Good news, friends. Amazon.com is now stocking the Platinum Edition reissue of Generation 1 Trypticon. Platinum Edition Trypticon has previously been available from overseas retailers and also Amazon Canada, but is now in stock and is ready to ship from the US facing version of Amazon. Amazon US is selling Trypticon for $163.22 – a decent price for the first Decepticon city-bot.
In related news, Amazon’s Canada shopfront has now delisted Platinum Trypticon – could it be that Amazon has sent the big guy’s remaining stock south of the border, or is this purely a coincidence?

Yeah mine doesn't sit flat either.

Anybody's foot forks sit flat? The ones on my g1 sit flat, but the platinum reissue seems to have too much plastic making the forks sit at a down angle. I need an excuse to use my dremel anyways.

Yeah, I was really worried about mine, seeing as it was a Christmas gift but it ended up being really good, no major defects on the box, I think she paid the 102 price so all in all, I'm very happy with it.

I know people have gotten shitty boxes, but mine's perfect.

Ah….
I'll keep my $80 bucks and take a damaged boxed Trypticon any day.
DarkEyes
But Amazon usually mail damaged boxes, it is better to pay almost the double for a better box condition.

I looked inside of it when I saw it,the dents in the back of box were pretty deep and looked liked they messed up alot in the inside.

The reissue doesn't have the ball bearings in the legs that they had removed for the Gigastorm remold. That's one way to tell them apart.

You can open the flap and see the toy inside. It might not be damaged. I bought a damaged box Trypticon from Amazon and the toy inside is perfect. Speaking of which…
I opened my Platinum Trypticon today and compared him to both my vintage Trypticon and my BW Gigastorm. People have talked about there being some differences on this one verses the original and that it was because they remolded it for the BW release and just didn't change it back. However, that may not be the case. I was opening the battery compartment and noticed I needed a screwdriver to do so. I didn't think the G1 toy had a screw holding the battery compartment so I checked. Sure enough, it just slides off. So I though, this must be a change on the BW Gigastorm. So I checked him, and nope. His slides off too. So this was a change they made that is only on the reissue. So we'll know down the road exactly how to tell a vintage apart from a reissue.

wouldn't it be prontosaurus? since he's a dinosaur and all?

That's a third party seller. It's just fulfilled by Amazon.

As I've suspected, amazon has jacked the price back up to $160-$170 now that xmas is over.

I saw one at a collector shop today and the price was 100 bucks but the box was beat to heck, like some one kicked it in a couple times. Didnt wanna risk it considering the figure might be damaged.

I am going to deliberately drop Trypticon on my toes and then call a personal injury lawyer pronto.

"I made $42.97 on my Trypticon!"

So, we are getting closer and closer to zero dollars paid for this item, which is our ultimate goal. I applaud the creativity of my brethren.
I suggest we raise the stakes and try for negative i.e. we actually get paid for owning this item
