Hasbro has released some official images of the Combiner Wars Combaticons following their reveal at Botcon today. Attached to this post, see official images of:
- Voyager Onslaught
- Deluxe Swindle (Protectobot Rook retool)
- Deluxe Blast Off (redeco of Aerialbot Quickslinger)
- Deluxe Vortex (redeco of Alpha Bravo)
- Deluxe Brawl (new mold!)
And, of course, their combined form, the big bad battlin’ Bruticus!

Oh jeez, that's not right either then… thanks for the heads up. Wow Hasbro… just wow.

No, that's apparently an alternate transformation of the torso, which folds together better but still does not lock into place. Here's an update video from Optibotimus (scroll to about 2:50) where he tries that method.

In the pictures of the G2 Combaticons…. Onslaught's torso seems to close up properly…

It does affect clipping the leg together both in robot and combiner modes, yes. I'll have to see if I can dig up the mod. One of the admins here did a write up on it months ago.
EDIT : Here it is.

Are we talking about the combiner thigh here? Sorry, only following this part of the thread half, but my Defensor's right thigh just won't lock, which is annoying as hell. Cutting off more plastic seems a bit counterintuitive, but if this is indeed the problem I'd love to learn more…
Gepard
There's a persistent mold issue with one of Hot Spot's legs where there's a tiny bit too much plastic on one of the pegs holding his lower leg together. It leaves a gap just a bit too wide for the properly-transformed thigh to clip in. I had to mod mine to get it to work, as did many others. (The other leg works fine out of the box.)
TheGrognard
Yeah, the knees AFAIK do not need modding on a non-defective unit.

Then unless they got a defective figure they didn't actually need to modify anything to get it to work. At the 7:35 mark is where Emgo explains how Hot Spot's knees lock in.
TFXProtector
There's carving of plastic needed. It's in a thread here on TFW.
I was talking specifically about Wildrider and his leg mode. Both Hasbro and Takara uses of him on leg mode gap.

Don't mind me changing the subject for a while…
Curiously, the comics that come packed in with the Combaticons are the issues that originally were to come with the first wave of CW Deluxes but didn't get release as only the international versions with the cards made it out to retail. So that's a rather odd move by Hasbro to rerelease those issues rather than continue on with the current story arc.
Just wanted to point that out. Now please continue your Brawl talk

I did see this, but he also tweeted later that it may have been an issue with that one particular figure. That fig may be defective. Not good if that is any indication on how this line will look. I just hope it is an isolated issue.

The problem is the pegs/latches can't go through any further, so you can't collapse the pelvis part properly. Seems like you (at least the adults among us) might be able to simply fix that by cutting the blocking pieces away with an exacto knife. Might've been a mold error and plastic was supposed to have flowed away there originally.
I know we shouldn't have to fix our toys, but I remain hopeful.
Robogeek28
Well this is going to save me money, so thanks I guess Hasbro.
TheGrognard
Having a spare limb hanging off in limb mode is forgiveable. Not being able to do robot mode without issue is a big deal.
I may wait for a few more reviews. This concerns me, especially since Brawl is not particularly good looking.

Watch Emgo's video is see the right way to do the knees.
I'll give you Motormaster/ Optimus, but Devastator only breaks if you force the joint beyond where is designed to go.
For me it's both Stunticons that don't hold together in arms mode. I'm not saying it's not a flaw, but there does seem to be some "YMMV" going on with this one.
Personally I give Combiner Wars more leeway with stuff like this. Each toy does so much and they do it better that any combiner in the last 20 years. Now if we were looking at a flaw that affected the combine form then I would have a problem.
Now I'm thinking assembly error, or shitty design, but most of the CW deluxes have not had problems that big. Most of them have pegged together and locked in place for most of the modes, with two exceptions that come to mind (Deadend and Off Road) and those at leas had connections in the design.

Update to video on brawl to show the flaw in design
