The next new Transformers toy to get featured in our galleries is the hot new Decepticon addition to the Generations line, Blitzwing! Blitzwing has been in demand ever since the first assortment of Transformers Classics toys gave us an Astrotrain in 2006, a demand that only increased with the addition of Octane to the Universe line in 2008. It’s been a long time coming, but Blitzwing has finally arrived in the Classics series.
Blitzwing is a Voyager class toy, and he feels nice and substantial. He has plenty of articulation and nice big feet which take his weight really well. The shoulders are a bit awkward out of the box – they pop out very easily – though there are ways to modify them for a better fit; check out one such modification in our Radicons Customs section here. Blitzwing features both his alternate modes, jet and tank, and they do a good job of being distinct from each other thanks to some rather clever tricks. In a homage to the Transformers Animated Blitzwing, Generations Blitzwing sports the three different faces of that character, an excellent and fun touch.
Overall Blitzwing is a great toy. The shoulders are the weakest point about him, along with some of the more rubbery parts, but I would invite you to look past that and see just how much of a masterwork this new, definitive version of Blitzwing really is.

I found a really simple and affordable shoulder fix over at shapeways for anyone who is unwilling to dismantle and possible damage their Blitzwing, and for any one who does not want to pay a lot for a Third Party product.

Yikes. The face gimmick on mine is, to say the least, deficient. Good design, sloppily executed.
EDIT:
Been playing with him more. Fail. Fail fail fail fail fail.
Nothing's holding together right. The faces are FAR too tight and EVERYTHING else is too loose.
The missile won't fire past the end of the cannon barrel, as a final fail punchline.
Oh, wait. His sword and gun are good.
Call me names, or whatever, this is crap.

Yah man, most accurate ever since the Book Reissue, more over is Voyager class, make it more attractive.

Not a big fan of the three faces but meh…whatever
In jet mode he looks very much like Classics Jetfire from 2006

Even given his wonky shoulders due to tolerance issues and his rubber nosecone, this toy is the tits and I love him. I'm having a blast transforming him back and forth between tank and jet while on my desk at work. Frankly Springer is the stronger of the two from this wave, but Blitzy is no slouch. Just hoping Hasbro redoes Astrotrain at this scale eventually, because its been forever since his Classics version dropped and I need him at Voyager scale.
You are definitely not alone. A few fellow TF collectors have recommended the Future Polish treatment for his ball joints, but I've not used it before and really don't like altering my figures until absolutely necessary. Thankfully the hip wobble on mine isn't so egregious that he can't stand, so for now I'll just live with it.

Looks amazing. So happy that Hasbro was able to produce something worth hunting this year.

Maybe I'm lucky my leg joints are fine and tight. Regarding the face gimmick, I'd suggest to everyone to disassemble the head and shave off the yellow paint on the bar where all 3 rubbery faces are connected. Just shave off the paint and all will be fine with the head rotation gimmick.

I'm thinking of making a nosecone replacement via shapeways.

I love all of the modes, the jet reminds me of an Alpha from Robotech. I didn't care too much for the animated series so I'll just use the original head when I get this fig.

except for the stupid animated faces I love everything else about this figure.. Cant wait to get one, but those two faces wil never see the light of day in my collection lol

Mine are kinda loose, but I've heard of others with the same issue as yours. A friend of mine found a second that had tight hip joints, so it's kinda hit and miss.
My issue is that the stupid soft-rubber nosecone won't stay in place because it's too damn soft, and the springload for the head keeps pushing at it and won't let the cockpit clip hold it in place. It's so bad I'm hoping a third party group comes out with not only a new head, but a solid nosecone replacement (highly wishful thinking). The jet mode would be great if not for this glaring problem on mine.
The rest of him is okay. Except that Hasbro is beginning to rely a little too heavily on tension/pressure pegs that don't always seem to work. I hear people saying his tank mode is the weakest of the three, but to me it's the best one simply because it's the only mode that's solid when assembled (at least on mine). Robot mode looks great, but the springload on mine pushes the head forward off the track a bit, so he's always looking down.
And yes, the free-swinging folded shoulder panels bug me. But I'm gonna do the magnet thing to solve that problem.

Anyone have a Blitzwing who's got super loose leg joints? My left leg swings freely like Prime RID UM's arms. Kind of annoying if you're trying to pose him.

I cannot wait till tomorrow when I will get my hand on him.

Hate the triple faces. Good thing it's optional. Makes the animated figure look like crap too. Can't wait to get this figure.

i like this thing. the jet mode reminds me of an alpha fighter from robotech (or a legioss from mospeada if you will). tank mode is a but….off (the G1 is far better at that actually), but the robot mode is pretty sweet. don't care fro the face switch gimmick myself (i'll use the G1 only when i get it), BUT i do love the fact that they put it in there for the animated fans ( i never got into animated). fan service is always appreciated!

I get the odd feeling I may have to just pre-order to get a Blitzwing that is classic, update, and the split personality all in one toy.

Niiiiiice! I am glad I came across this because I have an Animated Blitzwing on my watch list that ends today that I was just about to buy. This one is wicked cool.

No problem! I already have bought a complete G1 blaster and steeljaw with the gold weapons off of this guy. and also I just got a complete G1 metroplex for 50$ here im looking to get G1 Thundercracker off of him next.
Sol Fury
It's my original from childhood, I've had it since I was six or something. He's been well loved in the intervening years I assure you
Thanks for the tip on a new one, it's just a bit far for me to go though!
