Over the past few years we’ve known one fact about Hasbro for sure; If they trademark a name, they have plans for it.
This newsie was curious to know what Hasbro has applied for recently and stumbled upon the following names registered just last week.
You can click on the links above to visit United States Patent And Trademark Office and take a look at the application documents.
We currently have no idea what we’ll see in the future regarding the new trademarks. But the fact that the names not registered under a Cartoon might mean it’s toy only. So perhaps, Generations Toy Line?

I wonder what they would be like? Sunstreaker and Rook have my interest.
Nightbeat always had my interest.
I am curious about Overload and Strongarm..
artiepants
True, but Overload has the advantage of essentially being a tiny Optimus Prime without a faceplate (he even has the crest), which makes either the Pax (prime without a faceplate) or Legends IDW Prime (tiny Prime) molds make sense to me.
OR, like Nevermore says, it may mean nothing.
Matt_M
Well, Micromasters are pretty obscure too, unless they have terrible names (Hello, Erector!)
G1Prowl
You mean people applying logic and timing to this "reveal"? Preposterous…
Seriously, we have FOUR lines that will be out at this time, Movieverse, Generations (in theory), Rescue Bots, Construct-Bots, and I guess you could count the Kreo stuff but I'm pretty sure that will be dead soon. It's absolute folly to assume that Hasbro is redoing someone as third tier to them as Sunstreaker when they've already got him in Generations/Classics. If he were Bumblebee I'd subscribe to that theory, but that'd be like saying they are redoing Darkmount if you see them reapplying for the name.
Afterburner
While that is possible, it is pretty unlikely we would find out about an MP Sunstreaker from Hasbro first. They won't even release Sideswipe yet as far as we can tell.
Jbarb78
Since it's speculation at this point, who says it has to be Generations? Am I the only one hoping that Sunstreaker will be joining his brother in the MP line?
Ramdomaccess
If Rook is a repaint of tailgate Could they give him the roller targetmaster repainted as overload if so that is 4 possible overload choices
Roller repaint
Orion Pax repaint
Legends Prime repaint
Retool/repaint of Voyager Roadbuster(for armada Overload)
I be Ok with any of these but I am pulling for Armada Overload
artiepants
yeah, if it gets used, the likely hood of it being either that or a redeco of Legends Prime seems about 90% more likely and logical than a new mold of an obscure Armada character.
Matt_M
I think now I understand why fans get mad at Hasbro. Vague trademarks make them excited for the version of the character they think it is. Then, it's not that character.
So when I say it's going to be G1 Overload as an Orion Pax redeco, I promise not to gloat when it's not Armada Overload.

Please, This!

Very interesting news indeed. I'm sure that these are for the generations line, but I have a feeling that the figures may have a mix of series represented. We got a Classic Sunstreaker not to long ago, so I assume that maybe they will make the Crosshairs mold into him. That way he will still share a close enough alt mode to his brother, Sideswipe in the movieverse. Overload is a hard one to call. I feel that it will either be a Unicron trilogy reference or ROTF. More hopeful for the latter. Just more my cup o' tea. And I really hope that Rook is a G1/G2 reference to go along with Jhiaxus.

i was just wondering about this the other day. I had no idea their was that much crossover. I also thought i had a pretty comprehensive knowledge of GIJoe until i read that list…
That mold is epic. it's friggin' deluxe level engineering in a scout. I'll get it because i liked G1 Tailgate, but the mold the made is way too cartoony to really fit in with the classics aesthetics (i saw it at SDCC last year and it stuck out like a sore thumb with the other legends, like it was from a different line.)
toaprime
I hope that this happens as it would be horrible to have all those awesome cars not made for this toyline.
Ramdomaccess
That is a possible but the including of Nightbeat (which has a planned generations toy) seems point away form that but Rook, Overload, and strongarm are all pretty generic. Rook refers to a couple different characters and overload been put on a few toys that where all suppose to the same guy. And know of only one strongarm..but I am rambling and who really knows but it is fun to speculate
ArmadaSentinel
Here's a crazy idea… What if these are the names of the AoE deceptions? Junkheap was revealed last week as a complete surprise, so what if say Sunstreaker is the orange Mclaren and Rook is the white Aston Martin? Overload and Strongarm could be vehicon's or something…?
They could be the next wave of Power Battlers or whatever it is.
warriorpriest
Has anyone considered these may be for movie toys that will not appear in the movie??
Ramdomaccess
yeah we don't have an energon or cybertron representatives yet.
KanedaX
Here's hoping Strongarm is Energon's entry into the Generations line.
llamatron
Maybe Hasbro could trademark the name "Newsie" so people would stop goddamn using it.
Nevermore
You're referring to what is called a "word mark" or a "stylized/design format". All of these new applications are "standard character marks", though.
