This was my first time and I had mostly new stuff so I didn't have too much of a problem with people haggling. Only had an issue with one item with one guy. I was selling the newer X2Toys MP Magnus shoulder and gun set for $18. He tells me BBTS is selling it for $15. I said yeah you're going to have to pay shipping from them too. I could do $16 but that was it.
He sat there for at least a whole minute telling me that I get it for whole sale price and that he'll only pay $15 and that he'll ship it with other stuff from BBTS so it won't cost him much more. I said fine, buy it from BBTS. I was cheaper than BBTS for a lot of items but I didn't want to sell that one for less than $16. The guy actually came back again an hour later saying he'll pay $15. He was probly the only one I didn't make a deal with, but I'm fine with letting that one go.
edit. I don't have a problem at all with the dealers winning, but I agree that it kinda will annoy fans, especially if they win more than once in the same drawing time.
The wrestling guys are cool, but it's the kids that worry me that they're going to do something stupid. When they're doing these fake moves in the aisle right in front of my table I was a little nervous.

the 1 wrestling guy is okay. he sells his stuff for VERY cheap. i didnt know uintil this last show they were a thing. a mom told me her son followed them on youtube. who knew? i just figured they liked wearing the masks. takes all kinds.

thats what its all about!

I'd love one too. I'm not into Joes at all, but that thing just looks metal as fuck and it's right up my alley.
This sounds pretty reasonable to me. Though it might be easy to get around, like have a friend claim it. Might also hurt their raffle ticket sales.

The guys that were fake wrestling in the ale ways of the show and took down half if a guys table? Ok that was cool the 1st time but got old and annoying

I do have a good customer base at NJCC. If I did not I would not drive 5 hours to go to the show. My sign said no reasonable offer refused. But when I have 70 or 80 dollars on an item and they come up and say I take it for 10 dollars. I'm going to laugh in your face or just put it back up on the shelf. I know when u stop by my booth. It was just was the comic book store owner walked away. But what u did not hear was he offer to buy my whole peg board and movies toys. I said yea if the price is right. Wife and I stop what we were doing and counted them up. As I was doing the math he says I let you know right now I do not want to pay more than 8 dollars a price. Well at 8 dollars a each, I keep then cause the average is around 20 a toy. Like I told him I want to get out of being a dealer but not like that loose a large amount of money. Why should I take the hit. Their are time I break even on some items, but I do not care if its going to a good home. No matter what price you have on an item. You always get someone that will say u got 25 on bla bla would u take 20. Most time I will. If thing keep going the way I hope. In 2017 I only do about 4 to 5 shows a year.
For the most part I was talking about the door prizes and how most people have an issue with dealers winning the prizes.

I'm having a problem comprehending what you are getting at here but I'm guessing you're upset about getting low balled? While I can understand getting a bit annoyed when someone offers you half (or less than that) of your marked price, it happens to me on ebay all the time, people are always going to try to get a deal. HOWEVER, you did have a sign at your booth that said something to the effect of making offers so you can't blame someone for taking a shot. What I do have a problem with is the attitude you give people and you do come off as kind of "douchey" when someone throws a number out there. I've also heard you make a rude comment about someone after they bought something from you simply because they asked you how much it was, presumably because you thought they were going to talk you down, which they didn't, not cool. As far as haggling goes, don't be condescending to me because something's not marked and I throw an offer I would like to pay. I don't care what you originally paid for something or what sob story you have about how you got stuck with extras of a certain piece, I'm going to throw out a price I'm comfortable paying. When I make an offer I try to be fair, but of course I'd like to get a good price. If getting offers annoys you so much, maybe you should mark your stuff down to the lowest price you're willing to take, make all your prices firm and make it clear to anyone interested in your stuff that you simply can't go any lower. I think most people will respect that. I'm not trying to rile you up or anything and full disclosure I have purchased multiple items from you in the past so I feel I have a right to be a little critical. In short, be nice to the people who line your pockets. You don't have to kiss my ass because I'm buying something from you, just be respectful. Treat people right and you'll have customers for life, treat them like shit and you'll be out of business. Simple as that.

I really want to win that Death-Metal-Dreadnok so bad. I don't care if I'm a dealer at the show, am a huge fan of toys like everyone else there.

Here my problem I'm having with the people that come out to the last few shows.
They ask to look at something, I grab it, they look at it ask how much, oh 140.00. see here the deal I only came to the show with 250 dollars would u take 70 dollars. Or how about the store owns that have been showing up with yea its a good price and all. But I'm going to market it up and put it out on my store shelf for even more money. So would you take 10 dollars for this 60 dollar toy.
As far as the tickets go. I buy them just like anyone else does. Do I have to no, only because the custom joes are great and there are 1 or 2 other prizes I would like to have for my private collection. I have been a dealer since Fran started them up in 2009. I have only ever one once and that was at last year's November show. The other door prizes that I have got over the years. I either had to buy them out right from the winner or the winner traded it in on something they wanted. I know where most of you are getting upset. Your upset with the dealers that are winner multiple prizes and as soon as they get back to their table they slap a price on it and put it on their table. Yes I agree with you on that part. Maybe they need to limit the prize amounts to one per person

they covered the NJCC …. but the cover pic for the story is me! i so stupid haha but im telling everyone i know. it wasnt even my table, i was helping out a friend liquidate his stuff. but haha its ME! haha
grunge
the dealers dont get tickets for having a table. they have to pay the admission fee just like everyone else if they want a ticket(s). so, its even steven. if you want to improve your chances to win, pay $20 and get 10 tickets.
therealjon
If dealer wins they should pull a second winner from the crowd. At that point the two will have their hands tied together and knife fight to the death while "Beat It" plays. Whoever lives gets the door prize.
Orodruin
Please, tell me exactly what situation would be fair. Dealers pay to be there, deal with strings of lowball offers all day, and have to just hope to sell enough to make it worthwhile. People offer to raffle tickets as payment for stuff too. How long should we sit on merch before we take a gamble on tickets?

It was a good show except for that Grim's Toy Show guy. All he ever did at the previous shows was whine about pricing and "scalpers", but he had a bunch of wrestling figures on his table for $30-35? Those things retail for like $20. Pot, meet kettle.
Between that and his band of barely-dressed 12-year-old boys, I'm not quite sure what his branding is, but his inevitable attendance is enough to be a bad mark on an otherwise good show. If it's meant to be ironic, it's missing the mark entirely… The "tough guy, look at all the women I think I can get" attitude doesn't really sit well at a Transformers and GI Joe show. I'd recommend that wrestling show that was in the area (pardon my ignorance, I don't really care enough to remember the name but we met a professional wrestler in the lobby at NJCC) but that's going to end up having actual tough guys that can get actual women (and kick actual poser ass), instead of the tough guys that insist upon flaunting themselves in a room that, for the most part, was entirely disinterested in their shit.
Oh, and I saw like 3 dealers win prizes. It doesn't matter that they have to buy tickets, or that winning prizes is just about the only way to make the day profitable… It's just not fair.

Your welcome.

NJ.com did an article about the NJCC. I'm in the 5th pic, and was actually talking about Transformers at the time as the caption says.
