Toyworld has posted new images of what appears to be an upcoming 3rd party G1 Megatron prototype. Included are Megatron’s melee weapons like his sword. Not much else is known so far, but stay tuned! Check out images of robot mode and gun mode after the jump.

I'm aware of fibromyalgia, as I have it in my family.
True, Transformers are pretty cheap in the USA… living here in Canada, we pay about a third more, and never see clearance sales like they do down south. Still, I've heard it's worse in the UK.
Fair enough if you don't want to getting into modifying or bashing your own toys… it just seems like a non-transforming TF action figure sort of defeats the purpose in most cases.

To be fair, Smog is also not from the States.

I live in the UK, where parts for custom fodder are neither cheap or as easy to come by as places such as the US of A.
I also have fibromyalgia ( do some research if you're not familar with the illness ) which often leaves me in so much pain that anything fiddly such as disassembling parts or painting are not really something I can do even if I wanted to
I could pay someone else to do it but a 3rd party company will probably be cheaper and as Megatron isn't a character that I'm overly concerned about ( Most of my collection are Autobots ) I'm happy to wait until something more suitable comes along.

My ideal gun Megatron would keep the stock and silencer from the show model's gun mode, but utilize them in robot mode to add the mass to the legs and arms that the Masterpeice Megatron was missing.
But since that's probably never gonna happen, I'll just say how great I think this one looks.
Sean Whitmore
Semantics aside, it' still a G1-looking Megatron.
And considering that G1 Megatron's transformation is impossible to replicate in a toy anyway (the size-changing part of it, I mean), I wouldn't balk at losing the transformation to get a great looking robot mode.
Bountyan
…why do people think this is MP Megs?
SMOG
If it doesn't transform, it's not a Transformer. It's just a big, cheatin' action figure.
I mean, dude….You could probably customize your own sweet looking Megatron action figure. Why even bother paying through the nose for 3rd Party stuff? If you dont' have to figure out the engineering for an alt mode it's easy. Go buy a Gundam and start dressing him up!

I hadn't noticed/wasn't bother about any of the things you pointed out. And now that you've mentioned it, it still doesn't bother me.
Compare this to ANY Megatron out there, and this wins IMO.
I'm just curious about the price, articulation and final paint job.
STRAKER454
Well it's not an MP so that doesn't work. Proportionally I think this looks great. Making the scope any smaller would look silly IMO. I think this looks like a damn good CHUG styled figure.
Cheebs
The gun mode is much farther off than that. For one, the robot abs on the side of the gun are inexcusable if this is an MP. For another, the scope is way too small for the gun, and still a bit too big for the 'bot. I really think the only solution is two scopes to interchange… They also messed up the gun barrel. It doesn't "continue" smoothly into his chest area in gun mode. It's like it steps up in thickness after the first metal band.
My perfect V2 MP Megatron would be pretty much the original MP design. Shrink so the gun is life-size in alt mode. Replace the busted head sculpt with something better. Put ratchets or something on his leg flaps to hold 'em in place…or just come up with some way to lock them down. Rebuild his arms so the swivel is above his elbow instead of below (a real WTF on the original). And give him a scope sized for the 'bot along with a scope sized for the gun.
deaculpa
With just a tweak to the legs, it would push this from 90% to 100% in both modes.
CVprowl
my transformers must transform. i draw the line there. i dont transform them much, but i dont have ANY that dont transform.
funkatron101
The best representation of G1 we have ever seen, and there are still complainers. Jeez.
bcm77
Someone who places priority on decent robot modes because 99% of the time that is how my entire collection is displayed.
For me the only Megatron with a decent G1 style robot mode is the Revoltech.
If some company did a figure with a similar level of articulation, a crapload more detail and scaled to iGear's Faith Leader then the lack of a transformation wouldn't mean a thing to me.
SMOG
Wait… did you just suggest that an ideal Megatron would be an action figure that doesn't actually transform at all? Did you seriously just suggest that???
What ARE you???

Inside sources being TCracker. =) Still no official announcement by HasTak though. Maybe we'll see something after MP-11 gets released in March.
If they do make an MP Megs v2 (and if it's bloody brilliant), that may just force me to get both him and MP-10 (whose anime aesthetic and size still bug me) and keep them as standalone alt modes together, while PP01 Faith Leader and this not-Megaton (if it's released) will be displayed with my mixed Classics/MP/3P collection.

Not official, but inside sources say it's gonna happen…so better than JUST a rumor.
mgtron1
I think this is awesome. I mean, look at his head…THAT is G1 Megatron. I have the United version, but even though he has a very G1 look to him, the head sculpt is way off and the "Butterfly" wings really bug me. I was content with him, but this KO is just awesome. Yes, one could nitpick, but I think that this is the definitive Megatron, and I think the best head sculpt he's had.
Oh, has it been officially announced that Takara will be releasing a MP Megatron V2, or is that still just a rumor?
Yop the Yopper
much better…
MagnusPrimal
Agreed on all counts. I'd like to get this to go with my Classics, but if it's MP-sized, I'll pass.
