For our next Transformers gallery update, we’re staying in Japan but coming right up to date, with a look at a recent Japanese release. Takara-Tomy last month released a set of three female Transformers as a part of their Generations line, Transformers Legends, and one of these was a pseuso-Beast Wars Classics release, Blackarachnia.
Blackarachnia is a remolded version of Transformers Animated Blackarachnia, with a new head and chest designed to emulate the look of the character in the Beast Wars series in both of her modes. Even though the mold on the toy remains about 80% the same as the Animated character, the remolding makes it easy to look past this. The robot mode is not completely accurate to the Beast Wars show model, but it comes incredibly close, and it is nice to see Blackarachnia given the Classics treatment.
Check out our full gallery of Blackarachnia for over 100 pics of this great new release from Takara-Tomy:

Finally got mine in from Ami Ami after it shipped out in October 2015

Got her. Okay, I lied. It was an Ebay seller. If $25 is your kind of price go for it; there's two left in the next 24 hours. I trust the seller.

I'll pull the trigger tonight if I still really want her.

If you're a fan of the character or the design, then I say yes. She's not a must-own, but she is a definite fun toy and looks excellent.

I'm well aware that this is something fairly late, but there's one for $25 USD. Should I bite?
It's on a down-low site. Not saying which one.

This is mine after doing some material removal behind the front chest piece. I find this figure quite hard to pose due to its stability.

Yes, I pushed on mine to slide the chest up and it stopped at the position shown in the gallery. Not wanting to break the toy, I decided not to force it. I'm not super-skilled in fixing things – especially the rivets thing – so accepted it as was, and went ahead with creating a photoshoot to share with the community.

The included comic for her is even more hilariously misogynistic! Cosplay, awkward falls, serving drinks… all three girls are sexy and in panties! I don't particularly mind (and the USA is equally guilty of pushing sexuality to sell a product) – it's just a double-take because these things are "children's toys" in the USA, and not so in Japan!
Back on topic, I didn't realize the chest gap was correctable. I will try and not break her with the correct transformation…
But overall, I was MOST looking forward to BA, and this is the MOST disappointing of the three. In fact, looking at those images from TFW, I think I like Animated BA more than this. The mold feels very Animated; they should have engineered something new for BW BA (like they did with Waspinator and Rattrap).
As much as I like THE IDEA of this release, it's lazy and sloppy – a current trend with CW releases in general. Oh TakTom… you just want to help the 3P scene soooo much, don't you? (i.e. a proper 3P release of BA would sell like hot cakes and trash this release entirely)

I'd love it if Hasbro came out with this as well, but put her in her Transmetal 2 colors. Who agrees?

Given that the art work on the boxes make it look like robot panties I'm not all that shocked that directions should include you need to push on her chest. But the tip does make the robot mode look better.

I think that'd be disappointing honestly.
it'd feel redundant when we could have just waited another year.

It's kinda hard to screw up something as simple as "slide boobs higher", lol. It's pretty obvious TFW had one with wrongly assembled torso (as do a lot more BA owners, even on Seibertron.com), which even if you push as hard up as you can, it will eventually slides back down(or worst, breaking something internally), and the spider butt won't fit right in alt mode. I got one of these and did the rivet-solder-swap-fix and now everything fits and her boobs slides up high, no more problems.
Sidenote: Even my SlipStream came with reversed hips, but that's just a matter of popping off both legs and swap them around.

Its not only that you can but that you should, its been remolded to fit over and cover the gap. Thats the way Takara did it, TFW has it mistransformed. It is supposed to look like this:
Oh and I guess it was such an issue that seibertron posted how to do it correctly: How to transform Transformers Legends (LG 17) Blackarachnia without a chest gap
I guess their gallery will be accurate.
Thats because you are not transforming it corectly, the link I posted shows you how. It makes HUGE difference.

Ugh! Those modern hollowed out arms and legs really bother me.

I would not really recommend fixing her unless you're really skills, considering you need to remove metals pins in order to fix her, it's not a simple 'unscrew, switch, screw back in' job sadly.

Here's a link about the torso misassembly issue for those interested in possible DIY fixes: LG-17 Blackaracknia is misasembled

Aside from that neck, everything else looks great. Will be getting it.

They did a beautiful job with her… one of my favorite Beast Wars characters. They went all out… Even adding 20 years to her breastplate!

I'm hoping this case is similar to that of GDO Springer: a decent repurpose/redeco as a placeholder until a much better, new-mold Blackarachnia figure comes along next year.
