Unicron.com recently sat down with Jeff Kline, an executive producer for numerous Transformers projects of recent years including Transformers Prime, Rescue Bots, and most recently Robots In Disguise (2015). The interview provides some fantastic details about the Transformers Prime show and how it will continue its impact on Robots in Disguise. Most importantly, Mr. Kline has revealed/confirmed that season 1 of RID is complete and production for season 2 is already under way.
Jeff Kline: TRANSFORMERS: ROBOTS IS DISGUISE IS THE OFFICIAL NAME. RID IS CURRENTLY WRAPPING PRODUCTION ON 26 EPS. FOR SEASON 1… AND WRITING/RECORDING/BOARDING FOR SEASON 2. IT’S SLATED TO PREMIERE ON CARTOON NETWORK IN THE NEXT MONTH OR TWO, THOUGH I HAVEN’T YET HEARD A FIRM “PREMIERE DATE.” BUT, HONESTLY, MY CONTRACT WITH HASBRO ENDED IN DECEMBER, SO I MIGHT BE THE VERY LAST PERSON TO KNOW! (AFTER 5+ YEARS, FELT LIKE IT WAS TIME TO LIVE WITH MY FAMILY IN MAINE AGAIN…)Make the jump to read the full interview and get all of the details by Mr. Kline. Be sure to also comment in our discussion link below about RID season 2 (and 1, of course)!

Holy shit he's not.
What is Kline actually like in person.
Slingshot
Kline isn't very good at interviews.
I loved the seriousness of Prime, and RID still looks to be good. However, calling the cast from Prime soulless isn't the best way to convince people to like RID.

Yeah, I love that scene! It's a neat twist on the militarism of the franchise. The fact that the TFP Autobots function like friends instead of an army is one of the reasons I absolutely love that show.

Transformers: Prime "Family"
In the season 3 episode "Chain Of Command" Optimus Addressed this to Ultra Magnus. The scene was when Ultra Magnus was criticizing Wheel Jack and the others about responsibilities they were uninetersted and they do show it, then Optimus arrived from patrolling in his new flight mode, everyone's excited to see him. Optimus noticing his Second in Command being left out. Optimus explained that while they were all soldiers back in the War for Cybertron, here on earth the Autobots became more of that. At the end of the episode he Optimus further explained to Magnus that they all became family.

Why are they torturing us

And yet.. no release date for the US..

The show crew said that the show was planned for 65 Episode only, which equals 3 seasons
everything that was planned for S3 was moved and rushed into S2, because Hasbro ordered them to do the Beast Hunters stuff for the final seaso at the last minute

Alex Irvine's writing an episode….interesting.
and more fembots….sounds great to me.
Knightdramon
No it wasn't. Unless I'm mistaken, the original premise was for 5 or so seasons.
Which is why season 2 feels so condensed [Mech, Airrachnid, Breakdown, Dreadwind storylines] and S3 so…whatever, with a forced theme as well.
TheSoundwave
I'm looking forward to this show more and more. It looks like it's going to be fun and entertaining, and hold the same character and personality Prime had, while losing some of the seriousness and darkness.
It's awesome that they're going this direction, we've seen the war, now it's time for a more humorous approach. Oh, and now there's no excuse for haters whining about it "not being a realistic war story."
Alphard
Awwwww the thing about how he names a lot of characters "Darby" is cuteee

Prime was always intended to end in Season 3.

Glad to hear about more fembots coming later on in the series. Perhaps this is a sign of Windblade showing up?
Also I sort of like how the tone reflects Bumblebee's character in this series because unlike Optimus he doesn't have that baggage and grim nature at all so it's nice to see that the goofy and cheerful nature reflects that. Hopefully they'll be able to take what made some of the Autobot interactions work and build upon it to make it feel like BW in a way.
General Magnus
Heeh, only the crab dude looks really silly, the others look original at least. But I´m skeptical of this show.

"MEANING WE CAN ACTUALLY TAKE THE TIME TO SET-UP A JOKE, AND NOT FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT. "
"LIGHTER. BRIGHTER. EVEN A LITTLE GOOFIER. 'CUZ WE'VE ALWAYS VIEWED THE AUTOBOTS (AND DECEPTICONS) AS PEOPLE, NOT MACHINES. AND PEOPLE ARE FUNNY!"
So, that's what this franchise has been missing…slapstick. Great! Can't wait to see fights devolve into energon pie throwing contests or bots getting doused with seltzer water all while a comedic track plays in the background.
Say what you will about Prime, it had serious issues, but is this garbage really the Transformers show that people want? A Rescue Bots 2.0? A show that's going to misappropriate the Pokémon gotta catch them all trope but mix in some zaniness so that they can say it's different? I get that some people say kids were scared by the darkness of Prime, but is this show the answer? In a time where Hasbro is trying to grow the fan base, surely they could've found a better middle ground between Rescue Bots and Prime than this to appeal to a larger audience.
By the way, the designs for the Decepticons in this show are too ridiculous to take them as a credible threat. They look like the short bus members of the Cons:
Grimlock, what have they done to you:
I thought the Dinobot's treatment in TFA was awful, but this…wow! Must be an example of the "goofier" aspect of the show.
neospark1
Omg. Really? Realllly?
"There's no ancient war being fought, meaning we can actually take the time to set-up a
joke …"
Transformers …
Robots in disguise (except for the Decepticons).
Autobots rage their battle to destroy the evil jokes of the Decepticons.
Transformers …
Take time to set up jokes.
Transformers …
Who needs 4 million years of war?
The Transformers. Meow.
Even not counting the backbone of what these robots are about, what do you call tracking down and battling a horde of escaped Decepticons? A minor misunderstanding that involves making bad jokes when fighting (ugh) Bisque the Decepticon googling stalkeyed monster?
Facepalm for the epic win. Ugh.
TFW10
its almost TFP all over again with 2D instead of 3D
will see how good it will turn out to be
Chopperface
Kline voiced no objection to the interviewers' claim that Arcee was a strong character. So I'm not expecting much.
Sideways77
So all future female characters will do 50 flips in the air and destroy whole brigades of generics?
Or will they actually be written good and not be Arcee 2.0?
