Thanks to ACToys we have a teaser image and some information regarding what may be a 3rd party battle damaged Unicron head. This will be coming via new 3rd party group, DR. WU, who is also responsible for the upcoming non-transforming pvc Sharkticons. According to the post this Unicron head will come with a transparent base so it can look like it’s floating around. It will also be able to replace the head on the Armada Unicron mold.
Take a look at the teaser image after the jump

I don't know if it's already been said, but it would be great if this head had the "key" adapter so it could plug into Cybertron (Primus), to re-enact a certain episode where Starscream became whole again.

how easy would it be to change the led on the unicron head? think it a bit silly that hasbro gave the amazon one green eyes but a red led
MisterFanwank
Can you post pictures of the head folded back so I can see where a possible connection might be made?

I have a cybertron Primus unicron pack in head. Looking at it. I still think that one was really cool. Even going so far as the Metroplex/Trypticon replacement eye. But It did seem like the teeth were buried a little to far back in the skull.
I like that dr woo seems really 86 movie inspired with their current product line though.
Thumbs up.

The original could also fold back to accommodate the new design. No need to pin removal, and transformation back into planet mode would see you remove the new head and have it in orbit.
It's a cool concept, but with the new remolded Unicron head on the Amazon exclusive and 2010 release, it seems a few years too late.
Omnius
It needs a microscopic construction site and a load of Junkions.

yeah, I'm interested in this. The original 'bonus' head had half the face missing. I was always wanting a cartoon accurate one. Bonus for it to swap out.

Might it be possible to get the whole head out from the underside somehow ? if the neck collar is a separate piece ?
Don't have mine handy to check.
I use a tiny hole punch (sometimes called a Centre Punch) I got in a hardware store to hammer pins out works very well don't have to heat them I did it loads of time on my Faux seekers to make custom arrangements of colours and fix the fists that were on backwards.
I can't find an exact match on google image though as mines got a metal tooled non slip handle and then a long slim very strong shaft like a screw driver shaft but with a round end. you can tap it with a hammer very easily.
Considering I used to have to use a panel pin held in pliers it makes it so much easier.
But I image getting pins out when they are not designed to go all the way through is a nightmare.
If anyone's really interested i'll photograph it.

The possibility of removal isn't in question. But with most third party products, they're supposed to be designed in such a way that if part replacement is necessary, the user doesn't need to be a master customizer in order to make the switch. Part held together by screws? No problem, easy enough to unscrew something with a screwdriver, found in every home. Pins? You need to go to slightly more advanced techniques with a soddering gun, and some people aren't willing to try their hand at experimenting with a soddering gun to get pins out of things, especially if the original head is damaged and they want to preserve as much value in the figure as they can.

And, y'know, it's not impossible to take out pins, especially if you don't care about the original head and are willing to damage it.

I wonder why there are ships flying below Cybertron in the pic?:
I have to guess they're Unicronians, based on silhouettes & number. Upcoming release?
If it wasn't going to be priced like most 3rd Party items, I might've considered getting one when I had money.
I don't have any problems w/ the Armada head. It still looks enough like Unicron to be recognizable.
Perhaps the head splits down the middle, & the face is designed to swap out w/ Armada's? That would by pass the pin issue. & preserve the flashing eyes for those who care.

This is cool, i wonder how we are suppose to replace hte heads though hmmmm…
Protoman
Man I can't wait for the 3rd party "non Hasbro registered" name.
Chaos head! Evil head!
All I know is in the end we are all getting head!

Y'know, a Unicron head that transforms into a deluxed size Unicron could be fun. Kind of like that Megatron head figure released in RiD from Beast Machines.
TrueNomadSkies
Yep, and then you can hang both of them in your bedroom.
Billzilla
I'd definitely buy a Unicron head that was six inches tall or so. It wouldn't even have to be a playset necessarily, maybe a storage for weapons, maybe it could transform into a weapon itself. One of the few situations where I'd really be into lights and sounds, too.

I had the same thougth as you. A Unicron's head playset/backdrop to display 3rd season Classics like iGears Ark would sell like hotcake (which supposedly sell extremely well)

As I started to read this, I thought it was cool, because I thought it would be much, much bigger – more like an accessory to display with CHUG-sized figures – but it's just a replacement for the Armada figure… Meh.
