Images of a Beast Hunters Voyager Ultra Magnus testshot have recently turned up on Weibo. We have mirrored those images here. Interestingly enough, this take on Magnus incorporates a mix of parts from Powerizer Optimus Prime with the jetpack from Beast Hunters Voyager Optimus Prime. The result? A bulky Magnus with an imposing silhouette!

Looks like I was wrong about a lot of things, but I think I'll be buying this for just the hammer. The figure doesn't look all that great in my opinion.

Was OP's brother in Dreamwave too, or am remembering wrong?
Autovolt 127
Actually the RID version is Optimus's brother.

That's all it takes for some to claim that Smokescreen = Knock Out.

I never really considered Ultra Magnus just a white Optimus either.
And, as a kid, it was confusing to me that Magnus always seemed to only have the combined trailer and tractor as his robot mode in the cartoons and the comics.
The first time I ever saw him as a "White Optimus" was in Dreamwave's G1 ongoing. He appeared to have been killed, but then he stripped off his outer armor and revealed the "White Optimus Prime" underneath and continued after Shockwave. Although the artwork was pretty bad (the outer armor appeared to be constructed from potato chips or something) I thought the concept was cool. After all this time, the white Optimus component of Ultra Magnus was given some recognition!
However, I no longer thought it was cool after Hasbro and Takara decided to redo Optimus Prime in white, with no trailer armor, and call him "Ultra Magnus" again, and again, and again.

Oh, I got it. That's the one where the Constructicons built Megatron millions of years in the past so that Megatron could build the Constructicons in 1984, right? The G1 where the Autobots could fly but the Autobots couldn't fly?

How often has UM actually been portrayed as a "twin" of Optimus? The G1 cartoon never acknowledged that fact, treating the armored-up version as his normal self, while RiD and Animated went with completely unique designs. For someone like me who's not familiar with the comics or toys, UM's identity as a "white OP" simply isn't a defining trait.
The one where Shockwave is totally loyal to Megatron and wants to overthrow him, where Transformers were created by the Quintessons and Primus (and just naturally evolved), where Unicron is a god and a space monkey's invention, where Cyclonus was formerly Bombshell and Thundercracker, where Rumble is red and blue.
… I don't really specify beyond "G1".

I can't believe people have a problem with Ultra Magnus' being comprised of Optimus Prime parts. Ultra Magnus began as a white Optimus Prime with a trailer armor, then spent years as just the white repaint with no remolding at all of whatever Optimus toy was available, so I don't mind Hasbro heavily retooling Optimus to make Magnus one bit.
In fact, I really appreciate the way Hasbro has considered the small engineering changes they can make to a design to create other characters for the past few years. FoC Jazz and Sideswipe are the most recent examples I can think of.
Back to the topic of the Cybertron games being part of Prime continuity:
Yeah, I get that feeling, too.
I never meant to suggest that I think it's a perfect fit -but it is a pretty good fit. And it is the official word on the matter.
It has a few issues -like the Transformers' understanding of Dark Energon at the beginning of Prime. But every Transformers fiction has had some type of continuity issue.
While I would be a fool to ignore that FoC Soundwave takes more visual and personality cues from G1 Soundwave, FoC Soundwave also "doesn't fit" in any G1 continuity anywhere. The events of WfC, FoC didn't happen in Marvel's G1. They absolutely didn't happen in the G1 cartoon -and Cybertronian Soundwave wasn't an armored truck in that, he was a street light.
WfC and FoC don't fit in Dreamwave or IDW's continuities either.
So, while I appreciate that people see the G1 inspired cues on the characters in Fall of Cybertron, I think it takes more of a stretch to get it to fit in G1.
If FoC is a G1 prequel and not a Prime prequel, then which version of G1 is it?
Yeah, there are some continuity gaffes, but the continuity links are even greater. I would like -no love for some explanation as to why Soundwave chooses not to speak.
And I get the sense that it's a choice.
The writers and directors in Prime have really done a cool job of making Soundwave a sinister mute. He may not speak, but he has no problem communicating.
Mute Bumblebee, however, is awful.
With Soundwave's silence he just seems more intelligent and devious than the other characters. Bumblebee's incomprehensible booping and buzzing makes him seem mentally challenged.
Not only Out of the Past, but FoC completely explains the episode Flying Mind as well.

and his arms are pretty similar to Megatron's.
CelticMutt
I don't. And even if they did look similar there, that's one single piece, when none of the rest of either character's model look the same.

I see Breakdown in the waist….
Prime Jetscream
Shockwave is not a reuse of any other character in any form.
Autovolt 127
So the weaponizer could just be a voyager UM with the trailer?
sh002
pass. after everything else that's coming out i think i'm done with prime toys.
Yggdrasil
Considering how this UM is basicaly a recolor of Prime with two new parts and a slightly different head I can see them puting him in the show as the cost for creating a model for him wouldn't be that big. Hell Shockwave is a mix between Megatron and Breakdown with a new head and a cannon, Ultra Magnus would be even easier to make.
Plus the vehicle mode could just be this:
Except the truck would be blue.

I've been saying it since the PRID UM toy and my hopes for it are even higher now. I hope this leads to UM in Prime fiction. More than just toy bios. This comic is nice, but I'd like these extra characters to be featured in some way.
CelticMutt
The more logical explanation is that the BH toy redesigns will never appear in the show, outside of maybe Optimus. Frankly I don't even think any of the Predacons will be in the show except Predaking.
Sideways77
Huh.
I know what I'm not buying!
jammer506
I mean, you said it for me. "heavy remolding" most of this thing is just PRID Optimus. Besides, I think its rediculous to think that some toys don't make it this far without getting axed, especially remolds.
And yeah we got a rumored BH voyager Ultra Magnus listing, but it may not be this one. "Lets give Optimus a brand new body while giving this new guy his hand-me-down old one."
Besides, I think this is an interesting concept, but I'm unsure that it'll ever see the light of day.
