Third party Hero Hobby have shared with us some images of their QD-01, an unofficial, super-deformed Dinobot Grimlock. Unlike other offerings, this super-deformed Grimlock looks to be fully capable of transforming. He’s a cute version of the Grimlock we know and love – check out the images and see what you think.

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me, but I figured if anyone might know if these figs were made of ABS that you might know… though I'm getting the sense that you do not. .^.

Its another common breakage point. My friend's and mine (original release) both broke on the right socket about a year ago too. Unfortunately there are no spares to be provided as well.
GrimLocke
Does anyone know if Hero Hobby Tiny Rex's plastic is ABS or not?
I've got what appears to be a second break in the left Dino arm socket, and the super glue I applied did not take.

It ain't pretty, nor did it work! xP
Still, if it is ABS, then plastic cement might work.
If not, I might have to resort to poster putty keep the arm in place.
I also don't even know if the first break was there from the start when I got this guy from Bababobo00712 nearly three years ago, and I don't really think he could source replacement parts.
But, until Magic Square releases a new SD Grimlock, I really would prefer to keep Tiny Rex in as working an order as possible.

Don't think there's much anywhere to get one right now. I had bought one from an Ebay seller earlier in the year, but was given the runaround before they just refunded me for not having one. Then managed to score one from RoboToyBase, but once it finally arrived, found he was missing his left hand and I resumed the search for a replacement. BUT! to my huge surprise, the RTB folks came through and got me a replacement hand from the factory and shipped it out, which is both very fortunate, but also indicates whoever did make this guy either still has parts lying around for a rainy day, or just happens to have the means to produce more should the notion ever strike.
Syphur
Anyone know of somewhere to still get this?
Sanity Bleeds
So, after a bit of runaround, I finally got this guy in the post today and…. he's missing his left hand… Anybody know how likely replacement parts are from the manufacturer via retailers?

There's black that goes there? Mine has none. Well hell. Bust out the paint time.

Hahaha, it's obviously a makeup for the rediculously tight hinges. Swings and roundabouts I guess…
I might have to put it up for sale, limited edition. What are my offers??!!
foxracing
The only issue my first edition has is the single screw holding the entire dino head during robot mode. It had already turned white a year ago. There is also no paint on the "vents" so you have half of a good thing going on @axelcubic !
TIKnTIN
okay the "official" photos from HH have them in black. but that's the only reference i've seen so far. really odd!

Really? I checked the box and they are black in the recess. (Hard to tell in the pic but you can see where the black ends to the grey in the 2nd pic). Definitely painted on mine.

Just checked bobbyskullfaces vid and peaugh's, neither have them.
TIKnTIN
WTF??? stop it! yah got me all paranoid. just checked mine and i don't have any black on either sides for the vents.
scanned through the photos in this thread, what little there are, and i don't see any black on those areas with other ppl's figures.
is it painted or what? also the vents with the black look recessed, like there's a cut out???
axelcubic
Damn, the comedy continues. I was putting him next to my peach girl and noticed he's missing the black behind one of his vents.
Is this pic what you mean @TIKnTIN ?
I'm contacting the retailer, decide what to do after that.

TIKnTIN
@axelcubic, thx. can you roll back the back part of the head and take more direct shots of where the piece broke from?
and what are you're plans? are you going to try to contact your retailer and see if they can get you replacement/parts?
axelcubic
That's exactly how I broke it, pulling the dino head up. The neck hinge was also very tight so it didn't move and I assumed I must have pulled it up via the nose. Definitely safer to do it by the side pieces.
I did get the piece out. Let me know if you need any more pics, my camera is pretty balls but I think you get the idea.

it's only used to collapse the top portion of the head into the rest of the head in bot mode so the head is a slimmer backpack.
unfortunately it looks like it takes stress when you go to remove the dino head off over the bot head, or to cover it, as it flexes to clear the pointed parts on the top of the bot head.
@axelcubic, did you manage to get that broken plastic hinge portion out from being wedged in between the pin and the rest of the head?
also, any chance you can share some close ups photos of the broken sections? i'm trying to determine the best route of action to reinforce the plastic so i can try to prevent it from getting worse to the point of actually breaking.
DashCourageous
Never knew there was a hinge there. Always TF'd it at the back of the head hinge.
TIKnTIN
i think you'll need to find a way to separate the two halves of the head to properly fix this. heck ideally i think i need to as well so i can properly reinforce and fix my crack so it doesn't get any worse.
axelcubic
This is the bit that broke. Ive also got cracks in same same spots as your pic.
