So I was browsing the boards this morning when I saw that 2005 Boards member CodeXCDM had shared this Lego Transformers X Nintendo crossover someone had designed and I felt it was too cool not to share!
Based on the classic Nintendo Gameboy, this fan-designed Lego Transformer transforms into Soundwave! Just like the original Soundwave, he has cassettes – they are the game cartridges! And like the original, the weapons form up out of the batteries. The creation is officially named “Domaster and Tetrawing“, and is the creation of Lego creator Julius von Brunk, who you might know of already for recreating the Super Mario Bros. 3 airship in Lego. Check out more of his work here.
This slice of cool and fun news comes to you via Gizmodo.

My first news credit! Yay! Although I am surprised this was new credit worthy… but hey.. why not!? XD
Worth noting that on his Facebook Page… von Brunk is providing updates for an instruction guide to this build. Here's a preview he uploaded.
Hope he provides instructions on this one too at some point… Thanks Mepayne for pointing it out…
Edited/pasted same stuff onto the first post in thread…

I shall call him 'Endgame'.

Wow, that's jaw dropping. Well done.

On DeviantArt, this is one of today's Daily Deviations. Very cool!

I cant help but felt a bit jealous. My radicon threads hardly gets more than one page-full of feedbacks these days.
Back to the topic: I must say the transforming cartridge is pretty well done. The hardest thing in building LEGO-formers is trying to make something small and compact, yet transforms nicely. I would love to see other variety of minions the builder can perhaps make in the future.

Lego, Nintendo, and Transformers had a threesome and produced this.
SMOG
That's true… but considering the sets are sold on the strength of the advertised build, you'd think they might want to at least make that build a little more impressive.
Seeing some of the amazing stuff that's on Brickshelf over the years, I'm constantly astounded that Lego isn't taking advantage of some of that talent, and releasing sets and designs that reflect the skills, ingenuity and output of some of the top builders.

Kreois not the same thing that they did with the BTR line. They have improved, they don't transform, but they are more realistic. The minifigures are in some ways better than legos, in other ways not. They have better designs, but the structure is not the same. BTR failed, Kreo shows no signs of failing in the near future. But that is just my opinion.

Guy if only Lego made building brickss theyd have a monopooy. Mega Bloks is thre only real compeitor. Plus free market. So swag
Buut this thing is sexy. The laserbeak Tetris is genious
Optimus1138
That's awesome!

The turning point was when they realized licensed LEGO lines were far more profitable than evolving their own brand and put all their resources there, from a design standpoint.

If he owns missing out, he can't be really, can he?

Oh, i totally agree that its a huge oversight, but i also think half the fun of lego and other brick toys is building and rebuilding your creations and coming up with your own builds. Its a fantastic customizers playground. And the robot modes are kinda crap but i keep everything in vehicle mode and just have my kreons run amuck.

Lego lost any pity I might have had for them since they continue to refuse to evolve their product past what it has been for ages, especially when set quality has decreased by leaps and bounds lately. They are taking so many shortcuts in design of their construction sets some of them are becoming straight out flimsy.
There is 0 excuse for Lego Minifigs to still be as backward as they are, even Megabloks is beginning to surpass Lego in quality and design, not only in the Mini-figs but stability and and set aesthetics in general. MB Halo sets have went far past Lego Star Wars sets in my eyes at least.
SMOG
The details on this guy are fantastic, even if the overall aesthetic is pretty boxy/clunky. I love brick Transformers… I always find it sad that only the independent creators every seem to be able to do it "right".
Exactly, so I guess you should get rid of all your Lego, because of their questionable appropriation of another company's brick designs, right?
In this case, Lego's claim to that design has been legally disputed. There is no longer a "pure" Lego morality, if ever there was. If you don't like Kreo, fine… but make sure you're not boycotting them for the wrong reasons. Studded plastic locking bricks now belong to the world.
I don't consider any of those things "transformers". They're peripheral merchandise. Arguably, so are Kreo… but the fact that they don't transform, and don't generally look all that good in either mode is pretty much an indisputable design fail. It's actually pretty unreasonable to expect people NOT to be disappointed with Kreo's non-transforming sets. It's such an obvious oversight.

Front page of TFW? Slow news day.

Hate to break it you you buddy, but Lego does not holds the monopoly on construction sets.
Kaymac
VERY COOL! The graphic on the cartridge is a nice touch too.

This looks awesome, I wish hasbro would make TFs of game systems/portables. (Though due to copyrights that might never happen)
