Now a follow up on a previous story regarding the Generations Voyager Optimus Prime’s hip problem and how Hasbro has resolved them. It has now been brought to our attention that the voyager mold’s very popular reuse, Motor Master, has been given the same treatment! These resolved issues make the figures more stable when combined with the Stunticons in their combined mode, Menasor. Thanks to 2005 Board member Payres for once again providing the heads up.
You can view pictures and how to tell if you’re purchasing the correct version after the break.

Yep bought one and super happy with him,way better then the first one I had which I took back, just had to add some polish to his right arm above his elbow since it was super loose.

Combiner Wars Hip Ratchet Upgrade – Nonnef Productions
Honestly just get the Nonnef ones. They're amazing! Got them for my Superion. Basically they fix the Menasor Ratchet alignment issue as well as doubling the Ratchet positions. If you are willing to do some DIY work these ratchets are worth their weight in gold.

Flipping the cog round means they'll be a flat surface opposing the teeth. Not sure how long that'd take combined weight for

I don't even notice mine slouching since I never pose them
timcrook
No it is not worth it. Easier to do the DIY mod fix. Unscrew the screws for the hips (be careful of the spring inside), flip the bottom ratchet/cog in there, add some Pledge floor polish if you want and reassemble.

In my opinion, YES, it makes the world of difference to the toy and it's balance in combined mode.
The toy itself has a code number on it youcan check which batch it's from, as above. Look on the inside on his lower right leg

I never noticed this, wonder if it's worth changing it to new MM
payres
Yup, they're the wave 4 ones, packed with Battle Core Optimus, and manufactured this year as indicated by the 5 at the start of the number. The duff ones were manufactured 2014, have a number starting with a 4 and appeared in Wave 2.
(first digit is a year. Next 3 are a day. last is supposedly a working shift. So a 51671 toy was ,manufactured on 2015 day 167 which is 16th June, shift 1)
The first version in Wave 2 has hips that cause the legs not to sit in the correct position standing straight in robot or combined mode. The same problem affects the Red Optimus Prime, who doesn't have a fixed western version. The problem was corrected with Unite Motormaster and this change has cascaded down into Battle Core Optimus, the second version of Motormaster (both in Wave 4 and presumably the reason for Motormaster's reissue), Grand Scourge and presumably all future uses of the toy

What's wrong with his hips
Eurobeatking
Ive been finding some with the number 51671,are these ones fixed?
payres
All are fixed with the exception of just one or two reported cases with one old hip. You're on pretty safe ground buying one now.
Powerglide1991
So are all Motormasters who were released in Battle core primes wave fixed? or is it just a hit and miss thing?
Zenstrive
I don't actually care about the hips.
What I want is stronger knee so I can put it in combined fanmode without it collapsing if not careful
Egaroc1
My biggest grip is the knees being floppy as all get out when in combiner mode. I kinda fixed the floppy hips with nonnef (still kinda floppy but better). I also have the PE-04 upgrade.
Are the knees better in the takara and 5xxxxx models?
Autovolt 127
That's odd.

Just received my Motormaster from Amazon. Embossed number is 51881. Left hip was fixed, right hip was not.
Minikangaroo
the one you order from Amazon, is it the battle core prime (white), or the reg (red and blue)?
Thanks
Minikangaroo
thats what i thought, but i did read somewhere that someone bought a regular prime for his son through amazon, and it was a fixed on, i have been trying to find the post (it might be on a different forum lol)
I will post the link here once i post it, but if it was only 28 days apart, it's most likely faulty, just didnt want to spend 12 or so USD on the mod pieces, since i got the figure for a killer deal (that's why i bought it… along with 4 of the wave 4 for combination)
I won't be able to open it till x-mas, since i am giving it to my son as a surprise…. i am really looking forward to it too though
payres
Definitively? No. Because nobody has yet proved the existence of a fixed Prime to my knowledge.
However I can tell you that that Op was manufactured 28 days after mine, which is a faulty one, and the same day as my original faulty Motormaster. So if I was a betting man I'd say that's probably a faulty one too as I can't see faulty Motormasters and fixed Primes coming out the factory on the same day.
Minikangaroo
Would these help?? I don't want to open it (from the tie down)
