Perhaps this is a bit premature, considering Transformers Dark of the Moon is still a few months away, but we’ve got the first hints that Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner would like the Transformers Movie franchise to continue beyond Transformers Dark of the Moon – and he very much hopes that director Michael Bay might return for a fourth outing, even though Michael Bay has stated on many occasions that he intends to make Dark of the Moon his final Transformers movie. Here is what Brian Goldner had to say on the matter:
I would say to you right now that I’ve so enjoyed working with Michael Bay. (He) has got this incredible visual sense for showing you things you’ve never seen before. Perhaps he’ll change his mind, perhaps he won’t, but I’d rather put out this movie first then cross that bridge at some point. This news comes to you via Movieweb. BTW thats only YOUR opinion. Lots of people may think otherwise, lots of people may agree. But i disagree
BTW it looks like we're getting a fourth over a reboot anyway!
Im just saying, that when it comes to MOVIES, i like the ones that get to the chase FIRST. not just a remake of a movie that is TRASH.
Crystal Convoy
This word does not mean what you think it means. Not a damn thing from the movies is original. It's all been done before.
And btw, the Bay movies are trash.
SamWitwickyGirl
those were cartoons that focuses on different parts of the TF lore. These are movies. MOVIES. Rebooted movies lead to trash. Thats it.
Without a good reason, its just copy cat, and the most stupid thing ever. I like original
and i hate to say it but movies are completely different things than cartoons. and most people would consider them wayy bigger and wayy more substancial for a fan base.
Crystal Convoy
ZOMG I wasn't alive in the 80s. And I'm talking about multiple Transformer cartoons. The stories have been told, it's over… finished. It's time for change.
SamWitwickyGirl
oh myyy jeesh! That was in the 80's. that was g1. the movies rebooted gen1. BECAUSE OF A REASON: its 25 years later, and they want to reboot a CARTOON into a MOVIE.
DJPrime39
michael bay said the same thing about not returning in tf3, but after they brought out that money, michael changes his mind quickly so yeah it will be directed by bay
Crystal Convoy
Once you grow up and have seen the start and end of multiple cartoons, you get used to and understand the need for reboots.

Everything has to refesh eventually in one way or another or people get bored of it and abandon it. Some may hope that just a new story with (mostly) the same characters would be refresh enough but it doesn't work that way once things start to get too samey. There are very few things in the entertainment world that can continue with the same thing time after time and still make good bank. Even the wonders of one billion plus bank BayFormers can't escape it. The general public will become jaded and as certain people love to regularly tell us the Transformers fandom makes barely any real dent in creating the fortunes of the toys or movie takings. The general public is where the proper cash is at and banging out movie after movie without properly shaking things up after a while that public will move onto other fresher things.
Personally I do reckon the Bay version could probably endure for another couple of movies if it does something clever to take the 'been there, seen that' dull edge off of repeating. Switching out the director while still staying within the Bay-created universe and characters and style could be enough to help too. But eventually there will have to be a bigger change made or the movie franchise will likely just lose the support it's gained from the general public.
Would TF4 happen without Bay? There's entirely no reason why it couldn't. Would be it better, worse or the same if it did? Financially or in terms of storytelling quality? Those are definitely the unknowns. But there's very little chance of it always making the huge sums DotM did if very little of anything else changes over the next set of movies. The problem is Bay likes his 'Bay Style' a lot and keeping him would also mean things will stay not very far from what there already has been. Transformers is all about change. Rabid BayFans that will see a BayFormers movie no matter what cannot prop up any TF movie that the general public have become bored with the style of. Would those fans like to see BayFormers go out with a whimper at the very end because it kept pumping out that format regardless or how stale it gets with the people that actually spend the most cash on the cinema tickets? Or would they prefer that they can look back on the Bay movies with pride and say 'Those were always financially successful and went out on a high note'? If I was a BayFormers fan I know which option I'd choose when considering the reality of how the whole movie franchise life thing works.

In the words of Simon Furman: it never ends
eagc7
yep everything have a END
i am a big movie fan liek Samwitwickygirl is, but The movies have to End, and DOTM needs to be the End, they cant continue with the movie contintuy Forever!
mrgalvaprime
Fine put it forward 50 million years, Optimus Died of old age and Roddy is in charge
decepticreep312
I'm other words, make a fanwank movie. And killing off Optimus AGAIN would be just cheap. It's already a running gag that Optimus Prime dies a lot in almost every continuity.
mrgalvaprime
Put it forward 50 years, kill off Optimus Prime and bring in roddy
Tkemert20
It's called a plot, and every plot has an ending, get over it.
eagc7
What?
SamWitwickyGirl
CONTINUING PLEASE. OR YOU GUYS WILL LOOSE LOTS OF MONEY TOO. hahaaha
a lot of people DONT like or even accept reboots. cause its like, what was the point of going through all that hard work to set up a movie verse?!?! and what was the point of caring to watch these autobots if theyre just going to be easily replaced. i guess you guys accept your favorite characters as REPLACEABLE
eagc7
i Hope its a Reboot, the bayformers continuty have already run its course, had one of the main cons survived (Like Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave and/or Shockwave) and/or there was a scene hitting to a fourth movie (like in movie 1 we had Starscream escaping and in ROTF we had Megatron saying "this is not over") i would accpet tf4, but since none of those things happened i dont accept a fourth movie, Also If DOTM was never, EVER promoted as the final battle of the autobots and Con i would had accepted TF4 aswell, but it was promoted as the final battle, so i dont accept it
Rebooot PLEASE
SamWitwickyGirl
Nope. No reboot. (as clues lead us to it, it looks like it WONT be a reboot, which im completely glad) Cause if there was a reboot, what was the point in watching these autobots & allies struggle and go through everything? I dont know about you guys, but reboots just don't fly with me. Not just movies that i am a big fan of, like transformers, ALL MOVIES. It's like, why did you waste your time caring about these characters, if the plot is going to be erased and start over a few more times? Nope. NO NO NO NO! i dont want these movies to end like that. That's stupid. We have g1, beast wars, Prime, and the movies. Different versions. BUT NO REBOOTS. that's stupid in my opinion. We need the same optimus going on, the same bumblebee, and the same autobots. it needs to happen this way, or a certain someone may not be interested and come on these boards as much (me!) lol
but luckily, i dont think thats going to happen.
daitarn red
tf4 be like japanese headmaster series with trainbots , six knight and etc
Chromia217
I wouldn't mind to see TF4 if it's done well, but I'm curious about a reboot or a prequel.
