After much delay (and even a cancellation), Takara will finally be releasing Device Label Broad Blast (or as most know him, Blaster) on July 24th 2010. Now, thanks to the Higekumatoytoy blog, we get an in depth look at this new release. This version of Blaster will still be able to hold all the G1 Cassettebots, looks to have fairly good articulation, light piping, and transforms into a mini Laptop with 4 available USB ports.

Thanks for the size comparison pics Chaosbringer. G1 Blaster fit my collection well being in between Alt and MP height, but DL Blaster looks like he will work at that size. Plus he has articulation.
Chaosbringer
Just got mine
EDIT:
NeilJam:
PS: Blaster's holding a KO astrotrain gun (i'm going to kitbash it for him) and a Classics Prime rifle, his fist holes are fully compatible with classics fist holes, but the peg has to be long since his lower arms are a bit bulky and the gun peg has to reach the hands

I was going to get the SDCC Blaster to replace my old G1 with a broken antenna, but now I'm thinking more about getting the device label instead. My collection is based around MPs and Alternators and am starting to think DL Blaster might look good with them. Seems like he might be close to Alt size in robot form.

My PoL was empty until this hit today.
But it should fill fairly rapidly, what with the Animated SoC 2-pack, regular Takara Rodimus, Piranaking, and the Crossfire sets coming soon!

BBTS just got Blaster in. I'm approaching that limit for when I can't take it anymore and need to hit the "SHIP ME MY LOOT!!" button. It's full of stuff!

Those can be plugged into him though in his alternate mode, so it works for both types of figures.

It would have been a hell of a lot better if he could have held Tigatron or Cheetor in his tape deck instead of the G1 tapes. After all they are from the same line. Makes more sense, no?
But, it is still a definite buy!

bring on reprolabels!

ok, i don't understand why people are still suprised, we have known he can hold g1 cassettes for a LONG time, has people just ignoreing stuff?

I'm still on the fence on this one…

That pic has just sold me on the item as I was previously unsure.
If I get the SDCC G1 reissue as well I'll get some tapes that can be used with both. A win-win situation!

The memory thing was a quote from this online profile:
?????????????? ??????????????TF Device Label BROAD BLAST operating USB HUB?
It's in here somewhere… I had my J-wife take a look at it last night to give me some broad strokes. Any other Japanese translators feel free to have a crack at it to confirm:
"ボックスは、今までのデヴァイスレーベルで出てますね。
ただ、おもちゃショーのときに、レーベルシリーズは通常シリーズよりも売れ行きが厳しいらしいことを聞いたので、これが最後のデヴァイスレーベルなのかと思います・・・・・・
うーん、2GBメモリでなく、8GBとかだったらばもといったんだろうと思いますよ、真面目に・w・;
あとゴメンなさい、マウスはフォローしきれない;w;アレダケハ、ウケイレラレナカッタ・・・・・・"
I think the gist was that the reviewer thought 8 GB would have been much more useful than 2GB.
In any event, this guy is a must buy. G1 Blaster is fine but he towers over everyone on the classics shelf and he's bascially the same size as Metroplex. It just doesn't look right. Plus the (Universe?) Soundwave repaint is pretty fugly. Blaster finally looks great and even at a steep import price and 2GB memory instead of 8GB… he looks a w e s o m e.

Mine's allready on the way … after millions of years!
need to kitbash him a rifle

not as big a fan of the head sculpt in these pics, but I'm going to keep my pre-order. Will also get Venksta's kit and see which one I like better
Sidecutter
I don't believe that was in any of the product promotions we've seen before, but that's a nice surprise. Helps explain why a USB hub would be quite so costly when compared to the mice and flash drive figures.
Jarodimus
I did not know that. [/Johnny Carson]
Seriously, though, I didn't. It's not much, but hey, it's something. (Never mind you can almost buy a 1 TB drive for that these days. But of course, those don't transform and rock out.)

Also has 2GB onboard memory.

I hadn't noticed that, so long since I've seen one
Totally awesome!
