Thanks to Transformers At The Moon, we have once again learned of a new trademark application by Hasbro: OVERRIDE. TF@TM has done a bit of research into this trademark application and provided the following additional information:
For those wondering the previous application for the mark OVERRIDE was in October 2003 with Hasbro last filing a “Combined Declaration of Use & Incontestability” in November 2010 against that mark. With a lot of the marks coming up for their 5 year renewal, or 5 years since their last renewal, expect to see a lot more applications for older marks over the coming months.
Many members of the TFW2005 boards are already hoping and speculating this means we’ll be seeing a new Override toy based on the Cybertron version, although it has to be said that this does not in any way mean we’re getting a toy out of the trademark application.
Enjoy the speculation for now by hitting the discussion link after the jump.

As far as design goes, I consider partsforming a greater sin than shellforming. Partsforming is the epitome of lazy because it's akin to taking apart a set of blocks and reconfiguring them. Thank goodness that after G1 partsforming fell almost entirely to the wayside.
Movie Convoy
Well, in my opinion, Partsformers/ KRE-Oformers are much much much worse than shellformers. In fact I want to completely dismantle, repackage, and sell all of my KRE-O sets.
Johntimus Prime
Damn fembots all look the same…
TFW10
override might look similar to strongarm in rid2015
i don't want her to look like another arcee
Johntimus Prime
Considering, too, that AoE Galvatron used a transformation method that would be physically impossible to translate to a toy, I'm not sure what else they could have done. Blame Bay for that one.
Movie Convoy
Would you rather have had the toys of the Transformers that were made by KSI be designed to be/ released as 2-in-1 KRE-O sets? Because that is the only way they could have made the toys of those Transformers be as clean and kibble-free in robot mode as their respective digital animation models. I mean, did you see anything on their robot modes that would have made it possible for HasTak to convert those digital models into decently well articulated robotic action figures whose transformations are somewhat easy for children ages 8 and up to figure out while also being able to actually transform?!
Autovolt 127
Oh man i don't know how i'd feel about that.
yeah it should be interesting how Takara will handle it.
I can dig that.

I could see a new Cybertron Override being recoloured/retooled into an Elita-One, as well as a new Blurr AND even possibly a (Hot) Rodimus. They've gone to town on the CW recolour/retools, so I pretty much expect that to be a continuing trend (not that it always hasn't been to some degree).
WishfulThinking
Why would you expect them to use the same mold?
Johntimus Prime
I like Arcee's mold, and even her wavemate Chromia is a partial shellformer. I'm more critical of beast shellformers because bits of animal hanging off awkwardly looks far worse than bits of vehicle, IMO.
Anyway, I doubt we'll get a new Override based on the original car from G1, but if they plan to include Targetmasters in TR (which is possible given the rumored movie toys, and they'd likely be given those if anything), who knows?

I just got that lazy repaint in the post last week, and he kicks ass, makes legends Groove look like the shabby twin. I'm all for triggerbots and more leftfield characters coming back, but for this trademark I would also like a good deluxe Cybertron Override. Just gimme a combiner wars mirage with a new front end and an aerialbot with reverse wings for the other two triggerbots to balance it out.

*Raises hand*

I agree that the most likely situation is a repaint of the Takara Deluxe Groove into a Deluxe Override, he already has the two guns to replicate the triggerbot gimmick.
Also, BW2 didn't have any heinous shellformers, that's BW Neo's shtick.
snoopcow
aoe galvatron is worse than leader prime, at least for prime his legs transform, lol
Dolza_Khyron
i'd love new triggerbots/cons.
who's with me?
Thelonicon
Why do you keep calling shellformers "Barbies"? It's kind of off-putting, and there are literally tons of non-female shellformers like half the BW Neo line, AOE Galvatron, AOE Leader Optimus, and a bunch of others.
Some shellformers manage to still be kind of interesting in the way their pieces fit together. Although some figures are just partial shellformers and I think those were the ones that Johntimus was defending. For example RID Strongarm has half her vehicle mode on her back, but her legs still form the bed and her arms form the front bumper.
Johntimus Prime
But the Legends one is a lazy redeco. That counts for something, yeah?
siccoyote
If Override is redone I hope it's a deluxe size one similar to the original G1 version, complete with springloaded guns, but with better articulation. The Legend class one just doesn't cut it.
scrapmetaru
How can you say shellformers aren't the worst thing ever? They're not even real Transformers, they're whole Barbies wearing whole vehicles on their backs.
Johntimus Prime
Shellformers aren't the worst thing unless it's BW2 shellformers. Honestly, I don't get the hate for the milder shellformers.
