman exits Transformers 5 writing duties for G. I. Joe as new writers are in negotiation for the next Transformers Live Action Movie.
Deadline states:
“After their Akiva Goldsman-led Writers Room experiment led to at least three movie ideas to extend Transformers, Hasbro and Paramount have set Goldsman to supervise a Writers Room for their G.I. Joe movie series. And they will go the same route with Goldsman to draft ideas for the Hasbro property Micronauts, with Goldsman supervising that as well.
This change of duties means Goldsman will supervise but won’t write the next Transformers installment. Paramount now is negotiating with Writers Room participants Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man) and Black Hawk Down scribe Ken Nolan to write the script together. That course change was cemented by Paramount, Hasbro, Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg and producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Don Murphy.“

character ages, as Tessa is about 17, while Shane is in his 20s

Oh ok, I always kind of just assumed they were supposed to be in the same grade lol (in terms of character ages and not actual ages)…
Any of you guys remember Weird Science lol… that was way worse lol!

This
and this, there are multiple Decepticons/Transformers to pick from for future movies.
the age difference with Tessa and Shane

What pedophile scenes are you guys referring to in AOE?
Also, I'm one of those guys that's disappointed that Decepticons like Megatron, Starscream and Shockwave are dead…. I wasn't very happy with the way they were portrayed to date in the movies…
Shockwave was just totally bad ass and it would have been great to have him around for a little longer….
Also, while I'm dreaming, it would be totally awesome to have G1 robot Prime in one of these movies… sigh….

Agreed. I feel it's their time to shine.

Praise Primus, Akiva is not writing. Hoping for a new director too. Not a Bay hater, just looking for a new direction.
Galvatross
While I enjoyed AOE the most out of the films, I do think human villains have run their course. The only way I can see that taken further is if there was a Silas or Headmaster situation or Apex Armor-style mech suits; I wouldn't mind the latter, but I wouldn't want the two former. Even then, I'd rather have future antagonists be alien.
It's not like Galvatron is not a major villain, and the Creators are hardly minor, so we have two major villains right there that will undoubtedly be used in future films. I think future villains will for the most part be either Decepticons or the Creators and their minions or third party villains. Galvatron, Creators, Cyclonus, Unicron, Predacons (whether G1, BW, or Prime-inspired), Terrorcons, Straxus, Overlord, Bludgeon, Blitzwing, Thundercracker, Skywarp, Liege Maximo and G2-inspired Cybertronians, Onslaught, Swindle, Ratbat, Insecticons, Sixshot, Astrotrain, Lugnut, Scourge, Trypticon, DJD, Sharkticons… etc….the possibilities are huge.

There are Decepticons like Overlord,Deszaras,Straxus, etc to consider. After all they were major Decepticon villains in their right even taking over the Decepticon leadership at some point so it's not like we no longer have any major Decepticons to bring in.

Sounds like some hope for the movieverse

What other villains would you suggest then? More human type villains or aliens like the Quintessons?

Hasbro hired him to oversee other writters room like GI Joe and Micronauts

Wait, there's just been some news on an anime site.

Could he have left for this instead of G1 Joe? Seems a little conflicting.

it was mainly WB who wanted Campy Batman movies, only for the sole reason to market the movie to kids and sell toys. even Joel regrets how his Batman movies turned out.
i find it realllllllllly ironic how at first i was the one who said they had to keep Megatron and all the well known decepticons and people kept telling me that they should introduce new villians and keep them dead. now most of you guys are saying that the movies cant work without the big name Decepticons and now i am one the telling you guys that there are other villians besides the big name Decepticons that can be used in the movies, the pure irony
siccoyote
I think you're forgetting Nelson Shin, he's the best director to work on a Hasbro related movie (well best movie)

Over here the age of consent's 16 for everyone, so still think it's funny people get so wound up about this.
Anyway, good we're getting more news coming in a bit more often about TF5.

Wow actual writers with good credentials.
Is this hope?
To be fair I've heard it was more of the executives idea than Schumacher. Schumacher wanted it to originally be the same tone Burton was doing.

Thing is there's only so much uses you can have with big name villains before they risk becoming boring because of being used so much. Also most of the villains I've mentioned are big in their own way in the respective series they were in. Sometimes you have to take some risks very now and then to bring in lesser known characters in order to keep people interested because some of those lesser known characters if done well can become big names too.
Also you can call how the KSI bots changed whatever you want but it's not like the rest of the bots transform the same way they do yet you keep acting like they do. In short if you want to keep on thinking that it's only going to be worse from here on out go ahead no one's stopping you. Myself I'm going to wait and see how it turns out until it releases.
Incepticon
Well, respectfully, I disagree on all counts for the reasons I already mentioned. Good writers or not, TF5 is already starting with scraps. Less than scraps. And yes, sure, they can shoehorn in ANY new villain like they already did with "who…?" guys like The Fallen & Lockdown, but none of them will ever carry the weight of a properly done Megatron and his equally (actually KNOWN) armada of troops. And, no, morphing pieces of floating little cubes that all Disney-magic-powder-spin together is not transforming – it's just money burning morphing CGI nonsense that someone (Bay) thought looked keeeewl. Doesn't matter if it's been explained or not – it's not transforming.
I dunno… I think it would be criminal to have these kind of actual writers now on tap only to have them waste their talents on the garbage that's been left. Why make them try to polish shit when they can build something entirely new? That's the way I look at it, anyway.
kaijuguy19
^^Most of the writers mentioned in the thread did movies that were pretty well done so if anything TF5's on to a fairly good start. As for the Decepticons we still have yet to see guys like Cyclonus,Scourge,Combaticons/Bruticus,Overlord,Straxus,etc take the stage yet so I wouldn't exactly count on no more Decepticons to rely on. Also the movie formers still do transform. It's just some of them like the KSI bots and Galvatron do it differently and even then there was a reason why that happened.
