Transformers Cinematic Universe writer’s room member Lindsey Beer has posted a tweet in which she indicates future films in the live-action franchise will give more attention to the characters of the Transformers themselves. She had the following to say:
“The Transformers will be treated as real characters. As a fan as well as a writer, I promise we’re delivering some awesomeness.”
The most recent entry in the franchise, Transformers: Age of Extinction, contained notably more robot characterization than the previous entries, and based on Beer’s words it seems future films will likewise continue in that direction.

Characters like liege maximo and jhiaxus could be used aswell for mainstream villains.

Regarding A-listers, big movies like this tend to make obscure characters into A-listers. Nobody knew who the Guardians of the Galaxy were until their movie. Lockdown, The Fallen, and Sentinel Prime were all fairly minor characters until their movies (even though both Lockdown and SP were supporting cast in Animated, I'd say AOE is the biggest "mainstream" reference to Animated by using an Animated original as the big bad).
And well, everyone's gonna die eventually if your name isn't Optimus, Bumblebee, or Megatron. Ratchet lasted four movies, Starscream lasted the duration of the original trilogy. But I do get your fear of your favorite characters from the franchise getting killed off in their debut movie, I cringed when Lockdown died (felt like action movie wish fulfillment honestly).
Hopefully future villains get as much development and screentime as Lockdown. Or at the least, Starscream, who certainly had a personality if nothing else. I could make due with a Starscream level Lugnut or Bludgeon.
Another excellent example of another character in the lore who could be used.

I don't like prequel or reboot
Livingdeaddan
Well. Sounds good, but I don't believe it for a nanoclick!

Oh god.
American Pieformers.
I love raunchy comedies but it doesn't belong with Transformers unless it's on the internet.

It'd be interesting for a or some prequels to be written in a way that actually aids to the plots of 5 and 6.
Dotmshockwave
Too many big named cons dead, there are still a few out there that they could use but the main heavy hitters are gone. That is why I have a feeling when they make the spin offs most of them will be prequels, so they can actually use the dead characters. Then tf5 and 6 will be with the remaining cast.

If they reboot we will get another boy and his car trying to bang a hot chick story. I really don't want that again.

I'm not against reboots. Any creative team can find themselves at point where they have painted themselves into a corner, the continuity has gotten so thick there aren't good places for new people to jump on, or it's time for some massive shift in things like tone.
Between live action, comic books, and cartoons Batman has gotten a load of reboots. Not all of the reboots are good but without reboots we wouldn't have gotten the version of Batman that some people love so much.
The only thing I'm against is the bad reboots. If the reboot is not equal to or greater than a previous version then it feels like a waste of a reboot. The live action Spiderman reboot didn't work for me. But given that we've ran with the Transformers live action universe since 2007 I think the franchise has put in enough time for a reboot.

I'm not one for constant reboots, it seems like a lack of imagination and creativity that movie studios don't seem to have enough stories or ways of developing characters outside of 3 movies. However, we have had one good film out of four at this point and even that one wasn't amazing. The hope and feeling of promise that the sequels would get even better made that first film seem a lot better at the time than it was. When pretty much everything needs to be changed, I feel that yes, we do need a reboot to fix it. Get the bad taste of the last few films out of peoples mouths.

Why is wishful thinking so easy to laugh at. :/

I don't plan on the Transformers Cinematic Universe being rebooted, though I would like that very much, as it would give a chance for new writers and maybe even new directors to take a chance on making good Transformers movies. Like I said before, if they do plan on continuing on from Age of Extinction, it would be extremely difficult, what with all the plot holes, abysmal character development, and writing errors the past four movies have had.
This is one of the many reasons why the movies fail. Yeah, improvisation can help sometimes, but not always.
So glad I never watched AoE, then.
I would actually like to see that happen. Just have them come on board, and ask what we think of the movies before they write out the script for movie 5. That way we might actually get a good Transformers movie-nope, couldn't say it with a straight face.
Furnace
I hope they're actually taken seriously as characters, like with actual development, personal struggles and all, unlike in AOE, where the robots were just talkative.
Autovolt 127
This is very true and I think that's a huge issue in its own right.
Mayhem Attack Squad….oh yes.
primal789
That was my thought about Bludgeon aswell. Also make him an arch enemy for Drift, make him a tank and combine to form Bruticus.
Enma
I'm think i will write tweets with that idea to all the tfu new writers maybe one of them will read it.
rodster6
I'd be happy if they moved away from Megatron/Galvatron now. He has been pretty much redundant since the first movie but keeps coming back for the sake of being there and get his ass kicked.

This pleases me.
A content dragon is a happy dragon.

One interesting omission from Chopperface's list: Bludgeon!
The fact that he was never meant to be a leader (as a toy) but picked from obscurity by Furman who just thought he looked cool alone could be the basis for making him the leader in the next movie.
In a sense he's a self made Decepticon leader.
Think about it, all the "cannon fodder rank & file" Decepticons that were left stranded on Earth after the events of the last few movies. Bludgeon could be one of them, and rally a team around him "to succeed where our elite leaders have failed."
It would be the Mayhem Attack Squad mixed in with the Decepticon Outcasts from IDW.
BOOM!
There's your set up for TF5. (Even if it's derivative, it's got more potential than some of the characterization from the first 3 movies)
