Welcome back to another segment of our randomly-updated TFW2005 Sound-Off!, where we give you, the fans, a chance to get together in one big group, say things, vote on things, and then share all that on our frontpage! We had a slight hiccup last time, but we do appreciate all the votes and the knowledge that YOU. WANT. HEADMASTERS!
We also wanted to take a quick second to notice Slag-A-Con 2010, the convention recently held in Chesterfield, Indiana. It came to our attention that Gregg Berger, the voice of the original G1 Grimlock, was asked, based on our last Sound-Off!, if he’d return to voice Grimlock if Shout Factory! chose to translate and dub the Headmasters series. We’re tickled that you’re all paying attention and enjoying our Sound-Off bits, so thank you! (Gregg said yes, by the way)
On to the meat of this one!
RODIMUS PRIME IS COMING! The next Masterpiece figure is that of Rodimus Prime (or Hot Rodimus, Rodimus Minor, Rodimus Convoy, Rodimus) and it’s recently been revealed that he will see a release in both Japan and in the United States. But it was also revealed that there would be some differences – namely the lack of a trailer in the Hasbro version of the figure. That said, this question should be obvious!
Which version of the Masterpiece Rodimus figure are you going to get?
It should be noted that the rumor is that Hasbro is planning to throw some extra goodies in with their Rodimus figure, to make up for the lack of a trailer (or to justify the price-point they set, who knows for sure). It’ll also cost less than the $200 USD that Takaratomy is charging for their version.
Decisons, decisions! So what are you waiting for? HIT THE POLLS AND VOTE! We’ll see you in a week or so with all the updates!

Randomly selected users will have their posts linked to and copied on to the frontpage. Hasbro has yet to give any release dates or details on their Rodimus figure, except that it won’t come with a trailer. More details, as always, as they arise!

TakaraTomy's version because its the "completed" version but I can understand why fans passing it up due to cost.

I agree 100%. The primary mode is more important than the alternate in this case. For many either we accept the hasbro version or we wil not have this TF at all.
MagnusPrimal
But it can still be either Hot Rod or Rodimus Prime in robot mode. And some of us don't give a flying fig about the Space Winnebago.

AGAIN, MP RODIMUS WITHOUT THE TRAILER IS JUST THE HOT ROD ALT MODE!
sheesh, even in this stage of the thread people are still not seeing that

I guess I didn't see this in time to vote. I really don't have a clear answer right now. If the Hasbro version looks okay in vehicle mode without the trailer I can see myself going with the cheaper version. The Takara version is out of my league in the finance department.
Jetfire5
Neither. Alt mode means alot, and it really doesn't appeal to me. Maybe I just like "boxy" transformers. Also, the visible folded up windows in the torso is somewhat inexcusable for me to spend $200 on – same case with MP Megs' legs. Sorry, Generations and FansProject gets the financial nod.

I normally buy the more expensive Takara version, then get mad when the U.S. version is released cheaper. This one is tough, though, because the trailer is a really nice bonus. I'll probably still end up waiting for the U.S. release this time, though. For $100 difference at least (I'm guessing), I can live w/o the trailer.
openchallenge
Hm. I would have voted. I like the idea of the retail version not having the trailer. That way I can get the mold with a minimum of expense and go from there. If I really like it I could pick up a spare on clearance or go for the the takara packaging. I don't care for trailers.
If they make an mp jetfire who's armor turns into a drone jet I would need that on sight but I can live a full life without a Winnebago.

I'm getting both! Ultimate version of my favorite character, how can I resist! And I've pretty much become a Rodimus completist anyway (of the good, not black versions anyway). This way I can keep my Japanese one inRodimus Prime mode and my American one as Hot Rod too! This is my holy grail toy made reality!
Dreweido
I'm looking to trade the Botcon Sharkticons set plus goodies for him.
I have a preorder down though.
Dolza_Khyron
takara, it's only half a toy, if it does not have the trailer, lol but i might get both, too. i like rodimus.
Blitz.
I'm going for the one with the trailer I just don't think I could own it knowing that some editions have this huge extra alt mode
Enigma2K2
That's like Optimus Prime without his trailer… without it, he'll always feel incomplete.

For Masterpiece, I only buy Hasbro to save cost, and Hasbro sometimes makes improvements since they always release their versions later. They also make safety changes to comply with US child safety laws which does suck for collectors but understandable that they have to follow the laws in order to sell it in the US for much less.
[Wing_Saber-X]
Just Takara's.
T-Logicon
If I get either, it will be the Hasbro – US release. I'm not going to spend $200+ for a figure that isnt on my "grails" list. I like the MPs that I have, but thats mib/misb g1 type money that I'm not going to spend on a collectors item thats mass-made in China. If I see the US version at retail, and I'm feeling it, I'll make a move. So far, this figure isnt on my mind much at all.
Protoman
All of them!! Hahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not_prime
Gotta say, if I was going to get either, I'd go for the US release. I don't really like the camper van alt mode too much, even if it does hark back to his G1 character. Besides, I can still make him Rodimus Prime because of the face change. As well, the price of the Takara version is going to be too much, I can tell. I paid a good sum for Prime with his Trailer, but thats only because he looks good with it.

Just reading back through the responses after mine and this brought out the Lulz. Had to quote it.
And, to add to my original position of getting both, I think I may get 2 Hasbro releases (depending on cost of course). So that would bring the total to 3 Hot Rod/RP's. Space Winnebego mode, Sweet car mode, and Robot mode (switching between HR and RP).
exomega255
does it scare you guys how rich some of our forum members are and how many of them there is? ^^; we have nearly 150 members getting both (I assume its gonna cost 300 bucks)
