Transformers Dark of the Moon has officially premiered to the general public in the United States (I just got back myself). Since we are a community with a very active message board, it’s time to sound off!
What did you think about Transformers Dark of the Moon? Better than the 1st? Better than the 2nd? Best movie ever? Or, do you think it was scrap?
Let us know by sounding off in our Transformers Movie Discussion Forum. There are tons of different threads on every aspect of the movie, and if there isn’t one for what you’re thinking, you can start one!
Have fun, keep it civil, and then go back and see DOTM again tomorrow.
Enjoy!

Oh Yes!
Thank You Very Much Dear Sir!

Much preferred ROTF. Felt completely empty after DOTM. Bay's directing was superb, the writing was complete jism. Very disappointed.

This guy. He gets it. Nice review, dude.

Here’s my review of Transformers: Dark of the Moon by Michael Bay. Listening to the Score of the movie as I’m writing this because, have to tell you… this is pretty epic. Like last time I promise you that the review is Spoiler Free.
I’m just back from the third movie and can’t even describe how happy I am. Michael Bay not only delivered the best Transformers Movie out of the three, he also delivered one of the most action-packed movies ever to be produced by the mankind. Best movie of the year 2011 in my opinion. And now, without further ado… the review.
Plot
The story of the movie blew both previous movies out of the water. So much in-depth analysis had gone into producing the movie. If it weren’t for the Comic Book Leak… audience wouldn’t have seen it coming. The thing about DOTM is that unlike ROTF the plot is precise and woven together into one 2 and a half hour long movie. It never felt dull and boring. Second half of the movie is the game changer. Everyone at the theater was on the edge of their seats anticipating and cheering the Autobots. It was like watching a good football game… I mean a real damn good football game.
Characterization
Most of you who read my movie review for ROTF may recall me mentioning that characterization was through the roof. Well, guess what? It has now reached much greater heights with TF3. Believe me… for those who complained “Less Humans, More Robots” got their wish. But that doesn’t mean there are no human interactions. There were plenty of awesome human interactions. But the robots felt so much like what we wanted them to feel like. They had a life of their own. Sometimes I just wonder if Mr. Bay is hiding an actual bunch of robots from a distant planet just for the movie. And speaking of which…
Graphics and Effects
ILM out-did themselves. My god! If I had any words to describe the realism, I’d be writing till the eternity. Mr. Bay did what he does best, delivering a movie with actual effects rather than blue screen or whatnot. The Birdmen scene was done in real life and was not a fake scene as we see in most movies. The difference? Transformers 3 is a winner in every way in this category.
Music
Best Score… EVER! Unfortunately I’m not that impressed with the Soundtrack aside from several tracks. Linkin Park’s Iridescent is the highlight of the movie soundtrack. Proud to have them in all three movies. As for Steve Jablonsky, I have no true words to say what a genius that man is. Honestly, awesome talent. The Soundtrack is great for Rock Music Lovers, but to others it is a good soundtrack only. Unlike ROTF the soundtrack didn’t play a major role in the movie. Score on the other hand is a brilliant piece of art.
That’s pretty much it I guess. Can’t tell more without spoiling those who haven’t watched the movie.
Almost forgot…
Vehicles
If you are a vehicle enthusiast (A “Petrolhead” as the Top Gear people would call it) this is the movie for you. After watching the movie I have a strong urge to go and buy a Ferrari 458 Italia; the best Ferrari ever made by the company of the same name. The vehicles are darn awesome.
There is a lot to say about the movie but many of my thoughts cannot be put into words. I feel so lucky to see this wonderful movie that helped shape the Transformers Franchise to what it is today.
Finally, I thank Mr. Michael Bay and his cast & crew for producing one of the most enjoyable movies ever. Hats –off to everyone who made this movie… A Reality!

Ah finally!

Back from the Sri Lankan Release. That was a Fantastic Movie!
Maximo Prime
I think what might um..soothe you for lack of a better word is to remember that the movie is essentially its own continuity.
For instance, Wheeljack was in Energon. Sorta. The name was lent to a G2-Sideswipe looking guy, and the look was given to a guy who was named Downshift. Who wasn't even a scientist. It's a nod more than anything.
In Animated, Bumblebee was almost Hot Shot, and Ratchet Red Alert, as these two characters featured prominently in the last 3 cartoons.
I know we grew up in a world where if a movie comes out about a franchise, it is the definitive version, so to speak. (to some) But if you think of the Bayverse as just another continuity, you won't mind that Dino is really just somebody else entirely.

hit the nail on the head by there mate.
Overlord Balder
We don't know if they were peacefully there, Demolishor might have slayed half of Shanghai five minutes before that opening as far as we know.
Judge that situation like that is like a person who never heard of WWII seeing a Soldier shooting Hitler's head off: Without the context, you can't judge.
He is Honor Before Reason, he puts principles before survival, that's why he's a hero [he is also altruistic].
What the…
Yeah, because Megatron totally isn't known for backstabbing every single damn person on Earth, and he totally wasn't responsible for the DEATH of his home-planet, and he TOTALLY didn't try to wipe out humanity twice before, and he TOTALLY wasn't saying "Optimus, make a truce and you'll be my bitch".
TOTALLY.
Optimus would love if the 'Cons simply lived in Peace. But nope, they always come up with some gigantic masterplot to destroy humanity.
So protecting a race from genocide is being a paranoid cold war general? Okay then.
RedAlert Rescue
So Demolishor and Sideways were causing huge harm to all before – Optimus Turned up with his team who proceed to conduct an operation that leads to huge numbers of civillian casualties and murders them. Oh that's right they weren't doing anything at all other than sit and wait for The Fallen to comeback.
So it sort of prooves Decepticons are capable of living peacefully. (Prime's actions at the close of the 3rd Movie want you to believe otherwise mind). personally I don't buy Optimus' rational it's not rational to commit genocide against your own race to save a bit of minor inconvenience to the Human race – It was probably right for him to waste The Fallen as he was pushing his luck to far wrecking suns is not playing nice with the other children.
But Optimus I'd put in the same box as that Guy on ST:TNG who killed millions/billions of sentients – every member of an Alien race as one ship of them killed his wife.
Optimus' shows huge overkill – is Megatron Evil – possibly – but even that is arguable – he's offered a truce he's offered Sam he could live as his pet, he's actually done little harm to Earth most of the time he was there except for the times they were fighting Autobots.
Have the Decepticons and the Autobots become so irrredeemable that they deserve extinction – Personally I don't think so – and that to me Make Optimus a Monomanical zelotus extremist one who like Optimus Primal wants to fullfill his own vision at the cost of everything (in the middle of fighting the bad guys too) at least Primal had enough sense to see he was compromised and stepped down as leader – The Movie Autobots are so much Prime's lapdog they look more than happy to dance with him into racial extinction.
Just another reason other than face taking brutality to look at Movie Optimus as a quite disturbing character – he's like some Cold War era General wanting to Nuke Moscow during the 1960's – because he fears they 'might' cause trouble in the future.
It does seem that non of the Decepticons cause any trouble unless Megatron tells them too – perhaps that might change once Megatron says no more hiding. But Megatron seemed like a desperate and Broken man.
Has Optimus even defeated a Decepticon and demanded they yield – not he just Murders them, has he ever argued with them for Humanities fate, nope he just Murders them, as he ever asked them to join the Autobots and fight for what's right rather than for might – nope guess what – you go it, He just Murders them.
So I find it hard to see Movie Optimus as a symbol of Honour – he's not exactly Kal El (Well not one of the sane ones anyway), If Ratchet was not such a rubbish Doctor perhaps he could find a way to make the Decepticons locked in Statis mode in vehicle form and held in storage.
Not to mention how Angry Optimus gets when some Humans mislead him, he comes across as someone you don't want to cross – what with the huge pile of corpses at his feet and all.
shockwave2005
At least The Girl Who Loved Powerglide had better animation…
Hosta
but i wouldn't rule out the idea of seeing Metroplex, Trypticon, Omega Supreme & Unicron just yet! as we've yet to see who's going 2 carry on making live TF movies or a reboot! So far all we know is that Jason Statham might be in it!
Hosta
aye true i s'pose!
Megabattimus
It's easier and cheaper to create a planet that doesn't have moving parts than it is to create a massive city that transforms into a massive robot.
Hosta
actualy cybertron's a Unicron sized robot named Primus! Ok, mayB not Bay's version, but still.
Megabattimus
Yep. Which makes it like every other tv show.
Starscreamer69
, sorry but I had to! G1 cartoon is great and all, but it sure had its fair amount of stinkers.
Megabattimus
And how long did Cybertron appear. What's that? Less than 20 minutes. What was Cybertron? Was it a massive transforming city? No, it was a fucking planet.
Hosta
and your comment about the reason metroplex not appearing in a live tf movie! yeah, right, no more expensive than having cybertron partly appearing through a space bridge close to the earth, as in DOTM.
Megabattimus
Oh god, do not mention that abomination.
