Concept artist Tom Stockwell has shared some artwork which he provided for Jagex for their sadly now closed Transformers Universe MOTA game. Tom, who was a senior artist for the project, has shared artwork including designs of Ratchet, Hound, a Transformers Prime inspired Arcee and a Megatron best described as Transformers Prime Megatron with a tank alternate mode. The artwork is awesome, and it is a shame we never got to see these designs fully realised.
Check out the artwork at Tom Stockwell’s portfolio, Artstation (some non-TF pieces may be considered unsafe for work)

Yeah, sure! I'm not too sure if any of this is common knowledge or anything buut after a lot of digging, i found the pages for some of the artists (i think) who worked on the game.

I also found some deviantart pages that also catalogue the bots along with some other misc transformers content. Like i said i don't know if everybody already found this but it took me a while to find all of these on my own as someone who didnt have any experience with TF:U in its short lifespan. Of course theres also 2 wikis for the game i found, one entire fandom page for it and the actual panel on the TFwiki.

Sweet! Is it ok if you post some links of them here?

Hey fellas, i got a *lot* of concept art and game art if anyone is still interested in this i've been collecting. Lots of links to artstations and the wikis and whatnot. Interesting stuff!

I love the Universe designs. Aside from the Prime-style faces, I still think they look too plain and are weirdly proportioned. I could use a bit more detail (not Bayverse-level detail, just something to break up the plainness). But the body designs are fantastic. They're reminiscent of Prime, but they feel more varied. I've always said that Prime had 3 different body types…light, medium, and bruiser. And most of the Prime robots reused the same 3 transformation schemes. These feel more diverse and creative. In my opinion, they have one of the strongest cool factors in the brand.
It's really a shame this game was cancelled. Based on the beta, I'd probably rank it among my favorite modern Transformers media. It's weird to me that cancelling the game was even viable. I can't begin to imagine how much it must have cost to make all this art, the 3D models and environments, the soundtrack, the coding, etc. If the servers were too expensive to maintain, why not just re-work it into a single player game and charge ten bucks for a download? At least they'd have made some of their money back, instead of essentially throwing it away.

??? They weren't really intended to resemble G1 much. This is pretty much just a more detailed version of Prime's aesthetic, which this game was intended to come out along side.

god these designs….
How the hell were THESE the best medium between old chunky designs and the movies?

What an interesting throwback. Today, Tom Stockwell reposted the two artworks that started this thread: Breakdown and Perceptor

I like the idea behind Duststorm a female Decepticon dune buggy. Design wasn't the best but the idea was cool.
I want that as a future character for sure.
RobotKnight95
It's used in Diabla's trailer and on Cameo's in-game model, that's about all I know. I think Swagger might have the same holo-driver but I'd have to re-check.
I enjoy both but I feel the newer characters lack personality. The Universe discussion thread showed there was intended characterization planned but never implemented beyond individual quotes.
On the subject of toys, I'm not surprised not many were invested with wanting third party version of the characters as a result of Universe's overall failure and cancellation alongside the Prime/Universe aesthetic being complicated. Still, if figures ever come out for these characters, licensed or otherwise, I'd enjoy adding them to my collection.

Because it's her body, her choices. No one can tell her different.
Decepticons
Due to the game being cancelled, hopefully these designs can be utilized in the future for a live-action reboot.

It's a concept art, what do you expect? They want it to look clean. Did you really expect to see kibbles part hanging around?
Predak1ng
Agree. If you don't like it don't comment. More mature to leave the thread than spread hate.

For some reason the look and feel reminds me "Destiny" the video game

If you want honesty, I would rather buy Beast Wars 3P figures if I had the choice…
