Japanese Translator; GOKTIMUS PRIME who worked for Hasbro to write the English bio of MP-24 Star Saber reveals that the English version of the bio will be based on the IDW Transformers Universe.
Speaking to the fans from a Facebook Page titled Talk Transformers he revealed the following with the fans of the franchise:
“I can now reveal that MP Star Sabre was the third translation/adaptation job that I was doing for Hasbro. However, the English bio is completely different and unrelated to the Japanese one. The Japanese bio is based on Star Sabre’s appearance in Transformers Victory, where he was — character-wise — basically a clone of Optimus Prime (re: flawless heroic saviour archetype). The English bio is based on IDW Star Sabre, where Star Sabre is an incredibly dark character. In the Japanese booklet, Star Sabre’s function is “Autobot Supreme Commander.” For the Hasbro version, his function has been changed to ‘Duly Appointed Enforcer of the Tyrest Accord’ (at times abbreviated to ‘Tyrest Accord Enforcer’ or just “Autobot Enforcer” in different parts of the booklet). Japanese G1 tech specs don’t have mottos, and I only had access to the booklet and not the tech specs card (so I have no idea if TakaraTOMY have newly created a motto for him), but the motto I created for the Hasbro version is “Quidquid facio sancitur divinitus.”, which is Latin for “Everything I do is divinely sanctioned.” — and yes, I have written the motto in both Latin and English (as I did for Stinger ).
More reveals to come. “

Poor Hank Pym. Damn you Marvel cinematic universe! Damn you to hell! And take Scott Lang with you!

"They" were one guy, that's why he's mad. And I agree, repeatedly damning a whole country, even in jest, is a little too far.

Oh, sorry. Didn't realize talking about drowning an entire nation of people was a joke. Forgot that genocide is funny.
Next time ISIS start chanting "Death to America" – just chill dude – they are joking!
I have enough respect that I wouldn't joke about sinking the USA, not a lot to ask that similar respect is returned.
RMStunticon
Because bios matter and totally affect a figure.
NotRamjet97
Dude, chill. They were just joking.

You know, I was actually kinda agreeing with your points until you became so overtly racist. Thats right – blame an entire country for something one douche did – maybe I should blame all Americans for the racist crap you are writing here Frankly I'm surprised the admins allow it.
In case you couldn't guess, I'm from Australia and guess what? I'll be buying the Japanese release, not the farce the Aus release is shaping up to be. It's just been a stupid call all round, Hasbro asked Griffin (whom I otherwise have a lot of respect for) to offer up someone to do a bio and unfortunately he picked the one guy who would completely f-up the character and would not be able to resist making it about himself by chucking in Latin quotes and all the other silly shit that this bio is shaping up to be. It's f'ed, but I don't really care enough to picket Hasbro headquarters about it.
Blame the writer – not the country he lives in –

Well this is hardly the first time the IDW continuity finds it's way into places where it doesn't belong.

Oh thanks. Sorry for the trouble, but I haven’t kept up with this thread since most of it is unimportant.

What's up with the whole „Sabre“-thing anyway? Do people just don't know his name or did an English source call him „Star Sabre“?
EDIT: I know you can write both with the same meaning, but it's an official name for the character so I'm curious.

I prefer the IDW interpretation, but that thing is just poorly written. It was like he tried to cram in every characteristic of the IDW version and just gave a laundry list of every thing he did in IDW; first he did this, then he did that, then he did this…
If this is what people have been arguing about then we should all be shame-faced, those who argued and those who read them because none of us are getting that time back over this poorly written piece of "bio." And that's bio in quotes, because I am being very loose with that word..

Note – the later post showed SS Function as "Autobot Enforcer" instead of duly appointed enforcer… Below is the full bio:
From TF Religion Facebook
Here is the bio that I wrote for MP Star Sabre:
————————————————————
Function: Duly Appointed Enforcer of the Tyrest Accord
"Everything I do is divinely sanctioned."
Star Sabre was among a group of pacifistic but zealous Cybertronians who initially refused to participate in the Great War known as the Circle of Light. The Circle left Cybertron and founded a new colony known as Crystal City on Theophany. Star Sabre views non-believers with contempt, and intends to exterminate them, a view that was quickly rejected by the Circle's leader, Dai Atlas. Star Sabre then allied himself with Chief Justice Tyrest, betraying the Circle. Star Sabre considers non-believers as apostates and heretics, and that only those who follow their views are worthy of Primus' love and approval. As a Motorvator, his Spark is housed in a smaller robot known as Sabre. Sabre can combine with a weapons platform known as the Victory Star to form Star Sabre. As daring as Sabre is, he is utterly fearless as Star Sabre. Wields a short sword known as the Gladius Stellae, and the larger Great Sword. Radical beliefs allows his Great Sword to project beams and force fields. Transforming into a supersonic jet, Sabre can combine with the V-Star module to form a larger and more powerful jet. The V-Star is also capable of remote operation. Carries a formidable laser rifle. Equipped with head-mounted rotary photon cannons and versatile shoulder-mounted grand blasters, capable of launching proton and psycho missiles; thought weapons that induce paralysing fear. In-built matter drive allows Star Sabre to teleport. Teleportation creates a bright purple flash which can give his position away to enemies. Star Sabre's greatest weakness is the social isolation brought about by his radicalised views.

Guys come on, at least gaga is making actual arguments and not just flat out name calling like other antagonistic jerks, but southtownkid when you respond to those singular posters who are entirely disrespectful and dismissive of others opinions, you are fanning the flames, and only furthering their belief that fans will whine at anything, regardless as to it being incredibly rude for them call others names, rather than engaging with them and finding out why this irks them so much
Besides it shouldn't be about trying to convert others to your mindset, simply to voice and explain why you think what you do, and vice versa, and both of you have already voiced your opinions and thoughts thoroughly enough that if someone doesn't understand, it's on them, not you
Im only posting Because I know neither of you are just buttheads posting a-hole comments, and I think it's totally ok to have vastly different opinions and still be freinds

I'm not talking about bios. I'm fine with IDW bios being used for toys that represent IDW characters. You really don't get it.
Starscream Gaga
Where are the other examples of Transformers being given IDW bios instead of their originals? Generations Tailgate? Skids? Swerve? Whirl? Nope, and most of those are toys OF the IDW characters. The closest to come to such a thing was Waspinator and rather instead they chose to write the bio as vague as possible.
And this is most definitely not being shoved done your throat. Or were you intending on paying the $300 AUD this release is likely to cost?
SouthtownKid
Yeah, over and over. If it's so meaningless, you can let it die, too. I only reply to people keeping this topic going.
It's possible to enjoy the IDW comics without wanting them shoved down our throats all the time, especially where they don't belong, like here. I'm not the only person who sees and resents the marginalizing of TF history, particularly the Japanese side, in favor of new IDW fiction. As its own thing, it's been great. But we don't have to erase the original stuff to have it.
If you don't see the problem, you probably don't care much about the original stuff. Which is perfectly fine. But the problem exists for those of us who do.
Starscream Gaga
What larger trend? The one you've completely made up?
And yeah, I've replied to the thread, pointing out exactly why this bio is meaningless.
SouthtownKid
Again, I'm not complaining about this specifically so much as the larger trend, and you sure have replied enough in this thread for someone with nothing to say about it.
Starscream Gaga
Southtownkid, no offense, but at this point you're just embarrassing yourself by complaining about something so trivial so much. Just let it drop.
SouthtownKid
Yeah, not like you and him complaining in the other direction.
