Next up in our series of gallery updates, we have a look at the Fan-built ‘bot herself, Windblade! She’s billed as “the first fan-built bot” as well as being the 30th in the series of 30 special edition releases to commemorate 30 years of Transformers. She’s also something quite rare in modern Transformers – a complete new character rather than a homage or a reference to someone in the past lore.
Windblade has evidently had a lot of time spent on her toy. From her detailed paint apps to her sword complete with scabbard and removable fan in her “hair”, Windblade really does live up to the billing of being a bit special. She’s got a cool design with a few nice touches, including the ability to angle her VTOLs forward, the aforementioned removable fan, and the sword, which can be sheathed in a scabbard with a variety of different posing options. The scabbard has tabs on either side which can fit into any of the “cuts” for the swivel joints as well as groves on the jet nosecone, so Windblade can wear her sword on her back, her hip, and so on. The scabbard also has a 5mm handgrip allowing you to do some nifty poses involving Windblade drawing her sword – we quickly found she could do a lot of fun samurai poses.
We really like Windblade and hope that we can see more toys with her standard of design, detail and “nice touches” come along soon enough. Check out our gallery and see if you agree:

I know I'm late to the party here, but anyways….
Windblade is a really well done figure. My only gripes are that the transform is not easy. And the red shins stick out like a sore thumb. I mean really bad. I rate this figure 7 out of 10.

Wow, She is way more gorgeous than I had even hoped! Does anyone know any where that would ship her to the UK?
AlexaStar
The toy looks gorgeous and I'm definitely picking her up.
Does anyone know what comic she comes with?
[Wing_Saber-X]
Agreed. More 'fandom-friendly' in terms of overall character structure and does not forcabaly feel like a Mary Sue type character compared to Drift.
so, would someone kindly take a pic of the 'couple' for me? Want to see how good they would look next to each other.
^But..Arcee!

I would never deny that Drift and Windblade have very similar aesthetics. It's just that Drift never had the whole Fan-Built-Bot brouhaha atached to his character. Besides, Windblade's a better character anyway thanks to the fact that her debut piece is written by a much better writer.

But… Rodimus!

^Eh, when I have her in my collection, I'm putting her on display with Drift and Banzaitron. Japanese-themed characters.
also, she and Drifto-san should totally be an item.

Unless I was really out of the loop at the time, I don't believe that Drift was ever billed as a fan chosen character. Windblade had a majorly known series of polls, that many of the fans voted on, that decided on just about every detail of her character. Drift never had any of those things. The only major news attached to Drift was that he was MaCarthy's absolute-super-duper-favorite-character-in-the-history-of-ever!!

*cough* *cough* Drift *cough*
Oh,,, did I say that out loud?
Also after Sarah Stone's art has grown on me,,, "why so serious?"
femmebotfangirl
Awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome! Just need mine to be shipped.
Archaea
Already have my Rattrap, and have 3 of these pre-order along with Arcee and Chromia.
2 for me, and one for my brother.
Painting the shins black and enhancing the red. I'll be converting the other into another robot all together.

I really like this pic too… great gallery Si!!
Have to admit, wasn't that excited b4, but now that I've seen all these poses, I'll buy her.
MEGATRON2099

rosewater

starscream-99

I'm going to pretend she's an older Windblade that took an Earth mode, because she does look quite different from her comics appearance.
She's a great character in her miniseries, and I wouldn't mind seeing her become part of the greater Transformers mythos. Her toy isn't as good as I'd like, and her headsculpt is very off from Stone's portrayal, but I'm still nabbing her, Chromia, and Arcee.
Birdmech3077
…and just after I swore off non-Masterpieces forever.
She looks like a fun little figure. Will buy.
Autovolt 127
That just reminds me of Mari Maya from Samurai Flamenco.

Damn, I really want the comics for Windblade, seems very interesting.
Anyways, truly Hasbro's best year with:
Windblade, Arcee, Chromia, Jetfire, Whirl, Roadbuster, Brainwave
Has there ever this amount of great releases by Hasbro???
