It’s time for a new Transformers toy gallery for you. In keeping with the impending return of Transformers Prime to our televisions with the premiere of Beast Hunters later this month, we have a look at another one of the Predacons for you. She’s a lean, draconic Autobot hunting machine and her name is Ripclaw!
Beast Hunters Ripclaw is one of those “love or hate” toys, I feel. Her design is excellent, with nice detail on the wings and a brilliant shape to both modes that gives her a unique silhouette. Her weapon is a “syphon claw”, in the style of a Spark Extractor from Beast Machines, and it is kind of cool, as the claws lock open and only snap shut when a button in the middle of the claw is pressed. The bad, though, is that Ripclaw is a bit lacking in the articulation department. She’s got nice movement in the legs, but no bicep swivels, and her head is mostly limited to looking up and down, thanks to her collar in robot mode.
Ripclaw’s other main feature is her tail, which features a rubberized core. It can be locked into a C-shape or left unlocked to give it a little free movement. It is possible with this feature to put Ripclaw in some cool poses mimicking Ser-Ket from the Rage of the Dinobots miniseries, who shares Ripclaw’s design. However, weight can become an issue with the tail in robot mode, making Ripclaw’s legs occasionally give way.
All in all though, Ripclaw is a fun toy with a very nice design. She’s not for everyone, but what she does, she does well.

Sol Fury
I personally feel of the four Beast Hunters I own so far that Lazerback is the most fun to fiddle about with, Ripclaw is the nicest looking, and Predaking has the most interesting transformation. Smokescreen is an all-rounder, with good design, fun and engineering but nothing quite on the same level as those three. Though he's close in some respects.

Speaking of which, where's my Galaxy Force Chromia underboob chestplate?
lerath666
Wondering how long it will be before someone uses shapeways to make her an underboob chestplate, and a different head.
harrismonkey
The whole line could peg warm. But if anything sells this seems to be one of the most popular so far.
Karis Mahid
I like this because its gonna be a peg warmer and that means when I have the money I can buy it and give it a more feminine head probably a reprinted retooled Scarlett head
Dwellington
The only bear/bird hybrid beastie I've ever heard of is the owlbear, and since Hasbro owns WotC, all I'm thinking of now are missed opportunities.

^ Ah. Still would expect Wikipedia or Theoi.com or something to have a page about this ursagryph…
Also doesn't change the fact that this particular 4-legged, winged beast with a segmented robot exoskeleton isn't terribly different from the other 4-legged, winged beasts with a segmented robot exoskeleton.

It's in the third note.

Odd, TFWiki doesn't seem to actually say that. And googling "Ursagryph" brings up just 2 pages, and nothing directly about a mythical falcon-bear.
Fallout
blue guy's skystalker, and i have to agree that for how much i love his beast mode, his transformation is literally standing him up and just opening hia dragon mouth.
orangeitis
More believable than a white & black Mirage is. Or a Nitro Convoy with a pink face.

Really now?
DecepticusPrime
i really love this mold and is thus far my favorite predacon from the line
SPLIT LIP
You're both wrong and also have bad hair. Grimwing is just like 90% of the other beasts: four-legged thing with wings on it's back and some kind of snouted/beaked face.
DeltaMagnus84
My wallet couldn't be happier. I have no need for this one in my display. yet?
Shatterpoint
Wrong, he's an Ursagryph.
Paradigm-Shift Prime
Nicest of the beast molds so far. Colors far better than the poor others
knight_wolf
i just can't stop seeing bw inferno when i loo at her head
dinobot1
Grimwing is more of a gryphon than a dragon.
Mechafire
That is true, and I do agree that most of them having the "stand up-ish" transformation (and all of them being dragons) is pretty boring.
