In-hand images of Takara’s Adventure line continue as we get some good looks at TAV-22, Takara’s version of Robots In Disguise 2015 Sideswipe. Thanks to Higekuma Toy blog, we get close-ups of Sideswipe’s new paint apps in both vehicle mode and robot mode.
There doesn’t seem to be a huge difference between Takara’s version and Hasbro’s, but we can see he has blue ring details around each tire rim to resemble the Energon conduits from the show, an added symbol on his hood just above his scannable faction sticker, a painted mouth and eyebrows, and a slightly more reddish-orange paint job.
Takara Adventure Sideswipe is currently instock on online retailers for approximately $25.99. Is he a better Sideswipe than Hasbro’s? Check out the images after the jump and in the link to see for yourself!

That's good! Like I said, your mileage may vary. Sounds like some people have better luck with this figure than others. Me, I've gotten the Hasbro and Takara versions, and so far I'm 0 for 2.
I mean, it's not a big deal, since they still display fine. It's just a shame this figure's engineering couldn't have been a bit more polished so that it stays consistent across the board.
Also, it's quite an oversight to have a toy in the current kid-oriented line that can't even roll in car mode. Kids are the ones who would want to roll it around, after all.

My Sideswipe's shoulders peg in nice and tight.

I have not followed RID toys much, but I can't help but feel the only reason Sideswipe (who's traditionally thought of as more of an artillery guy) uses swords in the new TF game coming this fall is because "Hey, he uses swords in RID, and swords are cool and also it's Platinum".

Good to know, thanks for sharing with us.

Hey, so, my Takara Sideswipe just arrived… and for those curious, I can confirm that, sadly, he has the exact same issues as Hasbro Sideswipe. His shoulders still don't lock in solidly (on mine, the left is more solid than the right, but your mileage may vary), and he still can't roll in car mode. The extra paint apps look nice, but the flaws in the mold are still sadly apparent. I was hoping that Takara's build quality would be stronger, as it sometimes is, but (at least for mine) this is not the cae.

Which is dumb, since the toys are produced in the same factories, and TakaraTomy's people are the ones that do the engineering.

looks like takara got the "right way to make figures" instructions and hasbro got the "i can save money by cutting this and that" instruction booklet. bummer.

Does it roll?

Solid. Very nice.

That's great to hear. Mine should be arriving within the next week or so, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for it. It really did just seem like a tolerance issue on the Hasbro version, so I was hoping it would be smoothed out by the time later versions came along.

Seems like really late "news" considering the figure has been out for weeks and multiple people on this forum own it… Anyway, mine's chest tabs in and holds in place perfectly.
Onslaught24
I think there was a pic in the gallery I linked showing his chest plate folded down. Then there was a pic of his ankle but I don't have the Hasbro figure so I don't know what that's about if it's an issue.
Autovolt 127
I hope that issue is fixed.
Driftx3
I'm optimistic this version will have a good chest plate, my COT version's chest clips in nicely
Robogeek28
Hopefully mine will arrive soon.

I can't justify paying $10.00 for additional minor detailing.
I'll stick with my Hasbro figure.

Looking at this:
It looks like it's still "mounted".

Me too!

Mostly I'm curious whether the chest plate on this one is any better (i.e. whether it can actually attach to and hold the shoulders in place). I'm suspecting it's not, but anything is possible.
