Facebook user Oscar Fung has posted some pictures of the Toys “R” Us exclusive Optimus Prime Evolutions 2-pack. The 2-pack includes a recolor of the Classics Optimus Prime from 2006 with a 1984 toy color scheme. The Evasion Optimus Prime is also recolored for the 2-pack. Unfortunately he doesn’t appear to have the head remold with the faceplate. Hopefully we will be seeing this set in other countries soon.

I got mine this week, finally. Damn shame about the lack of faceplate on Ev Prime, but still a good set, since I don't have another version of that mold. And Classics Prime is nice to have out again, I had forgotten how solid he is. My wind vane on the roof feels a tad ill fitting, but other than that he is a brick. A shiny, chromed, ass kicking brick.

Picked this up at TRU yesterday. I recall seeing a few people post in here that they would rather have the original Classics Prime in this than the one that comes with this set, so if anyone wants one with original Classics Prime, let me know. At cost, plus shipping.

Only the legs being chromed looks random.
SouthtownKid
What does that have to do with the legs?

Except that toy has chrome smoke stacks and robot grill and no grey arms.

Not random:

I don't have a Classics Prime and this one does look good. The chrome legs and waist are a little random but I don't mind. The chrome grill is nice. However AOE Prime… His vehicle looks good, his legs look great but his waist up is terrible. Those huge chunks of colour are bad but I would be OK with it if it wasn't for those windows.
Still, there are a lot of nice parts and most Classics toys have really high prices and Optimus is probably the same so I could use this to get him for a decent price. Maybe I could leave AOE Prime in vehicle mode.

Anyway to get a picture of the UPC?

For anyone in Hong Kong wanting to get their hands on this it is available for PREORDER on the Toys R US Hong Kong website until September the 2nd.
There are only 110 pieces available and the maximum you can buy are 2.

You can pick them up on the 8th September in store (or pay to have it delivered to your door).

That third party kit may be the only think keeping me from throwing Evasion Mode Optimus in my kids pile for my nephews to play with. If we can cover up enough of the Bayformerness, it might be salvaged.

Do we really need another classic version of Optimus? I know the G1 version has been done to death as well.
BladeStorm
Where did he find this?
I've been to 3 different TRU here in Hong Kong repeatedly over the last 2 weeks and am yet to find it on the shelves.
Shin Densetsu
This changed quite a bit from the initial stock images transformers Columbia leaked a while back. Movie Optimus now lacks the battle mask, meanwhile the eyes on classics Optimus are now painted yellow, furthering more the G1 toy homage. Subtle change but awesome to me.
I'm sold. Movie Optimus looks how he did in the movie in robot mode sans the rust and dust. So in a way that's reason for me to own it.

Yikes, what a way to ruin a figure. The entire appeal of Evasion Prime is the perfect transformation and incredible screen accuracy. So now it parts-forms and has incredibly ill-fitting add-on parts to try (and fail) to change the aesthetic.
What a waste. 3rd Parties are running out of ideas.
Fallout
true… and there's like two k-marts in my town lol. but $60 for a faceplate isn't ideal. ah well.
remember when we were hoping this would have HTS convoy? and i was wxcited for a deluxe sized evasion prime lol

I think both look kind of awful. Glad people who don't own a Classics Prime get a chance to get their hands on the mold, relatively cheap, but as with a couple other recent releases, chrome in one part and lack of paint in others make it just look very, very cheap.
The least they could have done was give it tinted windows. Entire transparent white ones only make the lack of paint on the chest that more obvious.
Still, beats paying through the nose for the other option: Cloud Optimus, and to end on a positive note: both of these toys' alt modes look fine enough.

Nope, the Kmart-exclusive Platinum Optimus/Grimlock has a faceplated Prime too.
Fallout
wtf? so basically you have to get autobots united to get the faceplate? bullshit.

I assume you're going for the perfect movie 1-3 deco. The one problem I see is you'd have to swap Evolution's Wheel's with Takara's as they don't have painted rims.
Really this and Takara's Movie Advanced figures are the closest to perfect.
The evolution just needs silver paint on the shoulder pieces (but not on the part that ends up outside on the alt mode, red paint on the chest as opposed to silver (The blue fake doors work though) and painted rims and silver fists (or scratched off blue paint). Takara's needs more flames on the legs and alt mode as well as blue fake doors.

I believe I will be picking up one of these sets because I may need the legs from this Evasion Prime. So far, I have not been thrilled with any of the paint jobs offered for this figure. I LOVE the mold, but the paint aps have left a lot to be desired. I am now thinking I may need to combine the best features from a few difference examples to get the look I want down pat. For example, I think I will start with the Takara Advanced version and swap out Prime's chest grille for the chrome one found on the Platinum Edition. Then I need me some flames on those legs, so I may swap out some pieces to get the flame sections on the Evolution Edition's legs. That'll get me 90% of the way there. There may be other adjustments needed.
