Site sponsor Robot Kingdom has updated their Facebook with images from the dealer room floor at this years Botcon 2013. In these pictures we get to see the displays showcasing Linkin Park Soundwave and his Minions, Masterpiece Acid Storm and our first look at the Platinum Edition Fall of Cybertron Grimlock vs. Bruticus set.
Check out the images after the break.

We're getting Grimlock vs Bruticus here, in Australia as a TRU exclusive for I think $160-170. It's pretty good IMO, seeing as we missed bland Grimlock here and Fruticus is a bit expensive for $150 altogether here. ($30 a pop for deluxes here)
Star Saber
So Acid Storm is MP-01? Wow what a disappointing figure to start the new MP line off with. It'd would have been nice if they retroactively put Prime in with a new release, since so many people weren't able to get him.

I need some other people's opinions, I can't decide on whether to buy the Takara Bruticus for $130 at BBTS or wait for this gift set.
Is there any news on how much the gift set costs?

i should restate that.. unless hasbro actually plans to release a limited amount of the linkin park toy, it is nothing more than a cool custom… which truly annoys me.. release it already kthxbye

Hmm… not sure how I feel about Soundwave. He seemed more metallic and less… just orange-yellow in the last (photoshopped) pictures. I'd almost rather he had the deco of the box – although that'd be similar to Soundblaster.
Minor nitpicks aside, I'm actually pretty into them. Hope they get some neat bios. Maybe the cassettes could even be new characters rather than just "gold Ravage".
I'll still have to get it as I'm an addict for G1 Cassettes, lol.

get rid of the linkin park edition… great display but thats all its worth

I don't really like to refer to many Transformer related incidents as a "slap in the face", because I find it a little hyperbolic… we're just talking about toys here, after all. Semantics aside though, I think that situation is a bit different, since the original versions weren't directly from Hasbro, so they made no promises as to their exclusivity.
I don't think anyone should be happy about something like that happening, of course, but in that specific case I think I'd feel more like kicking myself, than kicking Hasbro.
In my mind, Botcon somewhat relies on the idea that Hasbro is highly unlikely to release most of the decos and sculpt alterations they produce, in order to secure their exclusivity.
Dr. Killinger
I think the reason for it being MP-01 is due to the lines reboot here in the states, so since MP Soundwave will follow, it will be MP-02.
Crossfire-034
You know, I used to hate the two tones of green they used for the camo and fuselage… but it's growing on me, like some sort of horrid bacterial infection. Plus he's a friggin' F-15, and I'm a sucker for good plane-formers.

Quite happy that Acid Storm is the neon green and not the muted forest green.
Will actually purchase now.

Would you say that Hasbro releasing their own Thundercracker/Dirge/Thrust from the Classics mould was a slap in the face to those who paid huge amounts for the BotCon '07 versions, then? (albeit the BC versions were a Hasbro licensee rather than Hasbro themselves, but it's still the same market)
Autovolt 127
Oh shit Linkin Park Soundwave, that's still coming out? I thought it would have gotten cancelled.

You're missing the point entirely on your reasons for buying, really. I don't think very many people (if any) bought the SDCC Bruticus because they wanted it right that second, because at the time, the TakaraTomy versions hadn't even been officially announced, or described and the retail versions were due out shortly after the convention.
Anyone who purchased the set as a long-term investment opportunity wasn't making a smart decision. That's never a good reason to buy something like this.
In my opinion, the main motivating factor to buy the set was the game accurate coloring. And then Takara did, in fact, do it better, but at least that's a different market, so it wasn't necessarily a slap in the face. Something like this set, that's highly likely to make it to American shelves though, is a bit irritating, because it takes what was a cool exclusive and makes the contents somewhat trivial. I find that disappointing.
If people had known that something like this would be done later down the road, I don't know that the SDCC set would have been quite the sellout product it was.
Personally, things like that make me feel like I need to be rather cautious about future exclusive purchases from Hasbro.

Well Acid Storm is MP01. There's a good pic up on the botcon facebook page.

It alost looks like Soundwave is due out next month. That's sooner that I expected.

This is transformers we are talking about here. There are reissues and redecos of everything can't we be happy for people that can get the sdcc bruticus and grimlock for a reasonable price?
Ejack37
Nope…I feel the same way. He just looks cool, which is why he never left the box.
Thundercracker
Masterpieces usual = automatic buy for me but I just have no interest in Acid Storm. Too fugly looking for my tastes.
Jazz342
I realize that having bruticus in game colors in this pack but im still suprised they didnt go with G1. I dont have to be disappointed with my G2 set now.
trebleshot
I definitely want Acid Storm, but I don't think I'll have any trouble hunting him down, if Thundercracker was any indication. Of course, if he ends up like MP-10, AC's going to be a bitch to pick up.
I'd love to get Grimlock vs. Bruticus, but it's something I can hold off on since I already own the retail versions of both, plus I on picking up Ruination too. Depending on the price, I'll either pull the trigger or shrug my shoulders and move on.
And I kinda want LP SW simply because it's Soundwave, but those colors look horrible to me, like a Dollar Store knock-off of a Lucky Draw. I do like the packaging, though. The SW fanboy in me is screaming "It's Soundwave! Must own now!", while the rest of me is saying "Ugh, do I have to?"
Now that would be awesome. I'd totally get an Eliminator TF.

Keep in mind that $100 is barely over what it would cost to collect Fruiticus.
It's no one's fault that there was a feeding frenzy over SDCC. I mean yes Fruiticus was pretty ugly and inaccurate but we at least knew Takara was going to take a crack at it.
