For those collectors still looking for an excellent piece of Generation 1 to add to their collection, we have great news that Platinum Edition Trypticon has been spotted at outlets in Australia and the United Kingdom!
First up from our friends at Ozformers is a confirmation of Trypticon being spotted at Bankstown’s Toys ‘R Us. The impressive G1 reissue is also available on the Toys ‘R Us Australia website, although TRU has listed it as “Trypitcon” (whoops!). Trypticon is listed at $399 AUD ($287.94 USD for comparison).
Also spotted in our United Kingdom sightings thread, TFW2005 member incapable hulk spotted Trypticon at Toys R Us Nottingham for £199.99 ($305.97 USD for comparison).
Happy hunting TFW!

TRU have form for charging stupid money initially in the last couple of years for higher-end TFs. Grimlock was initially £100 when released last year and after that One Guy bought one at full price it was an edgy two week wait until the price shifted to £60 and everyone then moved on it.
Those Platinum release and Trypy are "likely" to sit and then have the same thing happen as long as we keep ranks and nobody is daft enough to crack at what is a disgraceful price.
Still don't think Tryps will get much below £150 though looking at the prices for even modestly sized Star Wars vehicles now. £130 for that Half-sized New Falcon garbage?
transmasterc
Yeah, I got mine from Thechosen Prime earlier in the year and I love him. Luckily I had some money in my PayPal account

Holy hell !!! They want £200 for trypticon ? LMAO
I am super happy I got mine from Kapow now.

That pricing seems pretty outrageous, I could get a soul of chogokin for that and have something exquisitely made instead!
Cybertronman
So glad I picked a complete one a few years ago from BBTS for a not-too-silly price.
$399 is absolutely ridiculous, even by our standards.
No wonder I still import everything from the US.

Everytime I see this figure it makes me sad that Takara no longer offers the Encore series.
Autovolt 127
That's a lotta cash.
Basilisk
I feel the same.
Like mostly when I hear about how something has been sighted in the UK and therefore it obviously means it's in stock everywhere here!
flux convoy
Still (im)patiently waiting for the stateside release. I think it's great that the rest of the world is seemingly getting their crack at it though.
Nevermore
Depending on who you believe more, Hasbro at SDCC or Hasbro on Twitter, he's either going to be a Target exclusive or an Amazon exclusive in the US.

So this is still coming to the US then right? Is this a good sign that they are out in the UK and Aus? Or is it a bad sign like when stuff in the US only shows up at TJ Maxx, etc?
scubaboy31
I still get hugely offended when stuff like this gets frontpaged alongside the words 'good news'.
If these prices are good news, then i'm sure i'd love getting kicked in the face repeatedly too.

I saw the blaster/perceptor G1 platinum pack in Bradford…. £130!!!
…which is $200!!!
sigh. My only hope is no-one buys them (as per) and they drastically reduce the price (which they sometimes do…)
Exodus
Yeah I had a preorder with CP, but when I heard that Target was going to get him, wanted to wait and hoping it would be cheaper…still waiting for Target CP did cancel my order too so eh.
Matty
For what it's worth, retailers like TFsource and Chosen Prime had it listed at $200 before selling out.
Exodus
Hope US gets this for below $200, interesting that the TRU in AUS got them, hopefully the TRU in the states gets them soon.
Rotorstorm
They are off their tits if they think it's going to sell for that price, £100 is pushing it
alldarker
I just checked my Shmax database… yup: last year I bought my OG 1986 G1 Trypticon, MIB with unused stickersheet and instructions, for £200. But selling a rerelease for that price is simply insane.
Basilisk
£200? forget it.
I'm only gonna go for it if it's less than £75
