Japanese site getnews.jp has shared some images from the Tokyo Toy Show of Device Label Blaster. These images give you a much better idea of just how big Blaster is going to be – he is much bigger than a Deluxe, possibly even Voyager Class sized. These images also give us our first real look at the robot’s back. Check out the images by clicking on the link above, or the title of this story for our mirror of them.

Ahhh, THAT'S one reason why it looks better. The thighs look slightly beefier on the new version… they poke out a bit past the hip joints, while the spindly thighs in the photo on the left are flush with the hip joint. That small change, plus the black-and red hip plates, really makes a big difference in the look of the figure. It makes his legs look a lot stronger and more proportional compared to the frail stick-like thighs of the original.
Assuming this is actually the case and my eyes are not playing tricks on me, I'd say the re-design was worth the wait!
Incidentally, I wonder how many people actually plan to use this as a USB hub? It seems most people in this thread, myself included, intend to just stick him on their shelf as another action figure. I know my MP3 Soundwave has never played music, and my USB Ravage has never held data…

So, the take-home message is:
"Blaster — now with crotch upgrade!"
That's pretty much me. Just re-pre-ordered today.
Arcticwave
He's back on again?? I'm so confused…
DrillBIT
Remember that this is a hub. There are 2 sets of connectors on each legs and they should be connected in serial and not parallel.
The hip of BroadBlast is movable and it breaks the connection between the connectors in the older version during transformation. Their goal was to keep the connection "live" between the computer and the hub while you transform BroadBlast into robot mode.
My other picture only shows you that the old version from magazine scan has something different between the legs in color when it compares with the one at the Toy Show.

Ions? Really?
Anyway, does anyone know the official reason why the was delayed this much? I didn't understand a word of what openchallenge was explaining and I really doubt the leg problem DrillBIT pointed out (I don't see much change in the pics than the colors…) would delay it so much.
Even though he is an expensive guy, I never cancelled my pre-order and I want him in my Classics crew. Or plugged into my laptop and working!
Houndvoice
Yeah he looks fine, though I really don't dig the altmode.
And I suspect the delay is due to copyright reasons.
lotussouljah
BAAAHAHAHA!!! do it.
Wow, that's bigger than I thought! (that's what she said…)
Seeing this just might have trumped me getting the upcoming SDCC version…but I need tapes! But I still want this since it was first mentioned many eons ago.
Robogeek28
Oh now THAT looks really nice!

Skywave
What would be a very nice addition to this, would be for Reprolabels to create a sticker template for the PC screen, then you can send them your own pics and they print it on the template, ready to use
CyclonuS_ZerO
I had this on preorder at Robot Kingdom after the cancellations, but before that last delay. I've talked to them about this already and they say my preorder is still good (it better because I have been billed already). I really hope there is no confusion with this.
Chaosbringer
maybe they can just use the mold and remold some parts, like outercasing of the laptop… they don't have to stick an apple logo on it, just use it has a basis for a generic mac laptop.
folowing that idea, give him a new head, hand gun, shoulder gun, new tape deck door, paint job and call it Soundwave
(YES cause Soundwave deserves tapes too, not a freaking memory card)
(pay no attention to my rambles)
Acteon
I'm interested but skint. Bad combination.
Angelwave
I don't know why, but the more I see of him, the less interested I become. There's just something about him that doesn't sit right with me. And those new pics from the back don't help.
Foster
I had interest, lost interest and cancelled, and now I'm pre-ordering again. Blaster's too iconic and I like Straxus, Piranacon and ML Soundwave too much to not have their foil in my collection!
adamthered
Maybe I will one day have money again to pic this up. I had lost interest but the new pics have me wanting it again.
bithomas
It seems like Blaster has been in development forever, but the wait may finally be over soon! I'm really looking forward to it, and that's even better news that the toy is probably Voyager-ish scale (I did wonder how they were going to fit the cassettes in a Deluxe-scale mold).
DJCHARTERS
so glad i have this pre ordered. with all the good stuff coming out ive almost turned into a recluse with all the saving i have to do
Shin Densetsu
VOYAGER SIZED AND FITS TAPES?
CLASSICS BLASTER COME TO PAPA!
God damn it this is great, I hope we get a Soundwave like this using a unique mold. Like a macbook with a Decepticon symbol instead of Apple. Or a Kremzeek symbol.
DrillBIT
It has a connection cut off problem between the legs after it transforms into robot mode. They rebuild most of the lower body to fix the problem.
I guess the joints nearly killed it. Release date is 7/24, 6825 yen.
