Unfortunately we are here to report the sad news of the passing of Hidehito Ueda, most well known to our hobby as the Director of Transformers Armada, as well as a huge contributor for many anime series. The Anime News Network reported this news stating Hidehito Ueda had been battling cancer for well over a year, also mentioning Hidehito Ueda’s funeral services were held on July 2.
Transformers Armada marks a transition point for our franchise, one that brings many fans enjoyment and countless discussions. TFW2005 sends our thanks and warm wishes to the family of Hidehito Ueda.

So sad I'm Transfan because of him.

RIP Hidehito Ueda. You were one of the best people who has ever worked on the Transformers franchise since Simon Furman, James Roberts, Bob Forward, Larry Ditillio, Marty Isenberg, and Derrick J. Wyatt.

Armada was the show that introduced me to Transformers. Sad news indeed.

Even if Armada's not among my favourite TF shows it did introduce to the Autobots and Decepticons since I was only aware of the Maximals and Predacons and it did introduced characters like Prime,Megatron and Starscream for the first time and it also have some cool moments especially during the later half. Would be cool and fitting if Takara at least decides to honour the director's memory by doing some Armada homages.

That would be an excellent way to honour his memory.

Damn… Armada was a very underrated show. It had characterization I have yet to see in any other show.
Takara should make a Masterpiece Armada Optimus in his memory.

I've always thought when Armada/Micron Legend's animation was good…it was damn good. It's probably the most anime looking Transformers series and I wish we could get another series that looks similar to this though a bit more stylized though.
RIP Hidehito Ueda, it may not have seemed much in the grand scheme of things but the work on Micron Legend you did was very impressive.

While it was not my first TF show(Energon was) it was very fun watching it,it had a different Starscream and Wheeljack that I loved and introduced Nemesis Prime as we know him.My condoleances to his family and friend, may his soul rest in peace….

Very sorry to hear of his passing at a fairly young age.
I always enjoyed Armada as a series, loved the toys from that series too.

The guy had Urusei Yatsura under his belt, but Armada is gonna be what he's remembered for? Poor guy…

Very sad news. Although Armada/Micron Legend was not a highly regarded show, it remains one of my favourites. It can't be denied that the animation was terribly inconsistent even in the Japanese version, however the episodes directed by Hidehito were among the finest in the history of the franchise and I think, perhaps have some of the finest art an animation made for tv ever.
Last year, I wrote an analysis of his work on the show, on my tumblr, if anyone is interested. Perhaps this is the impetus I need to resurrect that old tumblr as well.

Exactly what I was thinking, Armada being the show to bring me into this fandom.
