Confirming rumors that were floating around the Internet last week, two female writers are brought in for the upcoming Transformers Cinematic Universe. Christina Hodson and Lindsey Beer are both in the Writers Room along with several other Writers (Robert Kirkman, Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, Zak Penn and Jeff Pinkner lead by Akiva Goldsman).
Deadline has the scoop:
“Paramount Pictures and Michael Bay have added the first two female screenwriters to the brain trust of writers who’ll hatch Transformers sequels, prequels and spinoffs under the supervision of Akiva Goldsman. Christina Hodson and Lindsey Beer have both joined the group that will help craft ideas to expand the universe of the Hasbro toy line, then go off and write them.”

All right thanks for the information.
I know. I just never imagined he was the writing type.
Maybe….It seems to work out for the most part.

I think sometimes people just want someone to give a damn and sadly with Transformers the only ones that seem to give a damn are fellow fans and possibly the toy design team because they sure seem to get out those things fans hope for. Paramount though, I just don't think anyone there cares what we think as long as there is someone else they can sell a movie ticket instead.

Who's hoping that the TFCU will pull Abrams Star Trek/X-Men: Days of Future Past time travel BS to reboot the franchise without actually rebooting it?

With as many posts as you make putting down the threads, either you really do care, or you better find something new to do with your time on the forums if the movies ever stop being made.
I hear there's some neat toys out there you can collect. Or stamps. Stamps are good.

Sometimes having a concept successfully go from screenplay to completed film is like having the stars align–and even when it does happen, it takes time. One of those three scripts appears to become part of a greenlit project, though, so good for her. Handy info from Wikipedia:
"Of the 987 screenplays The Black List has included over the years, 301 have been later produced as theatrical films, including successful and award-winning examples such as American Hustle, Lars and the Real Girl, Juno, The King's Speech, Slumdog Millionaire, Argo, and 50/50. The produced films have all together grossed well over $24.87 billion, and have been nominated for 223 Academy Awards and 197 Golden Globe Awards, winning 43 and 40 respectively. In addition, writers whose scripts are listed often find that they are more readily hired for other jobs, even if their listed screenplays still have not been produced, such as Jim Rash and Nat Faxon, two of the writers of the Oscar-winning screenplay of The Descendants, who had an earlier screenplay make the list."
Think we're seeing an incidence of that last bit.

I think its still too early for a Windblade solo movie but again she is the fan built bot.
For a minute I thought she wrote the tv show The Black List.
but the best unproduced screenplays ever…..that sounds good but why weren't they made?
Everyone is more qualified than Kruger.

Isn't it funny how, in this day and age, we have "writers" and "female writers"?
TFfanatic88
Don't even care. The only way for the Transformers film franchise to be good is to reboot it and remove Bay's parasitic tentacles away from this franchise as humanly possible.

Fans'll bitch about anything anyway. This thread is proof of that.
So, Paramount and crew will do what they want. Tough shit.

I don't know their work so right now I can't even guess if they will bring something good or something bad. They are a great unknown factor at this point. But I am kind of worried that you can reach a point of too many writers so I don't know if just throwing more writers at it and hope something sticks is the cure all for what's so disappointing about the films.
There is the Paramount leadership to deal with and I'm getting almost to the point of being paranoid enough to think that it's the personal mission of someone at Paramount to make sure I'm always going to be disappointed in Paramount movies. Even if the writers come up with a brilliant movie will Paramount actually make that film or will Paramount say go back and give us something bland and generic enough to please everyone without forcing anyone to fire any brain cells during the movie?
If Bay is back will having female writers prevent shots where you wonder if Bay wanted to be a colorectal surgeon because if ass shots get any closer they are going to need a colonoscopy camera.
Ugh and what about the producers who seem to have an attitude of screw the fans the fans deserve nothing.
To build up any sort of hope I'm going to need more than just hey we hired more writers. If it's more of the exact same stuff only with more writers it's not really anything for me to get excited about.

This thread is depressing.

I want more Transformers characters PERIOD. After 4 movies the human side of things should take a back seat to the 'bots. Otherwise give it the honest title of "HUMANS! The Movie! with minor guest stars, Hasbro's Transformers "
Grimwing
Well eventually for as many movies as their producing and with Hasbro handing them all these lore and character concepts to run with. One of them might be a alright transformers movie.
Though at the moment the only great modern Transformers movie was Predacons Rising.
Hopefully the allspark pictures hasbro animated films coming up will be of that calibur.
femmebotfangirl
Look at it this way, if you are right at least they match Bay for talent and originality.
Thank you.

even when they bring in big name writer we still have no faith in this movie.. that how hopeless this movie has become…
Murasame
Who are they?

Too many posts in this thread are so depressing. Next time you start blurting how somebody has zero writing credits, do some research on the general Hollywood writer's working conditions.
Most of them are literally handing in dozens and dozens of scripts, of which many projects get cancelled or put into the fridge. On projects that DO get greenlighted, they often find directors and producers changing their work, and not for the better (yet keep receiving all the hate for the end product).
This could go EITHER way. I'm not saying there's some kind of guarantee these will turn in great scripts (I'm so done with the Bay-verse so I really wish they'd reboot instead, anyway), but the mouthfoaming and disrespect in some of you people's posts is disheartening, to say the least. You're literally sucking out my enjoyment of participating on these boards.
And now somebody has claimed women's rights (which doesn't really feel relevant here anyway) is not really a big deal, wake him/her up when black males (specifically 'males') are included – as if somehow underrepresentstion of black people (and yes, that IS awful) somehow completely negates the women's right issue.
What the fuck.
I'm done.
