Back in last June, we reported that Netflix has signed an agreement (with Epix) for the right to stream Transformers movies. However, that agreement has come to an end.
Netflix CEO Reed Hastings told investors in mid-2012 that Epix content did not account for a “particularly large” amount of its overall viewing. Since then, Netflix competitors like Amazon and Sling have inked deals with Epix as well.
“While many of these movies are popular, they are also widely available on cable and other subscription platforms at the same time as they are on Netflix and subject to the same drawn out licensing periods,” Ted Sarandos, chief content officer at Netflix, said in a blog posting justifying the decision not to renew a deal.
This will result in Epix, the cable provider with domestic streaming rights to Hunger Games and Transformers movies leaving Netflix and taking the movies with it at the end of next month.
Guess it’s time for Netflix to sing “Wake me up when September ends”.

Went to watch Transformers: Age of Extinction in HD off Netflix one last time and it's already officially gone.
:'(

I've been visiting my gf and she has Netflix so I'm watching TF:AoE right now since she also has a great HDTV but no Blu-Ray player and I know it won't be available for much longer. Plus…why not, right?
Anyway, I just got to the scene where Optimus frees Grimlock and realized his Cybertronian dialogue isn't subtitled. Like AT ALL.
WTF?!?
I'd heard rumors of the subtitled dialogue ("The legend exists.") having been off to the right in the theatrical prints but then shifted to the center for the DVD (never got to research whether or not it was true…anyone?), but this is the first I've heard of it simply not being subtitled whatsoever.
Has anyone else experienced this in any other formats?
Does anyone know wtf happened?
So weird. Optimus is just speaking nonsense, lol.

Did you buy yours to sell them or to watch them?

They are investing in original content as a way to say pick me over the other streaming services. You can find a lot of the same content on the streaming services so watching The Rock play Hercules is the same on Netflix and Amazon Prime. But original content means you can only watch Hemlock Grove on Netflix and you can only watch Alpha House on Amazon Prime. Heck even Hulu is in on the exclusives thing with stuff like The Awsomes.
Also just another way to lure people away from cable by saying hey you can those old reruns on streaming and cable but you can only see certain shows on streaming.

I guess they're worthless if you look at resale value, but the way I look at it is this: I can watch a high quality version of my favorite movie any time I want. No matter how great these streaming services are, the quality is directly related to your computer and internet connection. Any little glitches, sound screwups, all those negatives with streaming are often overlooked because, "after all, I'm only paying 8 bucks a month!". When I watch a movie, I want the best experience possible. So far, I haven't seen any real proof that streaming offers that. I had Netflix for a couple months free before I realized I wasn't going to pay a cent for that shitty quality audio/video. I'd rather do pay per view (which is streaming, but for some reason has far better quality A/V than Netflix), and since it costs around 5 bux to stream it from my cable provider, I might as well own the physical media and enjoy it again later.
I keep all my purchased movies and they don't end up in landfills, nor will they. And if I get even 50 cents (which is being generous; local pawn shops won't even take them for FREE, lol!) well, I've gotten my use out of them.
I have an old school view of these things, and I totally understand why people would go with the new tech. But I'm happy with my collection, which makes it worth it to me.

They've been pushing more original content and TV shows over movies lately. Sadly, I'm not really interested in their HBO-esque shows, so for people like me, them favoring their stuff over studio stuff and even letting big licenses expire is irritating.
Though I was introduced to Kill la Kill through Netflix, so it served one purpose.

I didn't know that was on there until I saw this. All I can say is…better watch it now if it's still up.
Acadia
Unless they did this in favor of adding in even worse movies.
Wheeljack_Prime
I'm more upset Netflix is losing Jim Henson's Dinosaurs. That was next on my burn-through list.

If you read the article, it just talks about Age of Extinction, specifically, rather than all of the TF movies. It's the newest one, so has more licensing cost. Once it becomes old and more worthless, it'll be back.
I'm not a fan of the movies by any stretch of the imagination, and refuse to pay for them, but for those who enjoy them, they'll still be there.

I don't even know why I have a Netflix account anymore
All I ever do is log in and browse for 10 minutes realizing they don't have anything worth watching or that I haven't already seen.
I suppose that is why they are investing so heavily in original content recently

Eeeehhh this doesn't bother me one bit.
funny enough i watched parts of the first Transformers movie on CTV last night.
Oh I'm sure they already are.

Hum, Transformers movies I'm never going to watch or some really cool South Korean films I wouldn't be able to see any other way? I'm perfectly okay with this move since I just watch the harder to find stuff and classic TV shows.
If you just can't live without the live action Transformers movies well every Wal-Mart has a load of DVD and Blu-Ray copies. Or you could go visit someone with cable because my mother is always fussing about how many times the movies are shown.
Soundwave3k
It looks Netflix is getting better at figuring out which movies are crap!
Solrac333
Oh NO! Oh wait. I have my DVD's.
FanimusMaximus
Any answers?
Matty
I asked myself that question repeatedly throughout the movie.
FanimusMaximus
…Why?
