Official You Tube Channel of the Sony Playstation has uploaded a new video going behind the scenes of Transformers: Age Of Extinction tie-in game; Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark.
In this video, the legendary voice actor and the voice of Optimus Prime; Mr. Peter Cullen explains what the Dark Spark is and how it plays a major role in this game. We’ll stop the explanation here and let you hear it in Mr. Cullen’s own voice:
“The voice of Optimus Prime introduces the next chapter in the legendary war of robots. How the team behind Rise of the Dark Spark is bridging the different worlds of Transformers and creating a story that any fan of the franchise can enjoy.”
Galvacron 3
Just War For Cybertron through playing Fall helps too at least on the FOC side of the story as it takes place inbetween War For Cybertron and Fall Of Cybertron.

Why would anyone feel sorry for Peter? He makes a healthy living doing something he's truly passionate about.
LigerPrime
Ah, thanks for the reply! I think I'll wait for the reviews before buying this as its not produced by High Moon.
Paxtin
As I understand it, it's both. Basically a multiverse scenario.
Well sorry…Cause honestly I don't know how else I should feel about this.
LigerPrime
Guys what continuity is this based on? I'm confused because Megatron and Bruticus looks like they're from he WFC and FOC series but we have Optimus in his AOE form. My bad because I'm so out of the loop in terms of gaming.
Anguirus
Which is extremely condescending.
Autovolt 127
I feel like Peter Cullen's talent is being wasted on just being Optimus Prime, especially when his Optimus is characterized as the stoic epic movie narrator.
Paxtin
I havn't seen anyone really hating on Cullen. Most of us more feel sorry for him.
Anguirus
I'm not sure what's worse, the anger or the condescension directed towards a perfectly nice guy doing a perfectly reasonable job. It's only happening because we all worshipped him for doing essentially the same thing back in 1984, and now we have unhealthy expectations for literally everything he does.
Perspective, people. When you are down the rabbit hole of Transformers far enough to hate on Peter Cullen, come up for air.

Looks pretty ok. I'll grab it after the first price drop.
vektsilver
I feel bad for Peter Cullen having to read that scripted material you can tell he doesnt really want to.
Its kind of sad this game is trying to make the movie verse canon when it cant even establish one cannon of its own …. Explosions arent canon people lol.
This game may possibly be fun but I deplore its use of the WFC and FOC content to try and make us like the movies like they are 1 universe.
F@#$ that
AgentAlabama113
Looks good. We finally have seen the Dark Spark, and some pretty good game parts. Really looking forward to this.
YoungPrime
THANK YOU!
Doesn't even warrant a $20 used copy unless you play it and give it back to GameStop in under 7 days.
YoungPrime
Yeah, its just a check at this point.
Grim Muk
Exactly, which could tie-in Galvatron/Megs.
Heck, let's bring Tripticon back while we're at it, he was awesome in WFC.
Anguirus
Is it possible to be cynical about the asset re-use in this game and yet still think it looks more clever and fun than your typical "cheap movie tie-in" game?

I think a video supposed to promote your upcoming product should do a better job than 'put the voice actor in front of the camera and let him improvise'.
You're right, there's definitely nothing wrong with his manner of speech, it's just that – in this video- it comes off as if he's clueless or reading lines that are not his.
Again, this is not negative critism from me towards Mr. Cullen at all – I find it completely understandable a voice actor brought in to record his lines has no clear idea of what the game would be all about, other than a general overview and the stuff that's in his script.
He's not there as part of the development team, building the levels and what not.
I guess all it boils down to for me is that this is yet another example of how this game looks like it's only given the bare minimal effort to be produced and promoted, which is a shame, especially when you compare it to WFC/FOC.
You're sort of right, but let's not forget: they did decide to purposely lean on the credibility WFC/FOC has built up.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying those games were the end-all of Transformers (or gaming in general), but they were generally well received, even outside of Transformers fandom. It's seen in a more positive light (critically speaking, let's not brush away the fact the movies does have a lot of fans and continues to make money) than anything Transformers Michael Bay has been involved in and had quite the reach in the world of videogames.
It's smart that Activision/developer went with heavy assets reuse, because that means they'll have to spend less time setting up the building blocks and can go into actual content creation much sooner.
But don't for even a second think that the publisher is doing this so they can actually churn out an incredibly awesome movie tie-in game for once (even though a developer's stance is always: let's make this the best we can).
They're doing this because it saves them time and money, and gives them a little extra hype/sales boost, because hey, it's tied to those other games people liked. They could have gone with just reusing all the Earth assets from the previous game (DOTM is using the exact same engine/system), and build a game that's still 'movie only', but they did not.

He's the reason? It has nothing to do with the shorter development time? This is a movie tie in so if you expect this to have the quality of an average AAA game that has 2-3 years of development then your current attitude is down to your own naivety.
