Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman ran a question and answer session for the Movies. They spent some time talking about the creative process of both the first Movie and Revenge of the Fallen. They also fielded some questions about Revenge of the Fallen, answering amongst other things the mystery about Scavenger and Demolishor, in a slightly cryptic spoiler-free fashion.

I most certainly feel the barricade thing is a big deal. The films need to stand on their own feet as a standalone deal. They cant rely on prequel comics, books, etc. These media enhance the movie experience, but cant be a means to deal with a charecter that disappeared from Movie 1. By movie 3, I bet most people will have forgotten about barricade so it would be silly to bring him back there. I would prefer to not assume he was killed by a NEST raid. Show it on screen at least. They brought back Scorpy and proceeded to kill him, but at lease HE was dealt with.

I went back and checked screen captures, and yup you can make out an Audi logo on Sideways.
I won't hold my breath waiting to see if Volkswagen changes their position though.
Veloxiraptor
It definitely does. Audi wouldn't have contributed to the movie if they didn't want to advertise their product. They didn't consent to having their designs used for toys of course but I figure it's only a matter of time.
Nervol
The whole Barricade thing isnt a big deal I think. And in the end they have two choices
1. Never use him again, just assume he was killed in one of the NEST/Autobot raids that took place between movie 1 and 2. Very possible.
2. Use him in part 3 somehow.
As far as the Blackout/Grindor thing, its a pretty obvious answer. They got lazy and reused Blackouts design with a new head and a sligtly lighter paint scheme.
Considering the short timespan between TF1 and 2, AND the writers strike, its understandable that some shortcuts were taken.
I hope since TF3 will have an extra year, they really spend time on designing more unique robot charachters.

If you look at/own the Sideways toy, they have not. The toy is an approximation of an Audi R8. There is no Audi logo on the toy, unlike the Chevy logos on the cars and the GM logo on Ironhide. I don't believe the CGI of Sideways that we've seen in trailers have an Audi logo on the front either, though I could be mistaken.
Veloxiraptor
Though VW is certainly loosening things by allowing use of the Audi R8. I reckon they'll cave by the third film.
Beastbot X
It does seem like in the other movie fiction like the prequel novels and the comics, they've gone through great pains to NOT kill Barricade. I hope something comes out of that, somewhere down the line.
Torque
maybe they meant the sequel to the sequel?

Aside from the obvious that Bay already had the GM deal in place he probably wouldn't have been able to use a Lamborghini even if he'd wanted to because they're owned by VW and their policy towards Transformers is well known.
DecepticusPrime
So whatever happened to the whole note of Barricades disappearance from Movie one being a "thread to the sequel?"

Baltan
OH No HE DIDN'T!
ThinkTank Customs
i read the novel, there is no explanation for that in the novel
DecepticusPrime
Considering they are the main writers, Id say alot is true.
Anyone who has read the whole novel and can shed light on the Grindor/Blackout; Sideways/Barricade; demolishor/scavenger debacle, I will gladly accept a PM or Post here with spoiler tags. I have the book and am about 4 chapters in but havent had time to read more.

But it's coming from Orci and Kurtzman… so hw much of it is actualy true?

Hmm… interesting…. WIN.
Bay kicks all kinds of ass taking a different zany outta this world approach when he coose the "Ice-Cream" Twins.
Starscreamer95
I just know I'm gonna be blamed for this, somehow…
reave
People bothered about in-movie repaints? Not me. It just means we would be that much closer to a group of SEEKERS.
Seriously, sometimes I wonder if TF fans actually know what they want.
Shockscream
Sounds like they're up for TF3 now despite past comments. And a maybe for Unicron! Beans of extreme coolness.
