Here’s something rather cool yet sad at the same time. Take a moment to have a look at what might have been, with this design sketch sheet for Transformers Animated Dirt Boss. These concept sketches were produced by M Ganzy, a Takara Designer who posted them on Pixiv.net, that were then shared on Twitter by Tekcorps and retweeted by the one and only Derrick J Wyatt. They are a very rare look at the earliest stages of the Transformers design process, and give a look at how a Dirt Boss toy might have worked, had the line continued.
Check out our mirror of the image after the jump.

It's cool. We just kinda got a little over excited. lol

Apologies to all, and especially M Ganzy. I hate spreading falsehoods, but I remembered he'd done freelance design work for Takara (Ryukendo) and thought he *might* still be doing stuff with Takara, so that's how that started. I should have also stressed this was fan art from the beginning, which I had known, but I thought was at least implied.
No hard feelings from anyone involved, I hope. Just thought it was neat.
Feralstorm
I always thought (hypothetically) that Dirt Boss and the Headmaster unit (in a transforming version) could've worked nicely in the Activators line.
Kinda interesting that this fan-design is a good deal less squatty and stumpy than the animation design of DB hisself. It comes dangerously close to having an actual head.
Kaymac
If the back kibble could be folded up a little more efficiently (some way to flatten the cab down towards his neck) then it would be great, seeing as the forks are supposed to wind up on his back.
Paxtin
Yeah, actually it's not really that great of a design at all. There is probably a much better way to work all of the vehicles mass into the actual bot-mode. Maybe have the head recessed deeper in and the botom panles fold up over the cab of the forklift. That way most of that ends up as the actual body mass.
That's how I'd do it, anyway.
Still kind of neat to see, though.
ORIO
That's sweet. I hope we see some similar sketches of the other two constructicons so I can print them out and cry on them.
Hotspot17
Very sad.
Also wished they explained what the hell sari was.
Matty
Damn it. Why did Animated have to get canned…it was so good.
GAUGE
I want these!

According to his blog he drew it after "Three's a Crowd" was aired on Oct 23th 2010 in Japan.
It is only a fan art.
GAUGE
as neat as that design is. that thing is all back kibble. there's just no way for all that mass to be held up by 2 leg stumps.
Beastbot X
Aw man, he would've come with the Cerebro shell/drill too? Awwwwwwww….
mikeyfuzz
Isnt that just a kick in the junk. I bet we'll slowly get behind the scenes stuff like this for years.
Bumblethumper
While it's exciting to see this, and I did like the character, it doesn't seem like anything particularly special as these things go. It wouldn't make it very high on my list of most-wanted unmade TFA figures.
I wouldn't have wanted Constructicons without combining capability anyway. (although there does seem to be a sort of 3-pin socket underneath his con symbol, suggesting it may have been an attachment point)
MrSoundmeister
hmmm,i wonder if Takara might make a toy of this,Come on Takara,go make that toy, still i highly know that will not happen, but i will sooo be awesome if that actually happened.

He is freelance designer/illustrator.
He designed some stuff for Takara's tokusatsu program
("Tsukaima" in "Madan Senki Ryukendo")
but He relate to No TF product development.

A little of column A, a little of column B.
SPLIT LIP

So.. did animated die because of Cartoon Network and/or the movie?
