Takara-Tomy have put up a new event promotion page, advertising something they will be doing at the Summer Wonder Festival 2015. They are using Occulus Rift to present a 2 minute “Buildron Attack” video, a 360 degree 3D virtual reality simulation of, one assumes, Unite Warriors Devastator. Buildron, it is worth noting, is the Japanese name used for the Constructicons in Generation 1, and also used again in Transformers Super Link for the character released in the Energon line as Constructicon Maximus. This may be a hint that Takara-Tomy is going full retro with the naming on the Constructicons in Japan – which would mean we can look forward to the return of the robot known as “Glen”.

Very cool & detailed description S250. Thanks for the explanation.

I think I'm the first attendee to TakaraTomy booth to try this one in WonderFestival.Because I've waited at TT booth before WF open.
OK,let's talk about this.
It's about 1 minutes VR movie.it's started in a desert place just like TF2 Devastator scene,you heard machines rumble and Constructicons coming around you in vehicle mode,different position so you have to twist your neck to see them all,very large.then they transform to robot mode,even taller,so you have to look up to see them.and then they combine,so you can see Devastator's crotch,just like TF2 you see his balls,after they combined into Devastator,he use left fist smash you,then movie over.

Look at how thick the mesh is on the face. They turbosmoothed it!

Not at all. Really look at that 'detailing' – it doesn't really 'detail' squat, because it's not supposed to be a render of a toy. Outside of Scavenger & Bonecrusher's treads and some visible 'real-ish' pistons, it's just millions of lines intersecting with each other, as is the process of these kind of CGI renders. Not an iota of this digital sculpt translates to toy molding.
harveydent
in-game CGI render for a CGI game/experience =/= sculpted mold for a toy
It's like saying "why does my AOE Optimus Prime toy not 100% like the image I saw in the movie?"
Matty
Buildron = Constructicons
Devastar = Devastator

Still… for a wireframe to have so much density that it nearly looks solid suggests an insane amount of detail.
Incepticon
Nothing was lost – that's just wire frame detailing and has nothing to do with the outward molding.
MrByatis
The text on the webpage still refers to him as Devastar
Transformed
That's a lot of detail there, so what was lost when it went to production? I'm guess half or more of the detail was cut/simplified =/
MegaDolrailer
Wait, Buildron? I thought Devastator's Japanese name was Devastar?
I remember Buildron being Energon Devastator's Japanese name.
RMStunticon
I really want to see video of this thing.
Matty
The amount of detail is insane.
