Question: Can you talk about the profitability in China? Hurdles and Obstacles?
Answer: “For us it’s still early days in China. What’s great about our Chinese business is that Transformers was such a well known brand back in the 80s; which was very successful there. We just take a longer view of China; we want to build the point of distribution, we want to build our brands and continue to invest.”
People are interested in asking about US/Canada Market vs. Overseas Emerging Markets. Answer was similar to what was said during the last Financial Conference Call.
A question was asked regarding Star Wars and Marvel licensing. Mr. Goldner said Hasbro Toy Rights for Star Wars go till 2020 and Marvel till 2018 presently.
Question was asked about next movies and Television shows.
Answer: “What we are really seeing in Boys Action [Category]is that we are seeing a stair-step in building a brand over time. 1st movie get you to a certain spot and if you have television [shows] in the following year, the brand doesn’t trench back to the level that was prior to the movie and then you can stair-step upwards over time. Between Hasbro’s brands like Transformers, G. I. Joe or Marvel, Lucas brands, we can imagine that happens well.”
