Thanks to GT, we have with us the Bumblebee Character Trailer for Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark.
“Serving as a follow-up to both the upcoming TRANSFORMERS live-action film and Activision’s TRANSFORMERS: WAR FOR CYBERTRON and TRANSFORMERS: FALL OF CYBERTRON titles, TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE DARK SPARK jumps worlds and factions as it weaves the tale of the hunt for an ancient relic as powerful as the Matrix of Leadership – the Dark Spark. Players will be able to switch between the heroes of the noble AUTOBOTS and the nefarious DECEPTICONS throughout the single-player campaign. Similar to High Moon Studios’ CYBERTRON entries in the highly regarded series, gameplay features nimble, fast-paced running-and-gunning combat paired with traversal and vehicle action across open battlefields for large-scale, dynamic conflicts.”The game is now rated “T for Teen”.

Man I really hope either Cliffjumper or Vortex are in this game, I was so happy to play as both of them in FOC hopefully there both in this new game.

Awesome!
I'm personally interested in how the 3DS version will look, but so far I like what I see.

Those games are quite good and I enjoyed them greatly….the single player more-so than the multiplayer. Escalation mode was also very fun in both of them though, and the storytelling quality was right out of an early G1 episode…quirky and cartoonish but also quite good.
There were a few things that really held them back IMO though.
– The character designs are just too damn blocky….like G1 characters on steroids. Slim them down a bit and they'd look so much better…
– The enemy AI was extremely simple – with nothing more complex than taking cover behind the nearest object.
– The weapons sucked. This was a huge missed opportunity, because we could have gotten some really great classic Transformers weaponry. Instead, we got transforming arms with generic machine guns, shotguns, and grenade launchers….and they didn't have any of the classic Transformers sound effects, except for one DLC gun that also happened to be among the weakest in the game.
– Polish/balance. The games were decently polished in single player, but the multiplayer was really lacking. The levels were all very small, reducing transformation to nothing but an escape-mode. The overall multiplayer gameplay experience was very similar to something like Quake 2 from the late 90s. Not bad, but very behind the times and lacking a lot of options. Character customization was also lame – no freedom of color and no unique modes. Also, like most Unreal engine games, the multiplayer code was pretty shitty, with lag, poor/no server migration, etc.
– Sadly, apart from deciding what your character looked like in Multiplayer, the WFC/FOC games actually had less character customization than the old armada game. The different combinations and synergy between them if you used multiple minicons of the same color…..it dramatically altered gameplay. In the Cybertron games, the gameplay is exactly the same regardless of who you play as in singleplayer (except Grimlock).
Revenge of the Fallen holds a special place in my heart in terms of Transformers multiplayer…it was fantastic and functioned extremely well…..(the singleplayer was junk though)

Yeah I'm inclined to agree with all you said. But I know how fans love the FOC/WFC games.

I beat that game on every difficulty level, with every minicon. I LOVED that game, and I wish they would release a remastered version of it, running at 60fps in a much higher resolution. I never had any issue with the Tidalwave boss, you just had to hide behind the rocks, do a full volley of your secondary weapon against his weak spots, and then transform and zoom to one of the other islands so that by the time he walked over to you, your weapon was charged up and you could do it again. The sniper rifle worked very well for this.
It was a hard game by the standards of today, where games are designed to hold your hand. But it wasn't unfair…you just had to learn how to play it, and put a lot of thought and experimentation into the minicon combination you played with.
The enemy AI in that game was excellent….enemies had a hierarchy, with some acting as commanders, and when one of those was present, the lower-level enemies would organize and fight as a group, with him in the back giving out orders.
Personally I think that it remains the single best Transformers game ever made….I enjoyed it more than the FOC/WFC games, despite the lack of multiplayer….and I don't even like Armada.
Ring3r
This looks horrible. Recycled assets, mashing two completely different versions of Transformers together, the graphics clearly suck and have not advanced beyond FOC…and to top it all off, it runs like shit too. Even in the trailer they can't disguise the fact that this game has serious framerate problems.

Look at my profile, been posting here for years with news credits. Just a big transformers fan

Soooo… No Plot…

Besides Escalation with 40+ characters and build-able defences?

TF fans are the ultimate children… somehow, this game is shit based on 47 seconds of two character models, if you judge based on the thread. I think people should STFU and play the game before whining and complaining. It looks like the previous games if u ask me. No better no worse. It's an obvious cash in… and maybe a really fun one. To me FOC was the end…. because it could lead right into G1, or any other earth based TF series.
I hear people who would spend a 100 on a 3rd party figure (which you will spend probably about 3 -4 hours a year transforming and posing) complaining about a game that allows you to have WAY more to do ( with and against other TF fans!).
I'm personally only hoping some will have unique styles (Drift screams for sword play) but I doubt anything serious based on what it is.

Okay can anyone here take a comment like this seriously? Go back to your handler at Activision and tell them you've been made.
Lucky nothing, the creators of Angry Birds but more effort in their games then this…
JasonPrime
Well it's been a long time but yeah I did finish the game. I thought it was really good at the time. I remember the Tidal Wave fight being frustrating and also the Megatron fight. Took me a while to beat him I think. But yeah I remember at the time being amazed we got a Transformers game that turned out to be as good as it was.
ZapRowsdower
Did you complete it? Cause I had the toughest time playing it…
I couldn't get past the Tidal Wave mega-boss… which was sad, cause I really wanted to like the game. It was made by Atari… they made some sh*tty games, back in the day!
So I'm curious about how far you got, and whether or not you found the experience as frustrating as I did!
ZapRowsdower
Great point! Your post also reminds me that crossovers tend to contribute very little, period! Usually, the writers don't wanna piss anyone off, so every fight ends in a stalemate, or everyone must agree to work together to solve an even greater crisis! Oh sh*t. I should have wrapped that in SPOILER ALERTS!
Seriously, though, I hope this isn't a "crossover" in the sense that you imply. It couldn't be any more irrelevant if it was!
Please clarify: are you saying that TF fans shouldn't complain because we get this or nothing?
Are you saying that complaining is worthless, and you do your best to avoid it as much as you can?
Are you saying that we should be more positive, and work with the game, no matter how good or bad? We should buy it just to support TF games?
I don't get what you were trying to say!
JasonPrime
nah the Armada game was actually pretty good.
RazorclawX
It's amazing that fans can be picky about their Transformers games when seven years ago the idea of a Transformers game would be ludicrous.
CodeXCDM
It has to take place after FoC in order to include the Dinobots. Funny… to think if it weren't for High Moon (which was dissolved after Deadpool didn't prove a success like FoC)… Dinobots would be just plain extinct. Hasbro wasn't interested in weaving them into aligned, and the Bayverse wouldn't have them.
Crossovers don't tend to contribute to direct continuity for either universes/brands involved.
Jazz 4
Im sorry but am i the only one who cannot picture cybertron Bb becoming bayverse bb…..like seriouslywhy not continue the cybertron games.
Bayverse is bayverse you cant cross it with anyother series without killing it.
Highmoon needs to get going on the third game soon if they make one and not link it to any series but its own.
JasonPrime
What exactly is the storyline of this game? Is it a crossover of two different Transformer Universes?
