Another new Transformers: Age of Extinction toy sighting for you! The Grimlock Evolution Two-Pack was spotted in Toys R Us in Davenport, Iowa, by 2005 Boards member Depthcharge. The set, which is only available at Toys R Us stores, features a slightly recolored version of Age of Extinction Grimlock alongside the Transformers Energon Grimlock, who is included in the set to represent the original Generation 1 Grimlock. The set also includes a bonus accessory, a red version of the sword that came with Generation 1 Razorclaw, which is included to give the Energon Grimlock a weapon styled after the sword that Generation 1 Grimlock wielded.

Saw this at the local TRU today. Picked it up. Put it back down. Walked away.

You actually think kids these days even know who energon grimlock is?! Lol
All kids know are skylanders and lego.. I doubt many kids even play with hasbro or mattel toys

How about a loose pic?

oh you're not missing much without the combing gimmick, it was tacked on and hideous. to be fair, energon grimlock and swoop were actually decent figures for the energon era, too bad they used such a bootleg-like colors for this 2pack

The evolution two pack is a lot better in my opinion

Gracias, amigo!
Hmm, tough call there. I like the silver and gold-bronze on the original, but I do like the added black accents on the Evolution one.

Any chance someone might be able to give a side-by-side comparison between the Evolutions AOE Grimlock and the mass-retail version? Even if it's just in-package, at-the-store shots? I'd like to see a direct comparison of the differences in paint apps/colors, since I was initially holding off on getting the Voyager until this pack showed up.

The sword in the Silver Knight set is from Rampage while the one in this set is from Razorclaw.
Shin Densetsu
Pretty much why I want it

great!!!! now i need to go over there and get them…stupid moline toys r us didn't have anything new for ever…i think we got passed on the last 2 waves of classics for this gem

The Energon Grimlock is okay as long as you keep him in dino mode. Good place to put him on your Classics shelf is with Season 3 characters since he rarely transformed into robot mode. Too bad they didn't do Swoop as well. Would've made more sense than pairing Strafe with a DotM minicon with no new paint apps whatsoever. On the other hand, this might make Energon Swoop suddenly in higher demand on the secondary market…

I'll get them because Voy. Grim has better paint apps, and because I'm missing that E. Grimlock mold…
Though I really kinda sorta need Swoop as well.
RedAlert Rescue
That's the second time i've seen that Prime-RID Arcee/Transmutate test shot – I really would like to know the story behind it (I'd quite like to see the vehicle mode too).
I think it needs it's own thread.

Anyway..
"Grimlock" That Energon Grimmy is slightly more useful if Hasbro also release Energon Swoop (perhaps accented in G1 toy red this time).
I like the sword – I find that amusing it's a Predacon sword….
Is it Rampage's sword twice or was the other one Razorclaws as a Predacon sword has also been given to Silver Knight Optimus too. ( I could never tell the Predacons swords or the Aerialbots guns apart very easily as they are so similar looking and all the same colour and as I hardly even had them in robot mode).
I don't actually hate Energon Grimlock as much as some people do – In some ways I like him more than FOC Grimlock – he's a bit less gappy for a start.

i would back the movie figures if hasbro even care 1%of the people who buy these toys the past movie figure most of them are made so cheap its if they want you to buy something thats going to break with ease i been collecting for years ive seen when hasbro cared and when they just dont care. in a line you always get shelf warmers and even a few poor quality control figures. but many of my and my friends and family have gotten the first movie figure most are all broken and it not by play where its just cheap stuff then revenge of the fallen you would think they learn not to sell kids and collectors the same cheap stuff nope. i my self never bought any dark of the moon figure cause how cheap they where but every one i know suffer from the same cheap toys. now movie 4 with chrome, gold plastic and rubber limbs and such no thanks i bet it all starts shattering drying out just like be for all the movie is to sell cheap toy at an high cost no matter the fan

The AOE Grimlock in this pack is quite possibly a bit more movie accurate. His robot face is black in the film, as so I've heard in rumorland. Also you can see more solid colors on this Grimlock. Notice his t-rex head appears completely sliver now besides under the eyes. The reg. Hasbro AOE voyager has more pops of that copper-like color on it.
Also that silver skirting on the top legs looks very good, as opposed to keeping it all copper.
The more I look at it… it's pretty much the Takara version and the Hasbro version decos put together.
The t-rex arms are black instead of copper, just like the Takara one whichs strives for closer movie accuracy.
Quite a bit of black and sliver on this guy, evoking the leader class Grimlock's robot mode deco.

i am as far as collecting useless cheap toys that will degrade, crack, crumble and is very often assemble poorly. yes i have a small hope things will get better but not if current hasbro has anything to say about it and yes im on a transformers fan site complaining cause see and hearing people wanting to buy any piece of crap hasbro gives out with out a care supports more cheaply crap. hell i found knock offs at dollar store's that hold up even better than most of the movie verse figures as a whole. its now to the point that collecting an entire line means nothing if the figures that wont stand the test of time multiple repaint of figure that never sell but lord know a new paint job on a cheap toy make it worth double at time triple cost make senses. chrome that will flake off gold plastic on every thing and we all know how well gold plastic holds up and exclusive figures that have a combining gimmick with out its counter part to combine with is like selling a toy no screws to hold it together but if you want the screws to complete it tough shit go look on the after market.

it's movie time.. i don't understand what the problem is. i'm not hasbro's biggest fan.. but we're less than a month away from a movie that was VERY expensive to make.. it makes MORE sense to prioritize the movie toys over the IDW stuff.. like i said, this movie was very expensive to make and hasbro needs to build up excitement for it.
so, i don't know why you're banging your head because of something that makes a whole hell of a lot more sense than holding off on releasing the movie toys. i think we can agree that the IDW generations figures are more meant for collectors than they are for kids, right?.. the movie figures on the other hand attract a wider range of people kids, collectors, people just getting back into the franchise, etc.. hence all of the other stuff hasbro has released along with the classic deluxe, voyager, and leaders.
hell.. one of the targets near my house has 2 pegs FULL of the scoop/skywarp/minicon wave in the spot where the TF4 deluxes should be. and, they aren't selling. i'm sure we'll see the rattrap wave sometime in the future, i doubt they're just going to look by it.. i believe they've even said as much. but you have to understand that this is a movie year.. and hasbro needs it to do well. they sure as hell aren't going to attract attention to the movie with whirl, rhinox, scoop, and the minicon team on the shelf.
