The Toys R Us exclusive Optimus Prime Evolution 2 pack which was sighted in Hong Kong earlier this month, has now surfaced stateside. 2005 boards member C130 Ginrai spotted this set in a Toys R Us in Tustin, California.
This set features Optimus Prime(Evolutions Then) using the Classic 2006 mold. Meanwhile Optimus Prime(Evolutions Now) uses the Evasion Mode Optimus Prime mold. Unlike the initial stock photos however, the Classics Optimus here now features painted yellow eyes. Meanwhile Evasion Optimus no longer has the battle mask head sculpt.

That looks awesome! I'm going to order that trailer now that I have a figure to match it with.

Hmm, I think I like this one. Only downsides are the clear windows and I think the lack of paint on the roof, although I'm not sure how I feel about that. evasion prime will go in a junk bin.

I feel it matches pretty well, out of all the Voyager Primes I have – just a shade darker than Classics Prime but not as dark as Henkei Prime (or at least my KO version).

Does the blue on this one match the FP trailer?

Thanks Nevermore. Those are them.

My set arrived from TRU.com last night. This is the first version of the Classic mold I've owned, and I sure do love it so far. I would have liked more detailing on the weapons, but overall i actually like the deco better on the evolution version.
Also, for Evasion Prime's alt mode, it seems like this would be the one to give a rusty paint job to.

Anytime guys glad to be of service! First thing I did with Evolution Optimus Prime was swap his smooth chromey thighs (shades of SDCC Metroplex) onto my old KO Henkei Optimus (I'd have done the waist too but one of the screws broke off on Evolution Prime). Here he is with an ArtTek gun:
Although I like the newer figure very much (painted knees/toes, red paint on the lower cab instead of blue plastic, toy accurate yellow eyes very striking) in the end the old updated standby still won out a place in the display because of the blue light piped cartoon eyes, blue windshield, partially blue fists, painted windows on top of shoulders, TWO Autobot shoulder emblems, some reprolabels for his knees and just overall better quality, fit and finish (even for a KO).
That's why I held onto this bad boy from the now defunct kotoys.com "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up" – Ferris Bueller
And Evolution Prime's now lack of chrome thighs doesn't hurt him in vehicle mode displayed here with the chromed smokestacks/gun and the Fansproject trailer:

Ooh, I'd like to see what he looks like in the DIA suit!
Really loving this version, I think out of all the decos over the years this may be my favorite, although I have yet to see the Cloud version in person and that looks great too. It's fun getting reacquainted with a toy that was superb when it came out and just as good so many years later. It's a little bittersweet because it's a reminder of how much more robust toys were built back then. :/

It still sucks, but I need the cab to plug into Trailer Force.
But as a figure itself, Voyager Classics Optimus is overrated garbage. Straight up. I have a hard time seeing what there would have been to get excited about 8 years ago. But now? It doesn't stand up to anything. As a representation of Optimus Prime, it is surrounded by figures released before and since that are far superior. You guys have 'Emperor's New Clothes' talked yourselves into believing it's great, but it isn't. It's ridiculous.
You're also forgetting this set came with Evasion Optimus, which IS actually a great toy.

Got one today for $26 with MP Sunstorm.

It's still amazing to me that this is the mold you ranted so much about and yet you still bought it

Ah. I was hoping it was just some hidden tab I was missing. Oh well.

I picked this set up today. I bought one set and opened it up to discover a few problems with the Classics Prime. His head wasn't on there correctly. It was slightly crooked. He also had yellow paint splashed on random spots of his arm kibble. The red rooftop thingy was also super loose. I bought a second one to compare and it didn't have any of those problems so I took the first one back.
The arms aren't super tight nor are they super loose. The only thing that really makes them appear super loose is if you try having him hold the giant red gun. But he holds the smaller black gun just fine.
Overall, I'm please with this figure. I wish the arms were a little tighter but it doesn't kill the figure for me. Years ago I bought the Henkei Megatron but wasn't willing to shell out the extra dough for the Henkei Optimus so it's nice to finally have a nicer Optimus to go with that Megatron.

Picked this up. Is Voyager Classics Optimus' top really not plug into anything in truck mode? It just flops around, even with the smokestacks plugged in behind.
Legs, shoulders, and front panels are all fine. But that floppy roof is really annoying. It almost doesn't want to stay in place just sitting there in truck mode. It's lucky the only thing I ever plan to use it for is to be plugged into Xovergen Trailer Force.
It's still amazing to me that this is the mold people rave so much about. I don't understand what is supposed to be good about it. Besides the deco. The deco is good.

Agh…. I need it.
