He looks a lot better here to me.
Some New Pics of TFSS 3.0 SerpentOR | The Allspark

Yeah, Serpent O.R. looks watered down when compared to the mock-ups. Granted, they're called that for a reason, but that yellow is so flat and ugly.
Kinda reminds me of Generations Crosscut. His stock photography made him look like he was done up in silver paint, but then we got unpainted grey platic.

I don't have a horse in this race, but that seems like reasonable outrage considering they're asking us to buy these figures in advance based on these mockups. It's one thing if it's a retail toy where you can see it in person before you buy it. But for these, you're making your decision based solely on what limited information they're offering. Failing to deliver on that is pretty shitty any way you cut it.
Now, if I'm being perfectly honest, I wouldn't be doing the TFSS anyway, since I think it's overpriced, but… that just seems unfair. The fandoms gets its collective panties in a bunch over things a lot, but this particular instance really isn't too entitled seeming.

Metallic Colours look perfect. also I regret not getting a Senator Ratbat.
The original Serpentor toy has GPS so I'd say yes.

Glow in the dark is SORELY underused in Transformers.
Lumpy
Dude, if that's glow in the dark, I might just keep Tarantulas instead of sell him… hmm…

Agreed on this. If I had paid the roughly $60-$70 for SerpentO.R. and got the one pictured here, I'd be really annoyed, since the original mockup made him look much more impressive and worth that money. Even if they'd just kept it this shade and added a metallic flake to it, I would have been cool with it.
Alternately, if this were a retail release, the color wouldn't bother me, as I'd only be paying $15-ish for it, and wouldn't be expecting some fantastic metallic deco scheme.

Hey that head pretty close to the original serpentor lol nice
Matty
I get that for sure. With that said though, it's still a letdown in some way.
Correct me if I'm wrong please, but I feel the communication from the TCC regarding these mockups are along the lines of 'yes, this is very close to what you'll get.' They provide the "subject to change" text which is great, but things like this feel drastic. I think that's where the disappointment is.
I want to emphasize that I'm not mad, just pointing out observations and am more than OK with being corrected if I'm misremembering. If anything at all I'd still just like to hear about the process from mockup to figure and learn about how it was changed so much. That's important I think and great to hear.

This Fandom in a nutshell.

I think the problem is the original serpent O.R. mock up was literally just a picture of ratbat colorshifted, so naturally it had all his metallics. And yeah, it would have been a way better figure if that had been what they delivered. But personally, those eye tampos aside and I'm baffled why they didn't change the tampo after they got the production sample, I like him. I think alot of the disapproval is because they gave us high expectations with the mockup, a la the heads on lio convoy and rampage, and failed to deliver on what we decided we were promised even though we knew it was just a mockup.

I actually feel Serpent OR looks fine. Was he ever advertised as being gold? Because I'm looking at the original slide and he doesn't seem gold there either. Maybe a slightly darker shade of yellow.
Even Tarantulas, who I originally felt was INCREDIBLY weak, came around nicely after they changed the deco…what, three times? He's nice now, though.

Kind of hoping the disappointment with Serpent O.R. means the aftermarket price won't be too high. After Viper and the B.A.T.'s (As well as the excellent current TF vs. G.I. Joe comic), I've been wanting to start a G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover collection.

Reprolabels won't do labels for FunPub toys
Thundershot
Aw man, I was looking forward to Serpentor the most. I hope it's the lighting… I also hope that mine doesn't have off center eyes..
Squallte
I agree with everyone here that the lack of gold on Serphant OR is disappointing. Hopefully reprolabels or a can of gold paint can fix this.
Otherwise Tarantulas looks amazing. It looks like the lighter green paint and plastics might be glow-in-the-dark. If so, that would be amazing! It's been a while since I've seen Beast Wars, but I seem to remember that he use to hide in the shadows with his eyes glowing.
Boy Blunder
Thank goodness I never went in with anyone to get SerpentOR. That is really disappointing.
Colonel Jester
Well I was going to get Serpent O.R. Now he looks cheap and not worth the price..
NemiMonkey
Except pictures made it seem like they were following Takara's lead in how they did Senator Ratbat, only with gold instead of purple.
No metallic flaking in there at all, just a metallic color.
Even if final turned out different it wouldn't suddenly go from gold to caramel colored. Should be at least a darker hue.
CrockAlley
Serpentor's chest-eyes are unfortunate. The solid outline looks amateurish.
Otherwise, I really like how it looks! I'm excited to get it in my hands.
