So I picked these guys up from my local FedEx store yesterday. As I expected, excellent representations of each character.
The real gems in this set, though, are the accessories. A few of the pieces are Back to the Future crossover references. I saw that and I think I made an actual *squee* noise.

They're up on HTS. Just ordered mine. Site is being hammered, though, likely with people trying to order Devastator and other stuff. HTS promo codes won't work, so don't waste time trying if you have the Kreons in your cart.

It's 7/28 Hasbrotoyshop.com says they're having exclusives today.. still waiting. I stayed up till Midnight to check and it was hilarious because the site was dragging by all the hits. Nothing of course but verrrrry slow so was glad they didn't have them yet.

I'm getting this. It'd be awesome if someone wanted to trade for the Class of '84. I would do that trade in a heartbeat.
Last year I bought two of them. One from eBay for $100 and then one from the HTS for $40.

Poor Technobot Strafe, will he ever be allowed to use his own name?

If we get get an '86 set, maybe we will get Blurr, Wreck-Garr, Runabout, Twintwist, Roadbuster, Whirl, Broadside, Metroplex, Rewind and Eject.

Blaster, cosmos,Grapple, Tracks, Better Seaspray, Blitzwing,Astrotrain and other dinobots oh man.I too would like to see a Reflector if they go with the toy release vs cartoon maybe next year? I have way to many kreons already but I am very tempted. Love how Astrotrain Devy have the long guns that battle changer hound came with.
FigureGunplaFan
Come on Hasbro, take the photos of the Kreons individually.

Last year, it sold out on HTS at first then reappeared later, so I caught it the second time around. I had pretty much given up when that bit of unexpected good fortune emerged. But yeah, I think anything over $100 is pushing it.

I got last years for $99 shipped. so Ive been looking on ebay cause I dont think I'll be able to get it at HTS
Ninjak
I wish. I'll be trying my luck again with HasbroToyShop. But I've had decent luck with them of late. Plus, since I've already got last year's set, I wouldn't mind paying up to $100 for this one if I had to.

so who is going to SDCC that can hook a brother out to get this set?
Ninjak
That was exactly the meaning I took from it considering Astrotrain was always used to shuttle people about (no pun, though fitting, intended). Plus it was common even in school if someone happened to drive a large enough car or van to be the one to drive all their friends around.

You do realize that 'designated driver' doesn't necessarily have anything to do with drinking, right? It could also (and more then likely) means: the one chosen to do the driving. Nobody in my family drinks, yet I'm usually the one designated to drive everyone to relatives homes, out to dinner, sight seeing in other states. I'm fairly confidant that is more than likely what Hasbro meant.

Well maybe. But as someone who didn't drink in high school, and as a parent whom I hope my daughter doesn't drink in high school or hang out with the kids who do and could get into a fatal accident because of some reckless youth… yeah I kinda do take it seriously. I'm all for teaching responsibility and designated drivers and often gladly serve that role, but at the high school level it makes me feel uncomfortable, and it always has. To have it displayed on a kids toy so that my daughter sees it and maybe starts to to think that drinking in high school is OK, just as long as there is a DD – well that makes me even more uncomfortable.
I didn't mean to derail this thread or get all political or anything. It just irked me a bit, just as it does when every teen-based TV show so blatantly endorses drinking at high school parties. It doesn't need to be like that. I'm just surprised Hasbro put it on there, they could have chosen any number of other, more innocent/kid-friendly "most likely to" class descriptions.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT HASBRO DID NOT JUST SAY THAT OH MY GOD I NEED THIS XD

I missed out on the 84 set. I will definitely get the 85 set. At least we got a proper Seaspray this time.
barrelks
I think you are taking this a little too seriously.
OCProwl
I find it a little surprising that Astrotrain is the "Designated Driver" – seems to suggest/imply underage drinking since these are supposedly a "high school" class… Then again we see high school drinking on TV all the time, but this is supposed to be a kids toy.

just had a thought of these crowding round the combiner wars superion menasor defensor and devastator
