Just read the Syndromica + Dark Cybertron Prelude issues and you're good if you don't feel like reading all of it.

Wiki-ing it would probably suffice. If you're just concerned with knowing what's going on in Dark Cybertron, you could pick up issues 6, 10 and 17-22, since they're the ones that actively lead into it.

I'm more excited that I just realised why I don't care than I am about this crossover in general. It's like a huge change out of no where (I know we were warned but storywise in MTMTE the only indication it was happening was in the prose at the back) and like the name is different, there's new characters from the other series, and the art is different too, and it's this big grand affair and it's all just a lot for what it is. It's just so different and there's no reason why.
Does anyone think it'd be worthwhile to read RID before this starts or just wiki it or?
some people aren't big on toys josh jeez

I didn't expect to be excited about Dark Cybertron, but I actually kind of am. I like that it looks like we're going to finally get proper closure on the Dead Universe/Gorlam Prime/etc. storylines that have been around since IDW started.

because toys guys geez
xD
SPLIT LIP
I feel the same way.
Nothing makes me want to read this. It seems vague, uninteresting, and I have no idea what the point is. Nothing tells me this has anything to do with MTMTE's actual plot, so I don't know why it's crossing over besides "it just is."

I have so much apathy for Dark Cybertron I just… Don't care…
I'll buy it and I'll read it still just so I still know what's going on when we get back on schedule I just… I'm not as excited as usual…
Sorry for the negativity I just… yeah ._.

Really not a fan of how Jhiaxus' face is being drawn here. It just looks bizarre.
Also, the soft Spotlight: Galvatron retcon is a bit strange, but whatever.
General Tekno
Jhiaxus does still have that body in the modern era. This is his retro-style Marvel US-esque body design.
As for Nova, we haven't seen his altmode in the comic, but the concept art for him is in the back of Spotlight Optimus Prime – if memory serves I think he was an unused concept Don did for Hasbro.
FantomLibrarian
I wish artists would give Jhiaxus the same hunched over movieverse-Starscream body he had when EJ Su did Revelation…I liked that concept and his design had a mouth similar to Cyclonus from MTMTE (skeletal and overtly mechanistic). I always wondered what he transformed into…
Also, we've never seen Nova's alternate mode either – it's like every member of the Ark-1 never transformed.
Lumpy
Is this confirmed to be on the 6th? Comixology has it listed for the 13th still.
Kraken
He's always been weak at the knees in Nova's presence though.
Murasame
this
Dark Magnus
Right, because he's supposed to be Cybertron's greatest scientific mind. This is the guy who was beaming at Shockwave when he created a monster out of six normal cybertronians. He's not some low IQ henchman.
WilyMech
Which I thought is odd. ^
Murasame
Jhiaxus looks like the typical bumbling Henchman.
WilyMech
Hmmm it might be point in time where Jhaixius went insane. Or to highlight the flashback to show what led to the events of Dark Cybertron
MyTea Boc
Interesting. Nice to see more elaboration on the dead universe crew.
Does seem to be a bit of a flub about Galvatron 'recklessly plunging them into the portal', but it wasn't a massive plot point really.
Jalaguy
Well, Nova was an egomaniac, techno-supremacist facist, Nominus saw in a system of social apartheid, Sentinel was a militaristic thug and Zeta was a deranged zealot, so pretty much, yeah.
And of those, only Nova bore the real Matrix. Nominus, Sentinel and Zeta were all essentially false Primes.
N_M_S
Nova really is an ass, isn't he?
In IDW, all the Primes were corrupt, until Optimus, correct?
I need to go back and re-read a lot of those books, so many little details are being built-upon lately.
