Let the hunt begin again! After last week’s story about Masterpiece Optimus Prime being available to preorder from the Toys R Us website, many began to wonder when the toy would hit the brick and mortar stores. Now, thanks to TFW2005 boards member signals3 we have our first sighting of the U.S. Release of Masterpiece Optimus Prime at a Toys R Us in Springfield, Missouri.
Masterpiece Optimus Prime, as well as the recently released Masterpiece Thundercracker, are Toys R Us exclusives.

u should convince them to sell it at cost
Forgotten_Prime
I was unable to get him due to a worker at my local Toy's R Us. He posted them up on ebay. Now I'm stuck having to pay $200 to $300 dollars. For a figure I don't believe that its worth that. For being so short of a run it's nuts. I say do another run.

They should have made more Optimus' and less Thundercrackers.

I still can't believe I found one and only one, in the store on Thanksgiving..

I was able to order mine on TRU website.

Agreed! I was forced to resort to Ebay for mine as well, having never seen any in store.

I had two pre-ordered…they came sometime in late October, I think.
I've still never seen one in stores, though. Still see MP Thundercracker, but never a Prime…not even a shelf tag for it.

My preorder came in fine. Lots of people have them on the board here so its not hard to find

Actually, my understanding is that most preorders DID ship (I got mine back in mid-November), albeit most arriving well after the product was starting to be seen in store.
And keep in mind TRU was likely the ONLY venue willing to take it. Walmart and Target don't have a huge desire to appeal to collectors they way TRU is trying. And considering this was the first year since 2003 we didn't get a supreme figure of any sort…do you really think either would have taken a $100 figure, even when they weren't willing to with a MOVIE?!

Most TRUs only got one box of 2 pieces.
Those were most likely held or purchased immediately, as soon as they were accounted for on the truck.
The order numbers were severely understated, almost as if Hasbro didn't want to create a new shelfwarmer. TRUs will eventually reorder MP-10, but again, in small numbers, as not to keep these on shelves too long.

That is just sad.
I didn't realize that none of the preorders had shipped.
Despite my mishaps with the in-store-pickup option I was able to get one sent to my home using TRU.com. It took them four or five days to ship it, but I got it.
And I've been to six different TRU stores Christmas shopping this month and I never saw on Masterpiece Optimus Prime on the shelves.
I really hope Hasbro sees this thread and threads like it. TRU is really an obstacle to getting Hasbro product. I hope other retailers pickup future Masterpiece releases.

I was able to secure one on ebay through toysrus and received it the next day it was a christmas present for my boy he loves it.

I agree. The pre-orders went up on the 24th of Sep, and a week later, they started appearing in stores. Two weeks after that, (our estimated time of 10/15), and they've apparently not shipped out a single preorder for anyone on these boards (as far as I've read). I'm not using TRU's pre-order system anymore. PERIOD.

Word.

Time to start hunting…would definitely go a lot faster than this bullshit is.
madhatprime
Yea… I PRE ordered. WTF. where are our orders? It would be one thing to complain about a deluxe not getting shipped, but this is ridiculous. This thing cost $100 You would think they would ship them to us at least at the same time as the stores.
