Coming in via Deadline, the writer for Transformers 5 has officially been announced: Akiva Goldsman. According to the Deadline report, [Goldsman] has walked away with a concrete blueprint to write a Transformers sequel for Mark Wahlberg to star in [and] for Michael Bay to direct, with production starting in June. The report by Deadline goes on to mention that Ant-Man scribes Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari will head off and write an animated feature, an origin story that focuses on Cybertron.
Unfortunately no other news is available at this for this animated feature.
The report which you can see in full here, goes into detail about how the entire team of writers worked together in an attempt to truly broaden the scope of the Transformers Universe. At this time it’s not certain what jobs (if any) the other writers not picked to write these movies will have, but there is supposedly enough ideas already to do one more Transformers film even if Bay decides not to direct it [and] they’ll have created opportunities for spinoffs to keep moving on Paramount’s biggest franchise not named Mission: Impossible.
So with the writer officially set, an animated feature announcement, who is ready for the flow of movie news to start?
Staff Edit: Like clock work, Michael Bay has posted on Twitter that he has NOT committed to anything yet:
Re: directing TF5. No, it’s not official. I have not committed to any idea as of yet. Just met with Steven and we are discussing.

You're right, my apologies. There are some very positive and upbeat posts in the mix, it just seems it's more hate (usually from the same people that I find making hate posts in any thread I click on) than positive.
I'm hyped for it as well. I'm going to keep up with the info about the Expanded Universe as I am very interested in it all.
Lord Tron
Not everyone I for one am very excited for the expanded universe as well as transformers 5. Other people are excited as well considering the fact that the movies are still absurdly well.
As for Goldsman everyone makes mistakes and Batman and Robin was going to turn out the way it did no matter what because the studio wanted it that way. There was nothing Goldsman could do also this story was pieced together by numerous great writers so I have a good feeling to say the least.
Nearly everyone brings up the reboot idea but I have to wonder what if they get their reboot and it's worse. They all assume a reboot or change of director is a guaranteed solution what if it isnt.
HoneyPrime
Yeah, it's kinda depressing. Come here to check and see if there is any news, find an interesting thread, click on it, annnddddd "hate hate hate". meh.
Rodimus Prime
I love how the comments about the site are mostly complaints.
Darkstream
Focus on Cybertron? But didn't Cybertron got destroyed (Apparently) at the end of DOTM?

yeah him, James Roberts, Nick Roche, hell even Marirghread Ann Scott would all be valuable assets to the movies. They'd get the robots far better than any Hollywood screenwriter.
Everytime I hear about the ASM3 plotline. All I can think of is Full Metal Alchemist…..like seriously the fact they wanted to do that is messed up.
eagc7
yeah the actor who played Captain Stacy said that was a plotline for ASM3 and he would be among the ressurected ones
Johntimus Prime
I didn't know ASM3 wa going to involve Peter reviving his parents. That probably would have wound up even WORSE than Raimi's Spider-Man 3…
Eric
Expanding upon what I said earlier, the reason the Amazing Spider-Man films got axed after the second one was because Marvel and Sony agreed to bring Spidey to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That, and the third Amazing Spider-Man movie would have involved Peter Parker bringing his parents back from the dead. Sounds more like a mercy killing if you ask me. There's really not much the "Transformers Cinematic Universe" can do as far as continuing on from Age of Extinction, except probably introduce the Quintessons as the "Creators".
I am a little happy that we're getting an animated prequel, but that movie alone would have to fill in the numerous plot holes this film series has made in order for me to appreciate the Bay films.
Not filling me with any faith.
To reiterate, not giving me any faith that TF5 will be any good.
Ironhide1234
Prequel and Cybertron is music to my ears.
eagc7
would be cool if they had him as some kind of consultant to aling everything together
Autovolt 127
and all of John Barber's work was for nothing. :/
heh yeah.
Yeah it'd be nice to have some western animated non-kid oriented animated movies.

I dunno whyy, but sometimes this image of daredevil describs how i feel when theres news about the movies, i am happy and excited when we get updates on the new films, then i see hate and comments about how this should cancelled and rebooted, then i feel like
Forever Alone

I'm with you. I don't understand why everyone gets their nickers in a goddamn twist over something so inconsequential.

Same here.
It always amuses me just how much people on here (presumably all from the US) get so wound up about the whole 'underage' thing, cos over here in the UK the age of consent's 16 for everyone and I doubt anyone would hardly bat an eyelid if a 17 year old were going out with a 20 year old. Jeez, in some parts of the country they'd just be glad she wasn't pregnant at 15 with her teacher's baby…

I don't wanna shave Michael Bay bruh :/

Indeed, also while his track record may not be that high, lets keep in Batman adn Robin was mainly WB fault because they ordered a really kid-friendly movie simply to cash on merchandise.
even I am Legend which he wrote, got positive reviews from critics and got 70% in Rotten Tomatoes. so theres a chance he could write a decent TF movie, if this news is true at all based on the tweet of one of the writters
tokuformers
do not forget that he also wrote :
2005 Cinderella Man
2001 A Beautiful Mind,
2009 Angels & Demons
2006 The Da Vinci Code
2008 Fringe
films are far from being bad.
but all these had good directors involved in the project. Ron Howard and J.J Abrams.
so I think he can do good or better than has been done.
it depends on the will of all involved in the production.
Burnout00012
Prime, who's gone from a hero to public enemy number one, hunted, betrayed by the race he fought to protect, is now a shell of his former self, and his failure as a leader haunts him.
Drift, a noble bot (Decepticon origins not discussed yet) who is unhappy at Bumblebee's "leadership" position.
Crosshairs, untrusting of humans and rightly so, slightly insubordinate, and generally cocky and flashy.
Yes, those characters.
This is the one that pisses me off more than anything. For fuck's sake. The legal age of consent in the state of Texas is 17. In the film she is a LEGAL ADULT. There is zero statutory rape going on here. If anyone would take a minute to do some damn research this stupid argument would be defunct.
