By way of the Twitter account of Bluesmobile325 we have our first look at the prototype for the Transformers GT Optimus Prime. GT Prime is a heavy remold of the Alternity Convoy design with pretty much the entire car bodywork redone to resemble the Nissan Super GT. He’s also got a new head, and an extra blaster weapon. Check out our mirror of the image by clicking on the thumbnail at left.
For those interested, the website for Transformers GT is also live now.

Yah man, they are just mass release & yet they are so expensive
Tober
Transformers Super GT (SGT01) GT-R Prime and Transformers Super GT (SGT02) GT-R Saber are up for pre-order at Amiami for 7,850 JPY (21% off) each, for release in March 2013.
So they may not be store exclusives after all, but they are just as expensive.
EDIT – And Prime has just sold out.

What makes you think that the body will be made completely of plastic?
Stepper
I think the reason why it is so expensive because it has the diecast content.

Just checked my Alternity Convoy…the balance issues weren't as bad as I remembered, but it's def there due to the weight of the metal. It does add a "heft" if you will to the toy-feels like you're handling a much bigger TF. But if they're re-using the mold, it'd be cool to see some improvements.
This thing is a cool little bugger though. Really pushed the design/engineering envelope.
The leg ratchets on this thing are incredible.

I would have been much more excited about diecast if they'd used it on the outside.
I'm not anti die cast at all. It just happens that in this particular case I don't think it worked out so well.
Blitz.
really I kinda liked it… guess different strokes for different fokes

Agreed 100%! Diecast isn't as awesome as people think/remember
nobudius
Couldn't agree w you more.
Made the original a bit top heavy-hope they modify the design to resolve the balance issues. If the metal needs to be ditched, so be it.
harrismonkey
I'm hoping they ditch the inner metal frame. It caused really serious balance issues in the original. If I look at him wrong he'll fall over.

Looks like the body will be made completely of plastic. Hopefully, it will retain the metal inner frame. At that price there should still be a lot of metal in there.

AWwwwww Jazz…

I just noticed Optimus is holding a gun in his right hand. I wonder if Star Saber might get his sword.

Gimme mah Alternity Wheeljack (the white/red/green "Fort Max" redeco) already. XD

Great, guess for the MP Sideswipe, they are cutting cost, that is why no rubber tires for Sideswipe, haha

I hope it looks better with paint on it. The remold looks clunkier than I'd expected. But still interesting enough I may pick one or two of these up if I like the paint (and I expect to from what we've seen).
I'm still excited. These could be the first repaints besides the seekers I pick up from this line.

That's quite the turtle shell you have there Mr. Prime!
Cracka J
it looks really good. not even gonna lie about it.
I'm just gonna go cry now that these are still 1:32 scale
but I suppose it's a good thing, if they were 1:24th I'd be going broke.
PoweredConvoy
I believe that's the case (at least in Japan).
