Higekuma Toy Toy Blog has updated with a pair of new galleries focusing on the latest addition to Takara-Tomy’s Masterpiece series – Movie Masterpiece Starscream. Split between vehicle mode and robot mode, these images highlight the added paint on the fine details compared to the Leader Class Starscream released in the US. Which one is better though is purely down to the individual though – this editor personally prefers the circuit board tattoos of his Leader Class Starscream.
Click on the links above to check out the full galleries – or see this editor’s pick of images after the jump. Also included with these images are some panels from the comic included with Starscream, which is written by Simon Furman and drawn by Guido Guidi, and features amongst others Dirge, a very demonic Bludgeon, and the aborted Unite for the Universe Power Up Optimus Prime.

Yup, those pictures are BEAUTIFUL, and just makes me want it all that more. Though the pic you posted does make me wish that they would have darkened the clear plastic a bit. If it matched the cockpit there it would not only have looked better, but also would have improved the look of the intake vents. Ah well.

Check out these photos on a Japanese site and maybe all of you who are against this figure will beg to differ…. >>>>>>>> MPMƒXƒ^[ƒXƒNƒŠ[ƒ€@ƒŒƒrƒ…[
A F22 Raptor masterpiece of a Transformer right there!!!

That's hilarious. I thought the same thing. Definitely a pass for me. Decent figure, but I already have the cheaper one with tats.

From the standpoint of matching what was on screen, this probably was the better way to go, and I'm sure I will like it (I have a lot of Takara toys specifically because of the better paint).
I just really, really, really liked that silver head.
imranbecks
I've got no problems with the head as I think it looks just right.. Believe me, it'll look better in person..
harrismonkey
Very disappointed they didn't end up going with the silver head.
I'm excited to get mine (should arrive monday), but I'm still on the fence. We have the better detailed less interesting version, and the poorly detailed more interesting version.
Cory Bauer
Mine.
Cheem The Rup
wow great and very clean photos I can't wait to receive mine

More photos of MPM Starscream…

Grimlock has always been a robotic representation of a T Rex so you might want to rethink your analogy.
Besides, with SS's paint job and jetmode license from Lockheed Martin, they
definitely imply to aim for realism.

I agree. Although if we had to choose between perfect and not-so-perfect, of course we'd all pick perfect. In the end though, these are toys meant to convert and be played with..if you are looking for a spot-on replica you're better off with…a replica.
I think Leader Starscream's jetmode is more than good enough. The underside is too thick compared to a real F22 (the Voyager one is better in this case), but it all locks into place really tight, and unlike Jetfire(/most jetformers), it gets at least close to the real thing.
tldr: it's an awesome toy buy it naowww

No one is holding Masterpiece Grimlock to real characteristics of a T-Rex so to point out such details of MPM-01 seems moot.

So I was looking at this a few days ago for 99.99 on BBTS but decided to wait to buy it until it was actually in stock. Now it's in stock and they jacked the price up to 109.99. I hate it when they do that.

Imo, people who can afford Leader class toys ( which are also in fewer numbers than Deluxes for example ), should also be able to buy button cell batteries.
Besides, if it were that difficult to find them, people with hearing aid machines would have a tough time…( they work on button cells, right ? )
but yeah, imo… I rather have no electro gizmo's at all ; allocate that to development budget for better engineering and paint apps.
Draven
I find this very possible; if you remember they used button cell batteries during Armada, but not since (or at least not for a long time now). Maybe they got complaints from parents who were having difficulty getting replacements at a good price. On the other hand penlite batteries can be bought anywhere, and are cheap as chips.

See, this pic shows the rear of the fuselage gets thinner towards the rear and from the bottom view it would show the shape also tapers narrow towards the thrust nozzles ; while this Starscream mold actually gets thicker and wider at the rear.
Indeed, if the lights and battery compartments had been left out, the space could have provided room foor the entire legs folded into the front section of the real F22 proportions. THAT would have been Master Piece engineering.

I guess so that we could get a choice of which callsign to use on the jet.. I prefer it this way rather than have Takara tampo a callsign with the decepticon logo on it..
Digilaut
Nice…but those stickers look really bad..why didn't they go with tampo? :-S

The jet mode looks really good… Pretty accurate to the real F-22 Raptor…. This is where the Masterpiece part comes in I guess, the paint scheme of the real F-22..
