Hot Toys, known for their highly detailed one-sixth collectible figures, vehicles, and displays, has just updated their Facebook page with final product images of their Hot Toys Optimus Prime figure. This item is the Starscream exclusive version (available for preorder at $344.99 and releasing this September), meaning Optimus Prime comes with various add-on parts including wings and a severed head of the Seeker leader. What reason for these add-on bits is unclear, we can only speculate the various reasons.
Check out some key shots of the Hot Toys Optimus Prime after the jump and see the full collage of images on the Hot Toys Facebook album.

This figure does look pretty damned cool, all in all.
As others have noted, the inclusion of Starscream parts is rather
odd, but the overall craftsmanship and aesthetic is nice.
Certainly not surprising, coming from Hot Toys.
And frankly, given Hot Toys' capabilities to make anything amazingly well, I'd LOVE to see them tackle more TF stuff!
And their seemingly unlimited licensing ability is intriguing, so it would be great to see them do stuff from all realms of TF.
I have absolutely NO DOUBT that they could match what 3A has done. (That's not a knock against 3A, btw)
Rodimus Prime
I imagine that this Optimus has a throne of chassis and uses Starscream's head to drink energon out of.

This guy looks pretty cool but not $350 cool. I pick him up only if the price drops to $100. Wei Jiang MPP10 is way better then this and hes only $95 shipped!

I have zero interest in the decepticon parts as well – in fact, I didn't even bother taking the starscream parts out of the box when I got him. but prime himself is a pretty cool representation and is super articulated, so I'm having fun with just him.
Afterburner
I was excited for what Hot Toys might do, but this approach of Optimus with Decepticon parts just doesn't interest me at all. Maybe eventually they'll do something of interest.

the mp01 blaster works pretty well with this guy!

chest/waist rotation is enabled by separating the chest/torso/hip. this is the most fluid running pose I've yet to see from an articulated figure. stands perfectly fine on its own without all the starscream pieces.

Holy crap. I did the impossible or so I thought. I was able to stand him with all his gear on. He's so back heavy I did not think it was possible, but with a really wide stance, forward lean and some rear heel action, he can do it.
Dan14thPrime
Ah, yes, thanks. The legs are much better now with pulling them down. That helps a ton. But, I'm still not getting much waist/chest rotation…nothing more than what I was able to show on camera. Let me know if I'm missing something and he should rotate like 180…otherwise, I'm still just getting small left/right movement.

Yeah, typically Hot Toys develop stands that are actually related to scenes that depict a particular storyline for the character, I think they were running out of budget when they added the Starscream wings and null rays lol… the stand is already too small for Evil Superman and his feet already don't fit squarely within the flat surface (because, really, there isn't much of a flat surface on that stand), I can only imagine how hard it must be to fit Optimus' feet in there (mine is still in the box along with like 50 other things I purchased and never got around to opening lol)…

incomplete review on articulation:
– shoulder covers pull out to allow more shoulder range
– abdomen grill pushes in for more crunch and upper chest rotation
– hips pull down to allow further forward leg movement
– feet has a small one click pivot forward (I haven't tried pivoting backwards myself)
– lower neck is connected to a plate that allows further downwards head tilt
Dan14thPrime
Yes, I saw that somewhere so rings a bell. I could live with the look if it at least worked from a size perspective, but its just too small to pose the figure on freely. This is my main gripe.
mtl79
As I mentioned in an earlier, the stand was ripped off from the Evil Superman figure, it's really not meant for optimus unfortunately…
Dan14thPrime
Got mine yesterday. I like the figure a lot, but wish they would have taken the stand more seriously. It makes no sense for the figure and is too small to accommodate a good range of posing for the figure once you have him all geared up. Overall, satisfied.
I shot a video review if interested on Youtube.

Got the email from Sideshow saying they'll have stock on the 4th and be processing then. Yeah!

Mine arrived yesterday, but it's still in its box… I'm actually really happy I switched my IM order for this one… it looks great!
Optibotimus
Just got mine in, and i actually really dig the overall look for him. He really gives me that Optimus Prime look that he had more in Beast Wars, even the Matrix has a similar look.
LeakinLubricant
Ugly and pointless, easy pass.

So Optimus cut off Starscream's head and wears parts of his corpse — does this mean G1 Optimus now has movie Prime's personality?
