In 2004, Dreamwave Comics began publication of the third chapter of the War Within saga. Chronicling the secret history of the war for Cybertron, it began with the return of Megatron. Heroes fell and tyrants rose, but the story was cut short before its dramatic conclusion could be told.
Now, thanks to Simon Furman making copies of the script for the unreleased issue 4 available at Auto Assembly 2010, we are proud to share with you this special TFW2005 Thanksgiving treat – an in-depth summary of the events of issue 4, giving you a glimpse into what could have been – and what would have happened next. Check out the summary in our Transformers Comics Resources section:

Yes, he had the artwork in a folder with him at AA as well, we had a good old look through there. The final page of the issue looked awesome

I would love to see all the DW stuff finished someday.

Yes, yes, I know. That bit was just for proving that the "Furmanverse" can exist, and our signature leads to further proof, kindly hosted by tfw2005

Spotlight Shockwave (IDW) and Age of Wrath (Dreamwave) are two different continuities… Not that you could tell these days.

Some spoilerish questions.
What is Grimlock doing inside the Extermination Drone? Did Shockwave recycle Grimlock's Spark?
I understand why Grimlock hates him so much, in Spotlight Shockwave
Is Megatron's spark somehow different/special? Is the "unbound" term just a flowery metaphor or an actual reference to some special power?
Maybe Megatron's spark evolved in a different way, like BM Megatron's.
Could it be that there is a reference to the Rite performed in The Dark Ages by the Fallen?

Mad Props to Furman for posting this. As much as i love WFC still think War Within was far superior.Shame that the game designers ignored War Within altogether…Hell even Bay managed to drag up the Fallen

When I spoke to Simon at Auto Assembly he said that next year he'd have issue 5 in the same scripted format and then the year after a summary of issue 6. It would have to be a summary because no 'script' was written.

Oh, joy.
(I mean it, I'm not being sarcastic!)

These were first sold at NordCon 2010, where we had the great pleasure of seeing most of the artwork for that issue, all explained by Furman himself in a sweet presentation. He's a real sport for doing this!
I have one or two copies of the script, signed by Furman if anyone's interested. I'll sell them at cost + shipping. Just shoot me a PM
Altitron
Simor Furman was 'selling' copies of this? Seriously?

That would be about twenty different kinds of awesome! Please do!
Superquad7

GENOZAUR
so grimlock died and somehow managed to clone himself in advance?
DUDE THATS SO FREAKING GENIUS ITS SCARY EVEN

I wish they had finished this. The triggerbots are some of my favorites, especially Override, and they always could use some more usage.

:O
I absolutely loved War Within – I still consider Dark Ages the best TF comic series.
I hope the story for the full Wrath arc is released.

Nope. There are a few pages of artwork that have made their way onto the internet, but that's about it. And it's a huge shame too, because in my opinion, this was the best thing Dreamwave was putting out when it folded.
And may I just say, I love how the summary of this issue ends! It's great to finally find out where Simon was going with the
subplot! The big guy may have been massively over exposed at DW, but I have to admit that I was curious about what happened to him.
The only thing that could be better would be if the full comic script was eventually posted online!
Spartan Prime
Sounds great, with the exception of Grimlock. Furman's babyboy ran out his welcome with me long ago. He really isn't that great a character, and ends up getting his ass beaten in more times than not. Some "badass".
Hopefully he spills the rest of it, though it's probably all pretty predictable "Prime returns and pounds Megatron into paste. Things go back to how they were beforehand".

Did these ever make it to print or at least soem final digital proofs or something ? I would love to see some virtual versions of these or something instead of just reading what was suppose to happen.

Finally seeing this is the greatest thing ever! It's like Christmas on Thanksgiving!!
